Super! I like the blind tasting. Not to embarrass or fool anyone, but to stretch their senses. And the audience gets pure feedback without preconceived notions about the brand. Id like more of these.

Great job again. Lovely to see Liv back! The guess the dram at the beginning was really good. Should definitely do it again. Haven’t really had much of Dalmore. After watching I don’t think I’ll be rushing out to buy any. Love it when Ian goes on his rants. Brutal! But awesome. Dalmore.......(tumbleweed moment) - I do have an IB G&M 13yo Dalmore I bought out of curiosity.

Great episode. I enjoyed the blind tasting of the first dram. The point about Dalmore whiskies is that the price definitely doesn’t match the drinking experience they offer. You guys are having a great time tasting all these. Picked up my Dalmore stash when prices were reasonable many years ago (e.g. 18 YO £58.50!).Love the distillery although now the price vs abv is driving people away from the brand in the UK. Portwood is a nice dram and the King Alexander before the price hike. Their higher abv or rate IBs are the ones to remain patient for.

There was a video of a Danish man doing "The Dalmore Experience" with Richard Paterson and it was absolutely HILARIOUS. Even though it made me chuckle at the "snake oil" experience, there were some valid points that Richard Paterson still had and I still went out of my way to taste Dalmore. Ended up enjoying the King Alexander expression in an amazing priced flight at a bar in Inverness. But I am SO sure they paid him to take it down recently because I have tried searching for it and it is non existent...incredible memes though to back up Ian😂

£325! You could buy three really good 18YO whiskies (I picked out Speyburn, anCnoc, and Ledaig, but there are others options) and you'd have three better whiskies (in my view), at higher age statements and all 46% or more ABV, and have around £50 left over to spend on a nice dinner! Why would anyone buy Dalmore? Incidentally you can also get those three whiskies for slightly less than a single bottle of (43% ABV) Dalmore 18.

Ah, Dalmore. I once got a sample of the port wood that I loved! Then I bought a bottle and it was meh. Overly sugary, a little metallic and very thin mouthfeel but quitte hot for the ABV. Waste of good money that could've been spend on an IB or something from another distillery. The Cigar Malt (new release, never had the old one) is still one of my worst whiskies ever, really glad I got a sample of it from a friend for free.
on the EU mainland's better webshops, The 12's around 60, Portwood 70 (it went up a lot last year), 15's 100, Cigar malt 140ish and KAIII moves up to 250ish. Completely insane!

From what I can tell from living in Taiwan the demographics of the people buying Dalmore are very similar to those in the UK and other markets: older, predominantly male, marketing driven, brand driven, but non-serious about whisky, consumers. Not one person I have met who has actually been “into” whisky has owned a bottle of Dalmore - but I have seen a few friends fathers with bottles. It’s also up there with Macallan as a celebration whisky. Wedding/birthday/newborn/anniversary/promotion/whatever, if you’re not being gifted Macallan it’ll be Dalmore. It’s easy to forget as enthusiasts but the vast majority of consumers are buying blindly, without that much care about the product, or about the nuances of whisky itself, so brands that have the reputation and the aesthetic tend to be more popular.
P.s pretty sure the Dalmore expression using 7 different wine casks is the King Alexander III - great whisky, but recent price hikes make it an easy one to avoid.
