I'm moroccan and a tampon user as well. You can find them in supermarkets and pharmacies. The Medina is very touristy...not the ideal the place for groceries and running errands.
Tapons are everywhere in Morocco but not in the Medina. The medina stores are not really convenient. They are mostly for tourism. The pharmacy and supermarket is the place to go for those
Your tip about money is so spot on! I wish someone had told me earlier! Changing money at the Airport was a complete rip off! I changed 1 GBP at the rate of 7MAD! When it should be about 12 Moroccan Dirhams! I should have just come here and withdrew money as the bank rates are a lot better!
No you use your card in a regular ATM in the country or in the bank and withdraw money, it will then charge u approx 3% but you get a better exchange rate. You have to inform your bank that you will be travelling so they don't think its a scam. You can do this via online banking account services option
When you go to the square and watch ANYTHING (there is a lot to watch) you are expected to pay something. Don't take photos of anything, you must pay. And they will hassle the hell out of you. But if you just walk around they will leave you alone.
Don’t pay! Refuse! These clowns have no respect for tourists!!! One dipshit in the square called me ‘a bluddy fucken tourist’ cos I refused to pay fir a picture I took of a medical display. Also be careful where you eat! I caught E-Coli here!
@@Beetlebubblegum34 It was very very nice. More expensive than we thought but also not that dangerous how we expected (but we weren’t outside in the darkness). I wouldn’t go in a bikini to the public beach, my cousin did and a guy followed her and everyone stare..
@jarugie23 oh it was lovely, I went out to see the night life at the market. Ate grilled meat and salad, then in the day, walk and got lost in d surks, shopping and bargaining price. Drank so many fresh juice. Drank mint tea. Bought some scented oils I mix with my perfume till date. Visit the local garden and Ives St Lauren, day trips.
Can we exchange Sterling for Diram before we arrive in marakesh ? From the uk. As we have heard we can't, so their is a lot of conflicting information. We arrive in 11 days :)
If taking a taxi - agree a price before you set-off on trip. I loaded up my Wise card with DAM so I didn’t need to carry so much cash whilst there. If arriving at the airport and being met by a taxi company - you will probably be met outside the Airport and not by the baggage machine. Expect to take a long time to get through passport control. Hope that your baggage is still there on carousel! Go in March - very pleasant weather! Also it’s worth buying a SIM card - a got an Orange SIM card with 10GB on it for £43 from Amazon. You won’t get wifi everywhere and if you get lost in the Souks you will need Google maps to help you out. Final tip - get a VPN to protect your identity.

I did ATM ..but still awkward..lol you take out 500dirham they charge 35 so you keep doing it (because you dont want loads of cash on you) so you end up paying loads 😂
There is a chance that the person giving you the „free“ Wifi will steal your data. Definitely NOT recommended in a tourist area where you’re not absolutely certain who to trust. There are ways to prevent that, but if I need to tell you then you just shouldn’t do it at all.
Beautiful country, yet the people we encountered ruined for me 😢. No matter where I travel I’m a weary tourist, but the amount of times we have been tested and a couple of times successfully scammed, just left me drained haha 😅. It was to a point quite harassing.
There was this woman who said she considered the availability of tampons in stores as a good index of how free women are in a country, and I kinda agree
@@TheRosemaryWestmany tampon brands are made with bleached cotton which is carcinogenic & also can cause rashes and irritation from the bleach and pesticides used for the cotton.

I have definitely had issues finding tampons in muslim countries before.
@zziaoe2311 never said it did!

Carrefour always has them, just walk down the road from the medina to gueliz or get a taxi 5 minutes to carre eden and its inside 😊

Yes but supermarkets hard to find there not many ..awkward if you don't hire a car (huge deposit) but yes medina not for this
@@Standfastthinkbig most of those car hire companies are western companies. Hertz, SIXT, EUROPCAR ...
I just realized I'm going during Ramadan, and this is something I never thought to check before! Thank you so much for the tip!
I am going as well. 😂😂😂didn't check. So happy holidaying in the evening when shops open.

