Penelope brings home a new family member to Puy Vidal! As the entire team at the Château comes together to finish the Pavilion suite, dubbed the Suite Oiseaux, or "Bird" suite by Julia. Wallpapering, painting, floor installations, bedroom decor, elevator refurbishing, these are just a few of the dozens of tasks needed to be completed before the arrival of our Creative Retreat guests!

These are the adventures of Julia, her partner Carolina, her sister Penelope, and her parents Maruca and Robert, an American family taking a leap of faith and living out a long-awaited dream of moving to the French countryside.

The puppy is gorgeous but he should be kennel trained. It will become his safe place especially thru thunderstorms and such. It will give you piece of mind that he’s not doing something he’s not supposed to and you can work for awhile without being so sidetracked. Good for sleeping at night too. You are training him not the other way around, it sounds like he’s been training you. After a week you need to extend his nighttime bathroom breaks longer every week so by week 4 you are at least getting a good 5 hrs sleep at one time. Most dogs will learn that it’s not nice to sleep in their toilet!! So they tend to not ‘go’ in the kennel. Have fun with him but don’t let him train you!!

Troubadour is so cute. She wants Prince Wendell to play with her so bad! When I got my second pup, my first pup potty trained him to go outside in 2 weeks! Puppies are so lovable!❤
You may want to start a professional dog training class. Never too young to learn how to behave. Especially as he looks like he’s going to be a big dog. Good luck!

I am pleased to report that Wendell has a crate which is a hand me down from a Troubadour, and Wendell is excelling. I want to be proud, but this says much more about him than it does about me. At 13 weeks he is good for 5-6 hours of sleep at night in or out of his crate, he knows “sit”, “stay”, “out”, but he is still learning “down”.
We had that absolute pleasure of hosting a dog trainer in our workshop who taught him “front” very effectively.
He is still in his angel stage so we expect him to turn into a biting terror soon. Hopefully Troubadour will help show him where to put all his energy 😊

OMG, the dogs are so cute and I love their names. I just don't know where you all find your energy! It's hard to tell who works the most, but what a champion Carolina is, still soldiering on with all her injuries. Good luck with the retreat ladies and gentleman.

Seeing Wendell and how treasured he is, was such a treat. Our beloved goldie passed away last year so this vlog has been viewed through tears. Love how much care you put into your vlogs. Please don’t ever change them. It sets you apart from all the others. Apparently there’s about 80 ‘ish’ chateau/French life Chanel’s out there, and so many of them hound viewers for subscription, Patreon, vlog sponsorship sign ups and more. I don’t have anything against that and their right to earn something from sharing so much of their lives. I’m happy to subscribe and like and occasionally I might buy a coffee if the content touches my heart. However, I love the fact that you show us what you offer and the blood, sweat and tears that it’s built on and don’t panel beat us into anything else. There’s a lot of integrity in what and how you show us your life. Your pace of production and depth of content, is just right to keep us wanting more, rather than feeling mildly curious but a little ‘ho hum’ about it…You never fail to impress!

Carolina is a gem! We are so in love with all of you, but she is a jewel that should be cherished. I love her ability to figure out how to make things works, with all of your amazing abilities, she figures out how to make things work. I hope someday to be able to visit!

When doing wallpaper you need to overlap a bit as it can shrink a tad and create gaps
I'm exhausted watching all of the activity... you would definitely find me hanging out with the dogs . Is it necessary to move everyone around every time there is a workshop? I suppose you have to consider number but it seems such a lot of work for a temporary fix.... I caught some of your live IG workshops and evryone seemed to be enjoying their surroundings so I think it was a great success... well done everyone 😊

What a chore obtaining and managing supplies for guests and family-and managing them so the supplies don’t walk, or if they do, being able yo track the supplies so you can potentially bill guests or family members for items as you are running a business. The moving rooms, well, as you are a business, I imagine there are guest rooms and dedicated family rooms or will need to be. Also not easy to do with family and who has final and ultimate say or is there compromise even with rooms. A harder job than it appears-shipping and receiving and supply maintenance and inventory, separating family and business and living together as a family; last but not least producing video of the whole processes and journey to entice and maintain current and future business. Great job and a hard job!!🎉❤

Hi guys. Just a comment on your message regarding your vlog posting process. Having been a member of the chateaux vlog community for 3 years now, we are a ravenous group, greedily searching for good content to devour from you blessed, brave people who are living the lives that we only dream of. Your videos tend to be much longer than all the others. They are always very good. I imagine this allows you more living your life. However, you might want to consider cutting the videos in half and posting twice a week. I dont know how this works in the algorithms, but I think it would increase your subscribers. I've noticed as different vloggers have joined the community and done this, their subscribers seemed to increase rapidly. You probably wouldn't need more footage... maybe more editing? I don't know. Just a thought from an old grandmother viewer 😂.
Vlogging isn't their business model. It might be a small portion of it, but its not the main income generator or how the bills get paid. They don't need to become another RUclips nightmare like Chateau Diaries or Doing It Ourselves where its constant begging for money & gifts.
We don't want to see them end up as another sub category for TattleLife.
Personally, I love and appreciate the longer videos. I feel like we get a greater sense of their lives. I always grab a cup of coffee or glass of wine and savour the time I spend with this family. Of course, I'll support them no matter what, but this sets them apart from all of the other channels. Twice a month would be great, but that may come with time once they get their business processes nailed down.

