Just a bit of advice from someone who has successfully lived off-grid for 20 yrs in my own rig, (and even longer before that in Outback Australia). Use full sine-wave inverters, not modified-sine wave (the cheaper ones). The modifieds are "dirty" electrical wave forms and will eat up the electronics and motors in your microwaves and fridgies. They wreck AC power bricks ( e.g. laptops) faster as well, often overheating them. Also, avoid the "blown fuse" dilemma out on the road by using 12V re-settable circuit breakers. More expensive, but they'll last forever. Since I drive solo, I tend to sit longer so I have a small APU when necessary, but usually my solar setup keeps my batteries charged. Since her trucks will be running constantly with team drivers, keeping batteries charged is not as much of an issue. But all in all, she is really setting her drivers up for success. So good to see in this industry. Bloody hell, I'm even tempted to go drive for her.

Lane keep assist is awesome for highways and high winds. Just have to remember to turn it off in cities and twisty roads. Not a fan of 100% power steering. Not feeling the road through your fingers - the only skin touching the vehicle - you might miss out on losing traction. Which in snow can be VERY dangerous
I have found memories of this particular model of truck, I stayed in two older models at two different times, when my dad was still a truck driver. He brought me along with him those times, and both times they were this model. They’re honestly fairly comfortable models from what I remember.
I love my auto high beams on my Ford truck BUT... there were a couple times that it didn’t turn off. But my truck is also 4 years older. Auto windshield wipers are the best though! Glad they are finally implementing it on big rig trucks! Y’all are driving 24-7! This is what keeps you and others on the road safe
You are a beacon in heavy duty trucking. The first heavy I drove was a 1960’s Seagrave Fire Ladder truck. No high technology, no power any thing, it took so much strength to turn the steering wheel and of course it was manual transmission. By the time I retired from the FD, the trucks were all power and automatics. The driving experience of heavy trucking has benefited so much from technology, it has changed the world of precision driving for safety and comfort of all truck drivers.
I pray you get drivers who will care for your equipments as much as you cared about their needs, safety and comfort. This is awesome. Be safe out there and stay 🙌🏾🙏🏾
Hey Shelby! Just wanted to thank you for re-igniting my desire to be a driver. I was actually disabled for 10 years but wanted to work again. I got a procedure done which made me feel good enough to work again and was trying to decide what to do. I found your videos right after that and have been driving again for 7 months now. I'm probably going to apply to your company after my 1 year experience bar fills up. Thanks for such a wonderfully positive look into driving! My dogs Bear and Zoe say hi to Dakota.
Hey Shelby 👋 I'm glad you are back, I sometimes worry when we don't hear from you !!! My young dispatcher figured out I new what I was doing and put me in a new 2019 freightshaker 3 years ago,the freaking thing is bullet proof.I,ve never had a truck go 200000+ with out any type of break down ,big or small.those rear ramps cause the trailer to lift onto the 5th wheel so if the plate is tipped forward it should keep the trailer from banging into the soft part of trl
I've driven almost every thing except a semi. The reason being? I've seen a few accidents in my many years on the road. And I shy away from driving those vehicles. However? my respect for the drivers of such goes with out saying.. I prefer the straight trucks, OTR and Regional. One piece of equipment under me. And no jackknifing. And in todays world? They come just as well equipped as a tractor. Safety features included. I love trucking in general. Hence my owning two businesses in the industry back in the day. I'm retired now, But the "bug" never left me. I got tired of just sitting around. So here I go...back into the industry again. I love it. Being on the road and seeing this beautiful country. Meeting awesome kind people. Yeh...To me? That's what being on the road is all about. Truckers are a special breed of people. They're the backbone of this country. And from my experience? They are the soul of the transportation industry... around the world. Good Luck on your adventure young lady. Be well and may the wind be at your back!
I'm Bruce from New Zealand I been following your videos and I love watching your truck stories and your guys work you do. Best of all I love your dog and the comments in the video what she's thinking. Anyway keep your videos coming and have a happiness by the mile 2021 🙂
Hey good to see you...nice to know that all is going well with you! Amazing piece of equipment Shelby...love how you get so excited when you're explaining about the improvements you've made for your drivers! Wish I'd had a boss just half as considerate as you are:) Keep up what you're doing we need intelligent, thoughtful, and considerate people like you in the business. Perhaps then the high driver turnover rate would go way down?
Shelby, I absolutely LOVE this Truck and all the awesome features. You did a great job giving the breakdown on this rig. You were much more informative than an actual salesman/saleswoman on this beauty. Many will hate on the technology, but regardless of that fact, the technology like you said will make every drivers job much more easier and less stressful. ALSO..... Technology is going to move forward with or without us either way, so I personally accept it and welcome it as I'm about to head out into the game soon.
The reason the dump valve was invented was to stop drivers from BLOWING OUT the Air Bags on the rear of the truck. It doesn’t safeguard the landing gear or save the shocks. And drivers of this era don’t know these things as you saw on the video the owner of her own company doesn’t know very much about a truck just the comfort features. Just another reason why steering wheel holders are the new terms used for today’s generation of truck drivers. I am not going to say I know everything but I know plenty. And some of these new features is because drivers today can’t handle driving with a phone in their hands. 6 to 8 weeks with a trainer is just not enough time to teach anybody everything. And that’s why uphill assist, downhill assist, lane departure assist, and other computer systems have been invented
thanks for the tour.in 1992 i learned to drive a double clutched trucking school.used truck.this is like a different world and you seem to care about your drivers which is really nice to see.
Nice to see a young woman with a bright idea and passion to have a successful company. Has to be a motivation for others her age to strive to achieve the best for herself and the employees. God Bless!!
So good to see you. I cannot help but think while you are showing this truck, how does Shelby afford one of these not to mention a fleet of them and start up costs. I am guessing a leasing arrangement. I respect it if you do not want to share the financial aspect, but it just seems like such a major investment. I wish you nothing but the best in your endeavor. You are so special.

