I have done many savings goals in my lifetime. My most special was to save to become a mother through adoption and to stay home with my children until they were in elementary school. Another was to save enough to retire early and travel the world. It is amazing what you can accomplish by persistent discipline with your finances and setting your intention. The younger you are, the better! Bravo! Great video!
New subscriber from Australia. Just want to thank you for your videos. It's great to see young people who are resisting the pressure to overconsumption. I started like this in the 1990s and I have always been rebelling mainstream culture. Most people are brainwashed to spend all their money on things they don't need and don't enjoy life.
Hi 👋 I see that everywhere around me, people with a lot of material things but they are not happy or don’t seem happy. That’s why I am so passionate about minimalism and share my thoughts and tips on how to live more simply in all aspects of life 🌊 Thank you for your comment 🩵
It's an older book but "Your Money or Your Life" by Vicki Robbins and Joe Domingez is excellent. The basic premise is to help you save by realizing that every time you spend unwisely, you are stealing from yourself!! I'm now in my 60's and totally financially comfortable for retirement due to living below my means while I was earning.
appreciate the numbers! I find this stuff really interesting. ~$540 per month is a very low spend, even considering no rent - well done! My questions are: 1. what happened to the apartment you bought at 21? 2. how do you get your grocery + restaurant bill so low? I can't seem to go below $400 per month just on groceries (not even counting eating out, which I only do as a treat maybe once a month) as a single person who doesn't eat a lot in NZ - everything is super expensive here! Is food cheap in France? 3. What is your travel budget like? Do you have a goal of how little you'd like to spend per day/week? 4. How do you portion out your savings amongst your three big savings goals? Does each just get a third of the amount you're saving per month? not a lot of questions at all, haha Thanks in advance!
Hi 😄 1. I sold my apartment last summer (I will talk about it in another video) 2. I kind of always buy the same food and I eat plant based : veggies, fruits, pasta, rice, quinoa and lentils, dark chocolate and that’s almost it so it’s not expensive (I don’t buy meat, dairies, alcohol, sweets, cleaning products etc etc) I will do a video about what I buy at the grocery store 😉 And in the restaurant I just drink the free water, I don’t have dessert etc so the bill is not so expensive. I heard that NZ is way more expensive (food) that in France ! 3. I will do very soon a video about explaining our project of the world tour soon ☺️ 4. I put money aleatory in my two savings account, and I transfer every month automatically the same little amount of money to the savings account for buying a future house 😊 Hope that answers your questions and thank you for asking 🤓
This was such a lovely video ❤️ I’m currently working on being better with my money and saving instead of shopping too much. I spend a lot on food and so I’m trying to cut back to the essentials ( and I’m attempting to cut down/ out soda and sweet drinks ) wonderful video ! I learned a lot.
Hi! Yes you will save a lot of money with buying only the essentiels and from time to time buy the soda that you love 🧡 I want to make more videos about money and how to save while doing the groceries shopping ✍🏻 Thank you really much. ❤️❤️
Great video, simple and to the point!👍 Elaborating on the food budgeting would be helpful. I eat vegetarian, husband eats meat. Meat is such a huge cost, unfortunately. A week of what you typically buy, where do you buy it and do you factor in restaurants in that food cost? $200 a month is amazing! Thank you!!
it is not messy, actually a quiet good and concise video. You can find many videos on financial advices, it is hard to focus on just few things. My saving goal is the private school my son is visiting. The payment is due twice per year, so at the moment I pay one installment I start saving for the second one. It is a luxury I know, but he feels very good there and learns a lot. Previous year, I spent a lot of money in the summer and when the autumn came it was very very difficult to collect the necessary amount. I had very stressful October I remember, so I promised myself it will not happen again. To sleep calm knowing that you can pay your bills is so important. Thank you, Louise. You have this natural charisma that sometimes when I hear something from you, it stays with me :). I am usually very much seduced by skincare and makeup, but after watching some of your videos, now I really wait to finish in full one product and only after that to buy a new one. ... and I started re-using the tea bags:). Not for saving purposes, but really there is still so much taste in them, it is a sin to throw them away :). I will be waiting for next videos! Greetings from Bulgaria!

