    The only reason most people I know play roller or ball hockey is because ice is just too expensive but they love the sport. It never made sense to me why so many ice fans watch these vids to make fun of them. Not everyone grew up being able to afford thousands of dollars worth of sports equipment, ice time and servant type parents driving us everywhere when we had a game or practice. The only people I knew growing up who could do that had upper middle class parents who thought their kid was the next Crosby. And most of them ended up not making it anywhere, playing beer league or ball hockey anyway lol.

      Some of the guys who play professional roller hockey also played college hockey and pro ice hockey. I'm sure any one of these guys in the video, and anybody in the pro roller hockey league would light up anybody on this forum talking shit. Ice or roller.

      Yeah. I play ice but I play roller when I'm not at the rink. The only rink with hockey is in the next town over, and I'm only in the High School In-house league because the travel team is WAY too expensive. My linemate said that he tried the travel team for one season, and the PRACTICES alone were almost double the in-house league I am in. As for the video, I'm just interested in other variations of the same sport😁

    Coming from Ireland where we have no permanent Ice rink in the republic weve had ice hockey since the 70's but Inline hockey is the only sustainable form we have playing in sports halls or leisure centres. I love Ice hockey but inline is a completely different game. So if you are on here to rag on it then go elsewhere.

    First goal scored by Loggins. That guy plays for the Grand rapids griffins now. Rococo grimaldi came from the same roller hockey area. Patrick maroon played narch too I think. Hard to judge all of roller hockey from one teams style of play in one video. Not around the roller hockey scene anymore but it seems hockey in general is becoming more popular

    Roller hockey is much more interesting than this game portrayed. It’s a beautiful game that has its flaws (yellow team abused them the whole game). It’s a much more fluid game than ice hockey. Way more open space. Open lanes for better opportunities(ice hockey’s a lot of deflections and rebounds).

    People make fun of roller hockey but jeez not everyone grew up in the frostbitten north. I'm from southern California man that's all I had until they opened up the LA Kings ice town near my house. And it sucks cause I'm a ducks fan.

    Inline needs a blue line to stop the deep back passes. The game flow looks more like soccer than hockey

    • @erin79
      @erin79 5 лет назад

      Completely agree. The way they keep resetting the offense by going all the way back is so frustrating. It slows the game down so ridiculously much, and negates the risk of odd man rushes, which are a huge part of the game.

      dude the standing behind the net and holding on to the puck for minutes at a time is annoyingly stupid

    • @Waty8413
      @Waty8413 6 лет назад +6

      At lower levels of play, inline's rules definitely create a game with more offense and trading chances. The problem is, once you get into any sort of organized competitive play, or even better rec league teams, all you get is ultra conservative puck possession games. It's not even impressive puck control like when an ice team maintains possession in the offensive zone under heavy pressure form the d, it is just is playing keep away until one team or the other misplays the puck.

    • @binks321
      @binks321 6 лет назад +1

      That's how it was in the 90's. Look at old RHI videos of pro roller hockey. Checking was allowed, although fighting was an ejection though i think.Checking is a bit of a grey area in roller. These guys playing pro have actual jobs outside of this and don't do this for a living. Injuries would be a problem.

    Not making fun of this hockey, it’s just extremely boring. I grew up only playing roller because I’m from southwest Florida and we didn’t have any ice. I played roller at a high level and it’s just brutal to watch what “pro” is. They have Narch finals at my home rink every few years and I don’t go because of this.

      Their wheels are super hard compared to the skaters and slide easily. The skates are shaped just like a goalies ice skate. They wouldn't be able to slide in shoes and would probably tweak knees and ankles.

    • @Chris07258
      @Chris07258 5 лет назад +3

      As a goalie, I find it more difficult to wear shoes than skates (you move way to slow then) and prefer skater skates than goalie skates, increases mobility for myself as I tend to play aggressive

  • @davidrash9748
    @davidrash9748 6 лет назад +6

    This is hockey! Push the puck to offensive zone and get some shots! This hold the puck and cycle through your own zone the entire time is frigging stupid. I’m glad the black team scored first cause they got the puck and played hockey. Then I stopped watching

    • @Waty8413
      @Waty8413 6 лет назад +3

      Yeah and the worst part about it is that the "better" the teams are, the more you see the this. In-line almost needs some sort of a reverse-offsides rule to force teams to press the attack. I don't mind lack of offsides when entering the offensive zone but passing way back into your own end at the slightest pressure from the d on every rush is stupid and boring.
