The new mass effect looks great
Unity loved this comment because they want studios like bioware to use their engine

omg that terrain hologram, give me the knowledge
Shaders.
Mr.K, are you serious? 😂
This video is about 2018.3 VFX system
In the end it's all about shaders. VFX editor is part of the new render pipeline i guess (didn't follow so much lately) that tries to do a lot for Unity users because not many are ready to go into the hassle of learning shaders. But you should. You can display anything the way you want with shaders, without waiting a tool release
Mr.K, yes, of course you’re right. Everything with rendering is done through shaders. I thought you meant that it’s pure shaders. VFX is a composition system, it connects different materials with shaders to a single pipeline.
Sounds great, I might take a look at it.
Last year unity improvements are really impressive. Keep clutching on. I love volumetric lights with dust in the air, it makes the whole scene so tangible and realistic.
UNITY! 😱😱😱 wtf this is cool!
Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!
Ok. Unity has finally gotten serious. Impressive stuff =).
Honestly I just want to see more of the story. C'mon Unity, make a sequel!
For everyone asking "Let me play with it" - just google "Unity-Technologies SpaceshipDemo Git" and you can download the example project/ look at how their vfx work.
The terrain hologram as Diegetic UI for Planet Fast Travel selection would look great in something like Star Wars KOTOR 3, I'd love to see it.
Unity should pull a Valve and create first-party games
Agreed, making games and tech demos are different
Really awesome, the fire looked great. I can’t wait to see weather effects.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING if i would live in 2010. What is really amazing is how eazy people get impressed by stuff that's sually being done by students in a couple of evenings using some other tools.
ur so cool
We are waiting for 2nd part!
When they do this stuff its usually just one demo/part to show off the capabilities.
1:01 love the volumetric light effects
Over the last year or so #Unity3D has finally caught up to Unreal Engine rendering capabilities. Great to see.
1:16 that topographic map is also quiet nice, wonder how it was done. Particles or meshes?
@Martino Fontana thanks for the insight. For all the others here is info about the Visual Effects Graph by #Unity3d themselves : ruclips.net/video/SUZzJcBIK80/видео.html
Wonder why Unity is building another tool which is very similar to another they already have, instead of making the first one more powerfull.
The color grading on this is amazing!!!
This needs to become a full game!
Unity should create one triple A game
Personally I would love to see more of this game!
It's looking like it's almost possible now! (Almost)
Landon J Powell -- "Almost"?
@@Clystron426
Yes, almost. The engine lacks a AAA workflow and the default PBR shaders look a bit poorly implemented. It also lacks a good many AAA techniques that you'll have to implement yourself.
@iKnowAndiSeeEverything WTF, they are not interested in making a game.
This thing is dope. I think those 4 dislikes were accidentally pressed.
Either Unreal engine users, or people at AAA studios whose bosses won't let them work in anything but their in-house engines. 😂
@@Bakamoichigei *cough* Bethesda *cough*
@@lorismartial1832 their gamebryo engine needs to die in a goddamn fire... Or just unlock the framerate and let physics do all the work. 😏
@@Bakamoichigei when I bought fallout 4 I thought bugs would be fixed in the weeks later... 3 years from launch I still can't run the game properly. And, now they put out fallout 76 with the exact same engine and telling everyone "buy our game, bugs will be fixed by launch" fuckers. It almost makes me want to boycott TES5
@@lorismartial1832 Argh!!! I know what you mean. When I read that not only does FO76 still have the same framerate-tied physics issue, but that you could use it to outrun everybody by looking at the ground, I was like "Are you fucking kidding me with this shit?!"
Man i really need to learn Unity. The best Engine for sure
Alien Isolation realism level, ue4 and unity are now pretty close to each other
Unity has, once again, absolutely CRUSHED it in terms of visuals! I can't wait to use these features in my own work ^_^
Have you recently experienced head trauma?
@@landonpowell6296 have you? You seem very childish, seems like you hit your head harder than you realised.