@loloholmes2793 Ur right but this is some of our favorite channel and what I suggested is they could take turns pick which week is best for u and each week 1 person does a video that way it's not put on the same person to do it and we will get different content because personally I love when mama cooks a meal for the family, then we get cooking, decorating, shopping, carpentry, going to Shop for antiques and no 1 person has to do it all the time.. No I know it's not there income but we just love this beautiful FAMILY and that's what it's all about they are teaching us all different things..😊😊
Prince Wendell is so adorable. I had a golden retriever many years ago so the breed is close to my heart. I get tired watching all of you! You have such a strong work ethic but even then it's a huge undertaking. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.

If you check the last vlog of @ourfrenchchateau ( they are from San Fran and bought a chateau) she mentions why she puts on primer with a brush instead of rolling - says it peels away if not - then she may use a roller for final painting and I think she also uses French paint
I just watched their latest vlog and she mentioned they use Earthborn paints ( clay based) and it's British but there is a company that ships british paints to france so you can check out the last vlog and she put in links - hope this helps with your future projects

Each one of you brings your character and talents to the essence of the chateau. We are all wanting you to succeed which I have no doubt you will. The chateau is spectacular and oozes charm! You must pinch yourselves to think you are living in this reality. I know it’s a massive amount of workload but hope you get time to smell the roses and just breathe.

Those foam back carpets lose there structure after decades on the floor. Many companies still sell them, the foam was not normally for
insulation but a better underlay than paper.

This is My favorite channel on utube I know u all are busy but oh boy do I wish u had 1 video a week even if u had to sit the camera up and let it go and do ur thing.. It shows how women can run a business do carpentry work I love watching the cooking segments and decorating... Like I said it's my favorite channel.. I know if u put out a video per week u can easily get to 500,000 subscribers and more the channel is just that good.. Even just doing a cooking video where u take us to the market to ur finished meal cooked.. Or on some of ur shopping trips.. Maybe yall can make a chart and each 1 take a week, On ur week it's ur turn to make a video that week.. The more subscribers the more u can remodel in the Chateau and other projects u have this winter.. I try sharing to Facebook episodes but they are to far apart.. Changing up to each 1 of u are responsible for that video that week,, ur parents, ur sister, u and ur partner then all together 1 video a month just a suggestion I just would love to see more of u beautiful people and more of ur channel personly I think ur channel would be bigger than Chateau diaries!!! Let's get to 500,000 😊😊😊❤❤❤ OH have u ever thought about remodeling the tower beside the paint shop when u come thru the gate for ur office and put a upstairs in it for tons of storage.. I think yall may have thought at 1 time it was the Chapel and u could maybe have a log burner in it.. ....PAINT= After 35 years in France the only brands I will use are Valentine as it is a decent quality, but the colors are rather milky -and-Ripolin their colors are true to samples and when you want a red, they have it...they aren't readily available everywhere as other brands....UK paints are Farrow and Ball which is everywhere in France -and- Little Greene, they both have catalogs...I have V33 as their colors are rather dead looking compared to their samples, Tollens is really low in pigments, there are a couple of higher end French brands but their color selections aren't too extensive unless you only want wimpy colors, dusty colors and pastels...
...you do know that with all the bedroom changes someone is going to CRACK because they are tired of "sleeping around"......
Smart to pick that small area for your first wallpapering adventure. Interesting paper. Good job.
Also a room that folks don't spend a lot of time in.
Hats off to each & everyone of you, including Wendall! Your effort is tremendous! Not sure if this idea could/may help, until you are farther along with renovations. Could you each take 1 guest room & be in charge of it "guest preparation wise" to ease the overall deadlines. Also, put basic items, (towels, sheets, toiletries, & so forth)(color coordinated) into a clear bin for that specific room, along with a check list taped to the lid. If the room permits, size wise, maybe locate a decorative trunk/hope chest to put at the foot of each bed. You could maintain the bin in there, which would be out of site for the guest. You are all amazing! Way to go,,,for not going the patreon route too! I have the utmost admiration for you with that avenue!

Taking on 10 acres of land myself which was overgrown and bringing it back to some semblance of order has taken almost 4 years of hard labour and a lot of still expensive 2nd hand heavy duty equipment, and we still are not there yet fully, it was nowhere as overgrown and unkempt as this place. Be very aware your heart don’t overwhelm your head. Good luck with your search.
Good day from the Finger Lakes in New York. I heard you say that you would be travelling to London to investigate paints. I saw on the Manor and Maker vlog with Sara and Stephen from Chateau de Saint-Germain-des-Pres who had a French-based representative from Green & Little to advise them on paint colors for their chateau. Just a thought that might help with choosing paint colors in the meantime before you are able to visit England's paint companies. But I am sure a trip to London would still be wonderful.

I agree with your color change in the bedrrom. What a difference it makes next to the baseboards! However, with the yellow in the hall, I think any connected room would look Easter-eggy. As much as I've liked the yellow when i first saw it, I think it's going to pose more problems as you renovate further.
Are you going to continue the wood down the stair treads instead of the red carpet?
