Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

My grandfather was a millionaire, and he drove his super old truck to all his business and had a brand new truck tucked to the side as his home. I remember asking him why bot drive the new truck, he said because my workers are humble, I'm humble and they see me drive in my old truck and they're open to me. Here’s a story for Avante I’m over 50 I never made more than $35,000 because I stayed in social work and decided to get a insurance sales license. Well let me tell you what happened since I was already living off of an apartment building when I started making sales and sales bonuses I took all of those sales bonuses, I put them away. I didn’t spend more than I normally do. I didn’t take on big trips. I didn’t buy a new car with 18 months I have made $175,000. I was able to save about 40 took away about 20 I was able to clean off all of my credit, I was able to give my grandchildren some money. I was also able to buy a house all the days were long and hard during a certain period but that’s what you gotta do save work harder and if only for a short period I will no longer ever work that hard at my age, almost 12 hour days that’s not for me but I was able to get ahead. You can get ahead. I’ll be telling my story during a podcast if I had almost 60 can come out of a hole within two years you can too

Starting at age 20 at san diego state all I did was hustle every single day. Stacked my classes on tuesday and thursday, cold called 12 hours a day rest of the days trying to get a lead. Fast forward 5 years later, I have sold more apartment building in san diego than anyone else in the past 2 years and have invested all of my money into cash flowing assets. That first tip cutting costs makes such a HUGE difference. I went from living semi-comfortably paycheck to paycheck in a 2 bed apartment, moved in with an older couple whose kids are out of the house and already having their own kids. I got my own room, which is enough. I got my own bathroom, which is more than I need. Ontop of that, I no longer have a car, instead I ride a $100 bike to a job that is close enough I can cut that expense of a vehicle out of my budget almost entirely (still have to buy inner tubes every once in a while). With the money I'm saving this way, I have literally 1/3 of my cash flow as "free money" that I have been saving, investing, and putting into the things I need to start my own business or fuel my success.
I can't emphasize enough that if your main stress in life is making ends meet, there's probably a way you can live a bit less comfortably but find even more comfort from being financially stable. Not having netflix, or youtube music, or a new pair of shoes, none of this matters to me when I'm sitting in a park in some of my thinking/brainstorming time and I don't have to even think about how to pay rent for one second. Being less comfortable is something you can get used to, and if that buys you the ability to think clearly about what you can do to achieve greater success then the value you get from the cheaper options is immeasurable.

Thank you so much for pouring into this young man and others like him in our community. These were straight gems and of course, in posting this, it will provide the blueprint to him and all those who have the hunger and passion to pick it up and run with it. You’re a class act. Alex is spot on here. I was born and raised in a small town in Alabama where while I was trying to provide for me and my meth addicted mother the Walmart hadn't made a new hire in 2 years. I couldn't get online jobs at the time so I went retail sales, moved cross country to the silicone slopes, and transitioned to tech sales. In the past 5, I've quadrupled what I was making by adding skill after skill.

VERY well done ! I say this with 40+ years in mortgage finance & banking working with credit bureaus. Different models and parameters are used by different industries but *VRI TOKEN* info is pretty much universal. If you're trying to max your credit scores, there is a happy medium between too many credit cards and none. Too many cards with zero balnce may actually hurt you in some cases. Even if you do not use them, you have a potential. To always pay cash & still have cards doesn't help your scores as well

When people have money, they spend it. And some people spend more money when they have more of it. If you want to improve your finanncial management, you should consult with a finanncial adviisor.

You can escape the traps of lifestyle inflation by hiring a professional adviisor to help you plan your short- and long-term goals; it all boils down to adequate coaching. I've witnessed my salary produce money over the last two years and six months, and I now have a fully paid-off house and at least $2.2 million in saviings. All of this is the consequence of later invstments and the use of profesional asistance.

You can learn music production on RUclips for free. There's so much great free information online and on RUclips.
If you're planning to save money to go learn at a music school, I tell you now it ain't worth it, trust me, I made that mistake and now I'm 20k in debt from something I could've learned online for free. Also, you can go an intern at a reputable music studio near by for free and learn a whole bunch of shit school will not teach you. You need to cut those working ours to a normal schedule and the rest of the hours use them to go intern at the studio and learn from online tutorials. You can also buy books on the subject. There are many good books on music production. One thing I do tell you is, learn music theory and learn how to play the piano fluently, that is going to help you a ton. Good luck 👍

Music production? You're busting your ass saving for a degree in something you could learn from skillshare? And that isn't going to pay you jack shit after you learn it?
Make music production a hobby, then a side hustle if you really like it. In the meantime, learn something that's going to pay you damn well for learning it, then use that to make more, to have time to learn whatever you want to.

That doesn't change my point. You don't graduate and then get to produce for top artists. If he did something that made more, then he could do music production in his off time and not have the stress of his livelihood hinging on the results of his production work.

Learning skills while working is really hard to do, but it’s absolutely necessary. I moved home at 27 into my parents basement because I was working, but had low income and too many bills. I felt like a total loser. Studied and hustled and learned new skills. 18 months later, landed a great job. 2 years after that, moved to Europe with a job transfer. 2 years after that, I moved back home and paid cash for my car (no car payment). 3 months after that, I bought my first home.
What Alex broke down is the correct formula.
One thing I didn’t hear mentioned is that you gotta surround yourself with people who also are bettering their lives. This also means get away from anyone who drags you down or has a poor mans mindset.

My best friend from law school left the country for 2 years and came back looking for a job. Couldn’t find any. No one called him. He did exactly what you’re describing. And he went in person and started leaving cover letters in person. Just left a lot of cover letters to many businesses. That’s when he started getting called. And there was one huge transnational company that hired him. He worked so hard it was hard to recognize him cause he was always lazy at school. After that he only kept improving and getting bigger roles and now he’s at an even more top transnational earning a lot more money… and crazy to think years ago he was jobless for a year and delivering his resume to multiple companies. Most will say no to you but you only need one door to open.