That lane keep assist is dangerous I drive a 2021 fully decked out and when I’m on the far right lane and about to pass an exit it try’s to pull you out of the highway and into the exit and when pulling doubles it’s not the safest thing I tend to just turn it off
There ramp supports so if the trailer is to low, you can slowly get close to the trailer, and if they hit the front of the trailer, then you need to drop your air bags, they will go under the trailer more safely, once you are connected to your fifth wheel, then you always, ALWAYS, bring your air bags" UP before you begin to pull your trailer" and a good rule of thumb, is get out and always check before you move your equipment! Another thing i see you don't have any APU'S on your tractors! That would save you a whole lot of money on fuel!
Sweet and sincere lady. Refreshing change from trucking companies. Nice to see driver has control over safety features, most senior drivers turn them off. Never seen a 5th wheel weight gage accurate enough to trust. Never seen electronic traction control that made a difference just lock pwr divider if its that bad get out and chain up or do a 34 hope it clears up. Personally if a truck doesnt have a clutch pedal I am not going to drive it. As for one thing she couldn't identify they sometimes called frame skids some call them 5th wheel ramps. I have driven sevetal Cascadias. Not bad trucks with the Detroits they are light with a 10sp. I have the double endorsement but quit pulling doubles and triples decades ago. Call me lazy I do 53ft vans with HAZMAT thats enough in its own. But overall with this Ladies demeanor I would say she will become successful in the business
Its good for mentors for new drivers. Because there's normal beeps then there's too many beeps and you wake up and ask you ok. There's a lot of beeping going on.
Shelby, so glad and happy you're doing good, hadn't heard from you, I was praying you, dakota and JB were having problems with the new company. I'll keep praying for y'all, god bless and be with you always.

I believe what you are referring to in regards to the steering is hydraulic power steering vs electric power steering. It makes a huge difference. Also less maintenance as there is no fluid to leak or change.
I would definitely drive for shelby top line equipment like that and a boss who drives and understands the driver and wants her drivers comtrible and safe the industry can learn alot from shelby
It works for a while...then the longer you're "out of it" the more you forget. The more you start thinking hey these extras on the truck cost $10k/ea x X trucks that's a lot of $ that we could pay in management/owner bonuses etc. Then you start rationalizing how easy they have it now with all this lane assist stuff and how you did it without all the fancy stuff they're just whiny crybabies and... And so it goes on and on. Till you're a boss about like the rest

