I love that Gleba has so many ways to solve problems. You can overproduce and void, you can do highly efficient circuit controls, you can build a megabase, or you can do the bare minimum. I don't think we've ever had so many (very viable) ways to solve puzzles before, and it's just incredible.
Yeah, after my initial WTF-Phase we all had to go through I really quickly fell in love with this Planet. So many options, so much output out of low amounts of space, it's really lovely. I only felt like building here was more tedious than on the other two planets I were on.
@@Ic0nGaming Gleba is the last of my initial four planets, so I arrived and threw down my Big Drills on the Stone deposits and made lots of landfill; That helped a lot.
Landed on Gleba last night, went to sleep at 6am. 😅 Definitely agree with taking it slow and working in small units. Loving it just like all the other planets. Each one has its own fun new challenges
True You also should know basics of circuit networks For example my factory starts crafting initial bacteria only if I am low on bacteria and bacteria duplication is stopped Pentapod eggs are used for agricultural pack only if logistics network has more than 10 eggs
Circuit networks and bots are great solutions, but not mandatory. Especially the bacteria part is just ... It's not really a problem to let it permanently produce Bacteria, even if the duplicator is running. The input are a few pieces of Jelly/Mash which are endless. Obviously using circuit networks makes it less wasteful, but Gleba doesn't care about waste at all.
So many people hate this planet, but ive spent many hours trying to squeeze output out of my factory on Gleba, and ive enjoyed it once i got things sufficiently spun up. The fact that the fruits spoil far slower than their processed counterparts means that i can process them at my leisure, but i need to spend more time iterating on my designs. Using the Gleba Biolab with its Productivity modifier is a must for processing Jelly and Mash, IMO. Real game-changer when i got some Rare and Moduled machines pushing the product.
For people that really dislike gleba it can be worth it to either save for later or have a supply chain set up to funnel resources from vulcanus or fulgora. if you start to run low on supplies here progression will slow to an absolute CRAWL. I abused the hell out of beacons with speed 2 upgrades here, it allowed me to chew through all the resources I got from farming with producing as little waste as possible. I tried to NEVER have my system back up.
Yeah, strong agree on that one. I did go for a start with only Construction Drones as Import (cause seriously I can't live w/o) and tried out how to do it without any starting resources. It's slow, yes. But mostly cause I didn't know what the hell I was doing :D But due to the fact that the things you HAVE to do on Gleba are relatively simple and short recipe chains, modules (like you say) really do have a huge impact. Importing beacons is helluva smart idea.
Tip number zero: You gonna get stuck there for a while, longer than fulgoria or vulcanus, so make sure you're nauvis factory is fully completely self sufficient and protected. I keep reloading old save because in 5 hours, my walls started to get eaten and I was not in mood to cover nauvis of roboport to reach the walls
@@Etrehumain123 A tip to past me: Transport the cargo to establish a new Silo on-site, together with the ingredients for rocket parts. I believe it's mandatory for Aquilo... My on-Ship factory parked at Aquilo will probably be capable of making Concrete in Space, maybe even up to Blue Chips and LDS if possible.
There is an argument to be made to position your primary labs on Gleba since the sci packs have a shelf life and give you less research per pack as they degrade. And even with just 4 Bioplants plugging away is enough to feed over 20 modded labs with no downtime.
man thx for this gleba broke my mind so ive been taking a break from factorio for like 2 weeks i usually try to figure it out my self. i dont hate gleba i love the idea of the spoilage mechanic in a game like factorio. but man have a self sufficient base and space platform incase you want to get off of it( learn that the hard way after i visited vulcanus) also the idea of using rocket full as a normal full source would have never crossed my mind will definitely be using rocket full for power now.
@@sir_duckington1245 I called a sapce amazon yes. Drones did the work. If you make the mistake to go there with no autosupply chain you are fkd and you need to charge another save.
One aspect not mentioned in the video that I think is very important when it comes to spoilage time: Gleba products come in two varieties - ones that have an hour+ shelf life, and those measured in several minutes. Centralising jelly, mash, nutrient, etc. production almost always ensures lots of spoilage. By processing them locally, in modules that produce high shelf-life products, you significantly reduce spoilage.
I really thought I mentioned that the Fruits last 1h and the other stuff doesn't on my agricultural tip. But maybe that was on another deleted take, I sometimes slip up. Of course you are right with what you say there o/
Also another thing not mentioned that I've seen people say - the heating tower is insanely efficient way to produce energy. If you can build one, it is by far the best energy source.
Definitely have tried to bite off more than I can chew. Just going to build a single section at a time; mashing, nutrients and then onwards from there.
@@Ic0nGaming I've started trying a looped belt of nutrients in one lane and waste spoilage in the other. It's producing science without intervention so it's got legs
So I uhm put spoilage to %10 before knowing much, how do I deal with iron and copper..? Edit: I've got everything from Vulcanus and Fulgora by the way.
My struggle with Gleba is that my farms run empty. I try to have the seeds made from the mash and the jelly sent back to the farms, but it is never enough. My farms run dry. Anyone else struggle with this?
I'd assume too many of the fruits rot on the belt which means you are not processing fast enough. Or there is a fault in your re-transport of the seeds back to the farm. But one of those sound like they could be your issue
@Ic0nGaming must be the fruit spoiling then. I have verified that the seeds get sent back to the agricultural building. I'm even using productivity modules when processing those fruits in an effort to create more seeds. I will have to look at this again when I go back to Gleba to fix things up

logistics bots and the trash unrequested feature make gleba super easy if you are not against a bot base

I get my science to Nauvis more than 50% fresh so they go into the biolabs and net more than if I were to put them in on Gleba.

Gleba has an easy rocket fuel recipie to allow you to leave if you do the big mistake to land in there.

Yes, they are really obscenely good. Especially since Rocket Fuel is so abundant, you can easily produce all the power you'd like.

The fix is Production mods in your mashers. Will fix everything.
cant technically your seeds run out? if you process the fruits too slow?
Yes-ish. You could just wander off to find some new fruit someplace else on the planet to re-start your seedbank
@Ic0nGaming alright good, because I'm too scared to start my factory up because I'm afraid the seeds will run out
I still hate Gleba
Gleba sucks