Soooo Sweet. I'm bored to see every years stunning games that look the same because all made on UE4. I'm so happy to see unity coming heavy to the AAA scene.
who makes the best free engines? Unity!
Mmm try unreal engine
@@andykotz2210 Unreal engine you have to pay and unreal gonna lose to unity if his not update his engine, thx bye!
you have to pay unreal royalty fees forever while unity has no royalty fees.
@@Asinsful I mean, you have to pay in both cases if you're selling your game, and in case with Unreal you'll only have to if sells are high
if you don't sell your game you don't have to pay in both cases as well
Brilliant, Unity never fails to impress!
You had my curiosity, now you have my full attention.
subnautica 3 looks awesome.
It`s super amazing demo, I hope somebody will create something like this
Nice to see somebody's love for battlestars
This looks like something strait out of DOOM, or Alien: Isolation. I'm so glad to see Unity Engine is no longer some generic voxel based engine anymore. Unfortunately all the indie game devs that have been around for a while are still stuck on old Unity Engines dating back to 2016 and trying to upgrade just to the 2018 version has been a nightmare for a lot of devs. Doubt will see anything using the 2019 engine until 2025, since it takes about that long to develop a new game, since adopting it into a new game can take years.
We are still early stages of our development luckily, so we just moved up from latest 2017 to the latest 2018.3, super excited
@@ccgreniewicki everything is always in a perpetual "early development."
@@fragalot lol that's true, but in my first half year I was working alone, then pulled on a team over the second half of the year of 3 more people. Getting people focused and organized took some time as well as building the lore and storyline is a big thing. We are just now beginning to work on actual Gameplay Mechanics and haven't even fleshed out levels yet. But for a first time attempt, I'd still call it solid progression regardless. Any AAA title is average of 4-5 years in development. We are noobs trying to create a solid storyline game with modern day mechanics and graphics, so having only taken 2 years so far, I feel pretty good.
@@ccgreniewicki That's great.. but sorry. i don't know what work you've been doing. what game are you working on? I might go check it out.
Unity is never used to make Actual Games of this quality. Name one !
My team is working on a project now that fits along this art style and realism goal actually. Though normally no, you don't see these types of games made in Unity, I think Unity is trying to step up their reach and it is working for us.
Lovely job as always
now this is a model worth striving for
Ie there a way to get this whole project? Looks epic, and I want to know how it's made.
Naw that would be too convenient ...
Well that was uplifting
Why there are no reflections on objects from sparks?
Needs rtx to be enabled
wow that cut scene awsome
Look`s soo Awsome :D
1:09 How is this orange glow fog is done - from the windows?
If real expert developers work on this engine they will make games better than GTA 6
wow awesome, this core and the hologram
Wow! That's the passenger movie
Starfield? 😂
Looks incredible
great monday morning
Sweet. 2:02 reminds me so much of Homeworld.
bruh that lady voice is literally from text to speech I just burst a laughter everytime I hear her
Is this the evolution of the shadergraph? Or is this a separate tool?
It's a separate tool. The Visual Effects Editor. You can find it on Unity's GitHub
This is really Awesome! Unity y the best engine I have known! :O
Amazing visual effects! :D
A tech demo made me cry.
Love Unity😘
Is this present in the current version of unity? "visual-effect-graph", wow this is fabulous
the new doom looks great
Woah good to see progress on this! When is this going to be available for public?
Wooo! Amazing!!!
Very cool... but when can we get a properly functional Animator Sub-State system?
The surprising thing is that the new Macs can run this demo at a pretty much constant 60 frames
Who thought that repeating whether you can hear me 3 times in a span of 7 seconds as most of the demo's voice audio was a good thing?
I'm wondering what kind of Nasa PC they had to render this (in realtime I assume) but just knowing that this is possible with the engine is amazing
DEAD SPACE sounds!! EA we need new DS!
This is the future of mobile games
It's seems a bit like the modern Doom games :) Will this demo be available to download and study it or at least some blog post or video explaining how each effect was done?
