If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.
Fantastic. Learn something daily from Alex that we implement
This is the best explanation I have seen
It's crazy. Hormozi always has an elecated take on every aspect of business but particularly selling and marketing. Badass.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is a great example of this. It shows the different levels that influence people and status is near the top.
That is not how Maslow's hierarchy of needs works. If you don't have food, you won't be seeking status, you'll be looking to feed yourself, because food is below status in the hierarchy. Once you meet the needs at the bottom of the hierarchy, you'll be seeking to fulfill the ones above that level. When you fulfill those, you'll seek to fulfill the ones above them, and so on and so forth. I tell you this because misunderstanding the hierarchy of needs in copywriting can negatively affect your copy. You should know which needs in the hierarchy have been met to target the bottom ones that haven't.
thank you
Wow! As a new business owner, this seems like a pretty important lesson.
How come anytime he opens his mouth it's just pure value
Aint no way he just solved how to copywrite in 45 secs thats crazy
So create copy with the goal of increasing status and awareness
I genuinely Thank you for simplifying it I kinda lost him a little bit there
Or within the frame of FOMO, fear of missing out.
Nice! Ties into Maslow's Heirarchy really well too
Which Ca$hvertising’s LF8(+9) seems to draw from.
@@skillustrateshuh?
bro just dropped some hard facts. thanks alex
That’s an absolutely incredible piece of advice. Thanks Alex. Stay blessed.
Wow, I love this framework already.

Those who didn't understand
He says that focus on making the people feel validated.
Validation - We want others to acknowledge our achievements and praise us
Now let me continue
If we say that how they will be perceived by their friends family and enemies after getting success with our tool or program then it satisfies their validation need which is more powerful than the self need
The biggest mistake in life was underestimating how much status affects everyday people. I do not care as I view the POTUS and a janitor as people and equal value but that mindset has gotten me burned so many times. I have to pay attention to status because the mob will literally come after you if they think you are low status and you try to do something high status.
The nail that sticks out gets the hammer 🔨
@@nogalokey thats a good quote
Absolutely bro. Most people are mindless drones. They don’t care about what is actually being said or done, but rather the (perceived) status of the person or thing and it’s vibe/appearance.
I'm sorry but you can't say the POTUS and the Janitor are equal. They both hold value, no doubt, but not equally. However, both deserve respect. The same way a person won't look down on the POTUS must also be applied to the janitor.
I watched this videos a couple times and I hade no idea what he was taking about, and recently started reading copywriting books and now I actually understand.😂
The advice is almost as handsome as yourself Alex.
Many thanks 💪
As always... the best advice and the best delivery
This I’d an interesting mindset to hold. I feel like it would be challenging for me to be able to consider all that framework
Yess status is key, works like a charm but need tl be thoughtful how you communicate it
Tight line to walk for sure

Copy is about make them imagine their desired future state. Just ask what do you customer want to achieve.
Motivation, in other words, is not the same for everyone.
This sounds like an interesting way to reframe Porters 5 Forces
"Might". In other words, you must Know your customer's psychological profile and hot buttons. Each person is different.
In sales, this "know" requires you to Ask First. In advertising, you must Target tighter.
What are the best books on copywriting? Thanks for all of the amazing content per usual!

Can you give an actual example of copy following this rule?
The Benefit of the Benefit: Emotional Benefit of the Functional Benefit. Todd Brown I first learned these from.
He gets it. No doubt. Let the beard go.
Idk what he means by this, is this to get Clint’s? Or to write copy for your Clint’s?
I took myself out of the fame game in 1986. I knew fame opened most doors. For decades now I'm the wizard of oz for dozens of public facing celebrities in all fields where commitment to the character and narrative is for life and lifestyle.
My lifestyle is private now and forever. I deploy actors and spokesmodels.

In other words: perception creates charisma
So how does copywriting relate to what he said here? I'm lost.
This dude put on mass from his last video 5mins ago.
I noticed the same thing lmao
I’m confused, what does this have to do with copywriting. It sounds like great advice, but I’m confused on the connection
In copy show your prospect how others will perceive them after they get the product you are selling. Does that make sense? I think it's a great advice and I'll try in my next copy.
Ooh okay, I was thinking of copy like copywriting something. Maybe the same word is used for different meanings I guess. But I looked it up in addition to what you said and that makes sense. Yeah you’d definitely want to know what your audience wants to appeal to them
@@will_huntThat’s copyright. Copywriting is pretty much writing sales letters (copy) to prospective clients.
@@SportsSimp Thank you so much for clarifying that, I was so confused and mixed the two together.
@@hopsmax2827 everyone does. Even I did, once upon a time.

Maybe it’s because I’m not a copywriter, but I’m LOST.
I have no enemies...
Status
So good!
I need someone who’s not functioning on 3 hrs of sleep like myself to explain this to me in its simplest form 😂
2 things that is good for me
2 things that I don’t have to worry about
*How does it make me look like?*
- How do my friends see me now?
- How my family see me now?
- How my enemies see me now?
*Ex. You working out*
- You look bigger
- You become stronger
- You not lazy no more
- You no longer weak
*Perceive - how it makes you look*
- Your friends see you as an active person
- Your family sees you’re becoming healthier
- Your enemies won’t want to mess with you now since you’re stronger
This is what Alex is saying.
Damn bro, you ratio'ed him hard by providing value @@ista7

Ngl didn’t understand one bit what he said…
Do you write copy yet?
You ain’t the only one
I mean it's really only relevant if you do copywriting, all he's saying, through perception is how people think (which relates to the status of others as well), so in copy, show your prospect how others will perceive when they receive it.
So how others perceive you is beneficial, STATUS is formed through perception at the end of the day. Why do we put these politicians on high pedestals, because we perceive as the higher elites.
You wont understand this if youre not writing a copy.
sell the solution not the product!
How do you come up with these things?
People don't want to be rich, they want to look rich
🏆
Facts
That told me nothing on how to copy write
How can someone be perceived as "crushing their conpetition" without acutal results or "success" to show for it? Not hating, just genuinely confused by this.