Great video! Here in our state in the U.S., every high schooler is required to take a Financial Literacy class before they graduate. I homeschool my kids and have had 2 now-adult children use Dave Ramsey's "Foundations in Personal Finance" and I'm very proud they are being wise with their money so far. I even learned some things in the class too, haha. Current goal is to pay off our house, save up money, and take our family to Europe for a couple weeks because the whole family has also sacrificed things as we've worked to try to pay off our house. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with all of us! I'm always up for money videos :)
Savings accounts: Generosity (to be able to make donations and to give my nieces and nephew money at Christmas), adventures (for hiking trip and one big family trip where we pay to bring our family), financial peace of mind (6 months expenses emergency fund), annual crap we might need fund! (For unexpected things with cats or car or sth else). It feels great to keep it simple and so aligned with our values
Thank you for the video, im always looking forward to a new video release from you. You have already inspired me a lot. In my heart i have always been a minimalist and good at saving my money. But i really feel the pressure of social media on my brain. So im trying to cut that out! Also our dream is to buy a house in the country so that is probably my biggest saving goal! 🐐
I’m so happy if I can help you in any way ✨😌 That’s good that you know that social media has this negative effect on your spending habits, so you cut off social media for a bit maybe and see what happens 😄 Ohhh I feel you, would love to have a house (farm) in the countryside one day too 🐶🐴🐥🐎🦔🍃
Great video! I am 51 and my husband and I saved enough money to buy a house cash and pay for college for both our kids. My son has 2 years left then we will be debt free. We’re doing some home repairs and saving for retirement and hopefully travel in the future. I’m trying to teach my children to save as well. I totally agree that schools should teach more about finance. Take care
Yes!!!! Make other videos about financial stuff!! I’m 20 and I’m trying everyday to become more and more minimalist , I will read the 3 books u recommended! I really resonate with your lifestyle ❤
Another great video 👍. You are very wise to have an emergency fund already, it's such a weight off one's mind. My husband and I had to pause transfers to our fund because, right now, his mother needs his spare dollars more than we do🙂. We'll get back to it once things settle down. Greetings from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!
I’m saving up for an emergency fund since I’m self-employed (to make up for at least 6 months of expenses), and then also for my pension for the future.

Good morning Louise, thanks for another great video! I’m interested in more videos on financial advice. 😊🙋🏻♀️ My favorite savings goal was to save up for my husband to establish his own business while at the same time I’ve stayed at home with the kids. We really cut out any unnecessary expenses. However, I have a small monthly allowance for my personal spending (for my hobbies etc.) and I’d love to save up a small portion of it, but I always struggle to do so. It’s still a work in progress. Maybe I should try the advice of paying myself first! 😊❤

Im saving for travelling, for my daughter if she ever plans expensive studies and my retirement (still in a long time but i hope i can enjoy my time then as i enjoy it now as we often go on weekends and so on )
Thank you so much for this video! I have a question: "When you pay yourself the 10% (when your pay comes in) how do you decide what amounts to put in each of your savings accounts? My savings goals are much like yours with an emergency fund, but also for a car once my current one is no longer working for me and I have a retirement 'nest egg'. I would like to find a good way to invest some money as well!
Not a mess :-). Love videos like this. Any more tips will be great :-). My saving goals are mainly to be able to pay off my mortgage early. Or downsize and be free from a mortgage:-)
One of my goals is to save enough to move cities. I am disabled and it is hard for me to get transportation. In the other town is a school I want to attend. Living closer to the school would make it possible for me to go.
Hi thanks for the great money tips, really grateful ❤ I have a beauty/hygiene related question, which, if any deodorant you recommend ? Today when I put this native spray deodorant which is supposed to be all natural and aluminum free, it burned so much, I felt like I was about to have a heart attack. 😢
Wow, 200€ for groceries. This is really good. I live in Switzerland and just buying food in the supermarket will always leave me being poor. Just spent about 80€ (90CHF) for some dates and veggies😢... Really excited to see more of your trip around the world!
I highly recommend you to read the books that I talked about in this video, they really helped me when I was in the process of saving for buying my first apartment 🤓
Bonjour Louise !
What a great video, this is exactly the topic Im interested in recently, thank you for doing this and for being so authentic and honest with us, it is not an obvious thing nowadays. You spoke about your expenses, could you please give some examples of how you earn your money, what are the sources of your income? I also have another question, while you are travelling to you work at all or just use the savings? Thank you again, have a wonderful trip!
Hi!! I’m glad you liked it 🤗 My sources of income are my job : I was an actress and model. And we are going to live with just our savings for the trip, if we find a job on the way cool but otherwise yeah just with the savings 😊❤️
I LOVE this channel and agree with almost everything you share - but for American users, please don’t use rich dad poor dad as your guideline. I will teach you to be rich by Ramit Sethi is way better (and it’s truly a minimalist approach to gaining wealth and simplicity in your finances)
I think the concept of money is difficult for some people to understand. So videos like this are useful. I was thinking about savings: do you invest in mutual funds like ETFs or is it a savings account. For the long term an investment may be a better option. My saving goal is mainly retirement. One of the best financial things I ever did was start a personal pension scheme. Love the colour of your eyes.
@@minimalou_yt invest early is the better option to capitalize on compounding interest. The later you invest the less time you have for your money to grow and the more you have to account for risk of the ups and downs of the market. Even if you just build the habit of investing like $10 a week now will pay off so much in the future
I think how you budget is great. I am curious though about one thing. You mentioned several times that you were able to save all your money when you were younger to buy your apartment without any help from your family. What was your living accommodation like at that time? Were you able to live at home with your family for free while you saved up all of your earned money? If so, it would be nice to hear you give gratitude toward your family who helped you buy your first apartment by supporting you while you saved. If you didn’t live with them, it would be nice to hear you talk about where you lived at that time of your life and what the circumstances were that allowed you to save all of your income. Buying your own apartment so young is amazing and it really inspired me. Thank you for sharing.
No I wasn’t living with my parents otherwise obviously I would have talk about them. I was renting a really old house so the rent was really low and that way I saved 90% of my income 🙂
Salut !
Loooved this video! absolutely love watching budgeting videos🥰 I usually write up my expenses each month just to see ( fixed expenses stay same anyway) as my salary comes in, pay my house, bills etc and leave money in my monzo account just for food for the month and the rest to savings. I then use my monzo credit card all month for anything else I need to buy and pay it all right before my next salary and take the amount pay from savings🙈 It has been such a good system for me to stay organised and watch my spending. Do you document or write any budget plans or track your expenses?😮 Maybe i'm just crazy😆🥰
@@mysli_vsluhI sold it because I’ve moved to Paris (it was not in Paris) and had troubles with the real estate agency, I will talk about it in a dedicated video 😊
Bonjour! Thank you for the super interesting video! Please make another video about budgeting, saving tips, what are the essential spending of yours in France. Also, doing grocery shopping would be super interesting too! How you do it, what do you buy, etc. Merc dt bonne journée! 😊
Hi Louise, thank you for a great video!! I would be interested to know what you do with your savings? Are you investing? Any recommendations? I am saving a lot of money for a world tour in 3 years. I have two interest accounts but I think 2.5% interest each. I have not done any investments yet. Thanks as always for your videos. I really enjoy them xx
your beautiful voice & English is distracting. lol I’m currently working on saving 6 months- 1 year of living expenses so that I can have peace of mind 😍
Love the video! 🫶Thanks for all the great tips. I totally agree-money management should definitely be taught in schools instead of having to figure it out through trial and error in our early twenties.