No, you don't have to pay. Just don't be shy and say no.
You don't have to, just ignore them....they do the same even to us locals, that's why I actually hate going to Jamaa lafna in particular
Basically don't go there 😅😅😅😮

On exchanging money- we took some cash with us and exchanged it there- got good rates and the rate was the same at all the exchange bureau’s in medina
Actually u can find tampons in the drug stores or super markets. Such as Carrefour or Marjane. Glad u had fun
Great tips, thanks
I was looking for tips on hitman marrakesh. This was nice too lol
Thanks for the tips
Seems atms are the best and using your credit card(if needed if you don’t want to carry big amounts of cash). I’ve experienced this in South Africa.
Thank you for the app 😊

Hi there! I am going by myself next week. How much does a taxi charge for a 15 mins ride from airport to hotel?
you stayed in riad orange? 😍
Guys, u would find tampons in the supermarket or pharmacy
Thanks
Any standard super market will have tampons!
The tampon tip is so important
Pharmacies sell tampons in Marrakech and throughout Morocco. There are pharmacies everywhere in Marrakech. I grew up in one.
She went looking for tampons in a toursitic shopping area so they prob wont have it. It's best to go to the pharmacy or any supermarket, Tampons are everywhere there
What’s the name of the riad you stayed at?
Hows the weather in august ?
Far too warm. Go in March.
I did ATM ..but still awkward..lol you take out 500dirham they charge 35 so you keep doing it (because you dont want loads of cash on you) so you end up paying loads 😂
the best tip of all about money is to Western Union it for yourself. save yourself, without comissions and shit. best thing i found ever.
If need tampons you can buy them in the pharmacy for a higher than normal price
Useful tip in general, never exchange currency at the airport!! no matter what currency you're exchanging it will always be rip off
Are there lots of nuts in thr food?
You can get ripped off just as easily in the London airports exchange booths. This is not reserved solely for the airport in Marrakech.

thanks for the tips but honestly every single travel blog will tell you to avoid currency exchange booths that's a very very basic travellers tip 😭😭
exactly 😂😂😂
so where should we change the currency?
Its the easiest place to visit but she’s making it complicated but one advice from my experience get tour guide from Marrakech everything will be easy
How much do the atm charge
Beware, Morocco is not cheap.
Amen
ATMs? They scam you as well. Been scammed in Greece two separate times.
so where should we change the currency then?
Thanks for the info sweetheart

Guru maps is the best
What about condoms??
Every pharmacy has them
Yeah, I hear Ramadan is not a good time. If it’s not your custom- i will skip that
I went to this country and regretted it because the reality is not like the pictures.. I advise people not to go to Morocco because everything 000😔😡
I changed money before going. Eurochange carries it.
Only cash in Marrakesh!
Tips for being a woman travelling anywhere then.
There was this woman who said she considered the availability of tampons in stores as a good index of how free women are in a country, and I kinda agree
I guess how readily avalailable it is definitely had some correlation with perception of virginity in that place
So the USA is not free since women's hygiene products are taxed as luxury
Early
Wifi is terrible there
Kind of baffled by you looking for tampons in the medina and not thinking they propably have normal shops
probably closed during holidays
wow.. Wi-fi but no tampons..
Period bathers bestie ❤❤ Tampons can be so dangerous
i feel like that's an odd generalisation... as long as you use them correctly (take them out within 8h) then no, they're not dangerous
@@TheRosemaryWestmany tampon brands are made with bleached cotton which is carcinogenic & also can cause rashes and irritation from the bleach and pesticides used for the cotton.
the tip is DON"T GO
The fact that you couldn't find tampons is really horrible. Demonstrates the lack of choice given to those who need these products.
It’s North Africa.
We don’t have tampons in morocco
Muslims do not use tampons.
Why talk about period
Because women all over the world experience it monthly
Is internet reliable in Morrocco?