Plenty of safety features...LKA, etc. Looking forward to hearing how these work for you. I’m glad to hear that you drove this truck from the dealership to check it out for yourself...that’s the right thing to do. It’s still a wind deflector to me...that shield next to the windshield. I like the rear fill fuel tanks...that can make it much nice in many ways. I’m all for making truck driving easier, but some features can take the TRUE FEEL aspect away from your truck. You know what I mean? So how many trucks are in your fleet now? Hope you’re enjoying managing your own company. Keep us posted. I’m glad you’re back. 🤩
Is there a chance that by having all the driver assist upgrades drivers will become too relaxed or complacent over time and lose some of their skills? For example, commercial airline pilots have said that all the new electronic and other upgrades may reduce pilots' ability to handle the plane in adverse or unusual conditions. Thank you for the great video.
The less you actually 'drive' the truck in normal conditions, the less you will recognize when something is not normal and the less you will know how to deal with it. Even scarier is the people who will use these devices in adverse weather conditions thinking it will keep them safer.
Look up Eastern flight 401.....First modern jumbo crash back in 72' because of technology. Then look at the worst airline disaster ever 1977....Two loaded 747 collied on the runway. Found that the pilot who caused it was one of the best pilots in the world..... With humans there will always be error but also with technology. We need to find that sweet spot in the middle.
Just came across your channel very cool. My family has been contracted with ground since the early 80’s in the RPS days. Nice to see another contractor that takes care of their drivers. Congrats on your company growth🤘🇺🇸
I WANT ONE!!!! Nice one Shelby. Snag here in the UK is that I understand that we can only drive cabovers over here. If I did manage to get one of those beauties I'd probably be paying fines til I meet my maker! Congrats on the Company and the Very bet of luck and success be with you hun. Luvz! Wolfie
@@FaresDjebbar Yeah the long nose gives them so much more character👍, that's exactly why Steven Spielberg choosed that old Peterbuilt for the Duel movie, when he saw it near a bunch of at the time more modern cabovers, it looked like it had a "face", while the others didn't. God i love that movie❤.
Flatnose or Cab overs got some serious benefits. Shorter between front and rear axles, No overhang in the front of the axle so makes it much more easy to get into or out of tight places. And why do we still need the long nose? It's like a pinocchio tractor truck. Should have been taken away from the market with the oldtimers that kept the urban myth alive "if you brake hard with a cab over engine your cab will tilt and you will die". No. That is just wrong. Will never happen.
As an ergonomist and injury prevention specialist for Daimler Trucks North America, I see these trucks being built every day inside and out. It's really cool to see a drivers perspective on the usability and functions of the new Cascadia model.
Why does the 126" BBC Cascadia "dip" on each and every bump in the road and force the driver forward in their seat? It's like driving a "cabover conventional," compared to a Volvo 780.
My Volvo 760 VLN has a switch on the dash that releases the 5th wheel locking jaws. Just do your landing gear and airlines outside the truck, release the locking jaws inside and drive off. The manual release handles are always a pain in the butt.
Just found your channel but I gotta say. I like seeing more ladies getting into the trucking industry, too many people say it's just a guy thing, or that girls just can't handle the rigors of longhaul driving, but you're out there proving them wrong, and showing every girl out there that, yeah...she can do it too. Good on you miss, and keep laying the hammer down, and watch out for those nosy bears out there snoopin'.
I dont know anything about trucks the way you do but wow that cascadia looks clean and worth the buy. You really love your trucks i love it!!!. 120 gallons to fill that beast up?? Wow thats a lot. I feel like truckers really do not get the credit they deserve.
The driving experience of heavy trucking has benefited so much from technology, it has changed the world of precision driving for safety and comfort of all truck drivers.
i love how her & her business is so human
I pray you get drivers who will care for your equipments as much as you cared about their needs, safety and comfort. This is awesome. Be safe out there and stay 🙌🏾🙏🏾
We call them 5th wheel guides in Ireland where you stand to put on the air lines we call the catwalk good luck from Ireland
Hey Shelby 👋 I'm glad you are back,
I sometimes worry when we don't hear from you !!! (Winter in the USA can be very hazardous) I absolutely love your Videos ~ one of my favorites was when you Baked Cookies and gave them out to random truckers, I thought that most sweet and kind of you, have an Awesome week and Kind Regards from the North Island of New Zealand 🇳🇿
PS: Give Dakota a big hug from me, Dakota is the best 🇺🇸 doggo on utube 👍😎👍

This young lady LOVES her job she has such passion
I'm honestly impressed by the features these newer trucks have. Kudos to Shelby for taking time to give us this tour :)
I’ve always dreamed of working for a company like yours. Great job!
You’re not being weird. You’re being cute AF excited about new tech. Keep trucking and goodluck with your business.
Best saleswoman for Freightliner ever!
I think, whatever she would sale i would buy it no matter, just as long as she would be my sales woman...
so hopefully when she is buying next one, they say "and this one is on us"
I'm Bruce from New Zealand I been following your videos and I love watching your truck stories and your guys work you do. Best of all I love your dog and the comments in the video what she's thinking. Anyway keep your videos coming and have a happiness by the mile 2021 🙂

Sorry my mistake cheers mate 😚
Hey good to see you...nice to know that all is going well with you! Amazing piece of equipment Shelby...love how you get so excited when you're explaining about the improvements you've made for your drivers! Wish I'd had a boss just half as considerate as you are:) Keep up what you're doing we need intelligent, thoughtful, and considerate people like you in the business. Perhaps then the high driver turnover rate would go way down?
Fantastic job. You are a blessing to the industry. Thank you for being genuine.
Very cool, you're so considerate, hope the drivers respect the thoughtfulness and take care 🔥
Dumping your air suspension when dropping trailers saves your shocks too.
facts! and its common sense but most drivers dont use it or forget to use it.
I will definitely share in the future if there is enough desire in such a video 💜