Fantastic!!!
Stunning
This is excellent.
Wow!!! Really promising!
This is so amazing
Beautiful.
That's right Unreal.
Really Awesome!
looks great(UE has something similar) but like usual Unity doesn't have the same in content tutorial so people can pick it up and learn. If Unity whats to get at par with UE they need more community content to get people interested.
Now time to wait for visual scripting system
This reminds me Unreal Tournament 2003-2004. "Warning. Core has been damaged!"
Omg this is Awesome how to create that holograms?
Wow, Unity is starting to look like a modern engine!
It's been a modern engine since it's development in 2005.
@@OberZineProductions
Lol
Extraordinario...!!!
Really amazing :)
Unity? O_o Not bad!
Nice job !!!
Is it possible to download this project? I want to look at it and have no idea what anything does.
Now even Michael Bay can use Unity.
oh .that is great
Woow 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome!!
Rah should just make a game that starts off with this XD
Were those ships made with the Visual Effect Graph? I can't find the tutorial.
Holographic effects can be crated with Visual Effect Graph, but models are imported from software like Blender or Maya.
If you're just getting started with Visual Effect Graph, we recommend checking out the different tutorials over on Learn: learn.unity.com/search?k=%5B%22q%3AVisual%20Effect%20Graph%22%5D
damn, incredible.
Can I use this for my video? I'll give credit.
Hard to believe this was actually made using Unity
feel pity for you.
Hard to believe there are still people who think that its impossible to make Unity games look good.
@@CustomPhase he's just trying to troll, don't be directed by his mighty fingers. ☺
It is possible ... but most of the time it is not just Unity but a lot of added and self-made tools on top of it.
@@CustomPhase Yeah I have been using Unity since 2014 and I know that you can create amazing scenes within Unity, my comment should be read as "How hard was this programmed?"or something like that
Tell me this is good for compositing so I can drop Houdini?
How do we access the demo. Please do a release to go with Unity 2018.3.06F (Beta). It would be really great to get a peak at how it was put together!!!
Is this scene implemented with HDRP and Pure ECS?
Is this "Vanilla" Unity or some kind of marketing/promotional purpose heavy modded Unity that has been created just for this video?
It's vanilla Unity using the HD Render Pipeline (HDRP) and the new Visual Effect Graph. - Matt S.
And nothing else?
*Crickets chirping*
@@smuphix when they release this tech demo you'll be able to see for yourself how it's made in the engine!
@@OberZineProductions I am looking forward to it! :) Let's hope for the best!
Can we build off of this to a full game?
Wow!
Unreal is dead ! Glory to our new king ! Unity !
To an untrained eye (like a Unity user) this might seem to look Unreal quality, but it's honestly not even close. The volumetrics are pretty poor and look really sprite-particle-esque.
@@landonpowell6296 You mean the (more or less faint) mist/smoke visible at times? This is a VFX graph tech demo. Except for one or two God Rays, or so, a lot of the rest are most certainly GPU particles systems created using the VFX graph, not a screen space volumetric lighting effect. So of course they look like sprites (because they are). If you ask me for an early test it looks pretty nice. Though I'm not a fan of realism/hyper realism so little flaws don't bother me anyway.
Amazing
Hell yeah!
Unity is #1 game engine today.
false
but true at the same time
If you check for false you will get true as a result
var UnityNumber1 = Unity > Everyone ? true : false;
Debug.Log(UnityNumber1);
Console Result:
True
That's a bit of a stretch. This demo just looks like normal UE4 stuff. Unity is a bit behind.
there is no #1
Unity is on par with cryengine and unreal engine
cryengine? Oh you mean that buggy legacy mess that requires a team of programmers just to get running? Hahah
CryEngine is dead sadly, now the "fight" is between Unreal and Unity, at least in 3D, in 2D Unity has already won.
This enviroments are cool
Star Citizen have this graphic level for long time ago.