Learning how to manage our money should be taught in schools, especially public schools.

Thank you! I don’t want to invest now, maybe in the future. So for now it’s just my savings account.
You mentioned several
times that you were able to save all your money when you were younger to buy your apartment without any help from your family.
How much money did you save for world tour? I am also saving to go around the world in 3 years, not sure how much money to savw
Hi! I am preparing a video about this subject, stay tuned 😄
Salut !
Bisous
Hello ! J’ai fais un crédit sur 25 ans 🤗
Merci beaucoup 🩷
Loooved this video! absolutely love watching budgeting videos🥰 I usually write up my expenses each month just to see ( fixed expenses stay same anyway) as my salary comes in, pay my house, bills etc and leave money in my monzo account just for food for the month and the rest to savings. I then use my monzo credit card all month for anything else I need to buy and pay it all right before my next salary and take the amount pay from savings🙈 It has been such a good system for me to stay organised and watch my spending.
Do you document or write any budget plans or track your expenses?😮 Maybe i'm just crazy😆🥰
Hi!! Yes I track my expenses every morning just by checking my bank account but that’s all 🤗

Je pense exactement la même chose : mais pourquoi on n’enseigne pas la gestion financière en France à l’école ???
Peut-être un jour ! ☺️
Where did you get your silver earring (earrings) from? I really like them.
Hi! It’s Amaya 🤗
Which style? I can't find them.
Have you thought about investing?
Yep - don’t want to for now
Hi. You've mentioned that you bought an apartment a few years ago. So I wonder why did you rent one up till recently?
Hi, I sold my apartment last summer 😊
@@minimalou_yt Why did you sell it and decide to rent again?
@@mysli_vsluhI sold it because I’ve moved to Paris (it was not in Paris) and had troubles with the real estate agency, I will talk about it in a dedicated video 😊
Good Content, thank you ❤ I save to be a independent and free woman, and to have "fuck you money". I never want to work in a job that I don't like.
Yes to all of that 🙌💪
Bonjour! Thank you for the super interesting video! Please make another video about budgeting, saving tips, what are the essential spending of yours in France. Also, doing grocery shopping would be super interesting too! How you do it, what do you buy, etc. Merc dt bonne journée! 😊
Bonjour 👋 Merci for your nice comment! Yes I will make some videos about finances for sure, thanks for the video ideas 💡 Bonne journée à toi ☀️
hi, what is your currently money income coming from?
I’m was an actress and model :)
Hi!! No I haven’t made any investments for now 😊
your beautiful voice & English is distracting. lol I’m currently working on saving 6 months- 1 year of living expenses so that I can have peace of mind 😍
You talk like inspector Clouseau.^^
Don’t know him but sounds fun 🤣
@@minimalou_yt Hi, thank you for your response.
Insp Clouseau was the figure actor peter sellers played in his pink panther films.
@@tomswan3401 ....From The Pink Panther...I love him and his accent.
Love the video! 🫶Thanks for all the great tips. I totally agree-money management should definitely be taught in schools instead of having to figure it out through trial and error in our early twenties.
Thank you ☺️