Those lane departure beeps came straight from the pits of Hell. Lol.
I’m sure they are great for team drivers when one is trying to sleep.
Lol
Its good for mentors for new drivers. Because there's normal beeps then there's too many beeps and you wake up and ask you ok. There's a lot of beeping going on.
I'm a technician that works with a company that runs only freightliner cascadia and the Detroit assurance can be a real pain sometimes.
They beep for absolutely no reason.. i know at least 4 people who've sought out other employment with trucks that don't use that shit
Shelby, so glad and happy you're doing good, hadn't heard from you, I was praying you, dakota and JB were having problems with the new company. I'll keep praying for y'all, god bless and be with you always.
You really believe that praying helps...🤪
@@berndgo I do believe that god hears our. Prayers and that jesus lives.
The biggest reasons I got our 2020 RAV4 hybrid was for the technology. Good on you! Wishing you all success!
Gonna buy a 2022 cascadia probably in January or February. Love being an owner operator and looking forward to my new truck. Good luck with your company
I’m glad you are doing well. Take one day at a time. It will all come together
I'm a Freightliner dealer sales person and you did a better walk a round then anyone on my sales team.LOL..... Nice job! I hope Freightliner marketing sees this.
Any good deals on trucks rn?
We actually had the high beam system on our 1985 Cadillac Seville.
Very nice. My Lexus has all the sensors, blind spot sensor, lane assist etc and it’s nice to have.
Man I miss driving. Should've never retired.
Great video, all the best.
Awesome montage in the beginning, great cinematography!
I have a friend that drives for FedEx and I'm definitely going to show him this video cuz we're supposed to meet up next week so I'm definitely going to let him see this and I'm glad you are back
Absolutely AMAZING shelby!
I believe what you are referring to in regards to the steering is hydraulic power steering vs electric power steering. It makes a huge difference. Also less maintenance as there is no fluid to leak or change.
I'm not a driver and stumbled upon your videos after watching a few Riding with Dave vids. Really great stuff, keep up the good work!
@@mrmotofy To hell with your “bonuses”
@@JohnSpartan-117 LOL...you're just as greedy as every other human on the planet and would vote for your own bonuses and you can't deny it.

Freightliner is a Daimler AG (Mercedes-Benz parent) company. Nice to see all the safety & tech features have finally trickled down to their trucks!
Big Thumbs Up for content and appearance. You give a through description of “your” trucks and the features. The color coordination between the truck coloring and your attire is great for viewers. Your white vest and black leggings blend with the white and black truck perfectly. When you add in your long blonde hair and pretty face the video is great, a winner all around.
She should be the spoke person and model for this brand- Great presentation!!
Sir, she wouldn't have a long career because Tesla semi taking over soon.
@@KoiAquaponics Wrong!! first off I'm a female not a male, 2nd thing, even if Tesla or any other company takes over- Nothing to do with the fact, she's well knowledgeable and very good in the presentation- Perhaps Tesla should hire her as well for their sale promotion.;-). And last but not least. The Tesla trucks will still need a driver. Better go do your own DD before making yourself look stupid online
@@KoiAquaponics The Semi ain't driving itself yet.
They're called "ramps" for the fifth wheel.
12:15 that's because the lane keep assist requires an electric power steering system to work, previously it was hydraulic power steering

@@denisew8187 why did you stop driving trucks ?

Is there a chance that by having all the driver assist upgrades drivers will become too relaxed or complacent over time and lose some of their skills? For example, commercial airline pilots have said that all the new electronic and other upgrades may reduce pilots' ability to handle the plane in adverse or unusual conditions. Thank you for the great video.
You make an excellent point. I’ve been thinking about too.
@@joshuamack342 Right !!
@@joshuamack342 I just watched the flight 401 video and now remember that crash.
Glad you're back. Chev trucks have had the auto high beam for a couple years now. Really cool feature

This is the best vehicle B-Roll I’ve ever seen... I’ll be copying that intro in my next video
I'm always gonna prefer ❤ this type of trucks in comparison to the ones that we have here in Italy 🇮🇹 and Europe 🇪🇺 in general.
Yeah, same here, US trucks are much better than cabovers, because they have lots of space and they look better because of the long nose!
@@tianjohan4633 Well, they both have their different benefits and flaws.
But as a non truck driver, i've based my personal opinion on the looks only.
@@tianjohan4633 Based on the looks, long nose trucks are better looking, based ln driving, I only drive cabovers so can't speak about conventionals
Shelby: I hope no one can blow a fuse. Most drivers: Is that a challenge? My truckin' days are long over, or I'd consider working for you.
I fit my trucks with auto resetting breakers instead of fuses.
You must have electric steering, that's usually why it feels like the steering wheel isn't connected
ITS SO GOOD TOOOOOO
