  • We delve into the nuanced distinctions and intersections between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia, two commonly misunderstood and often co-occurring conditions. we outline the primary characteristics of each disorder: ADHD is highlighted as a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting attention, impulse control, and activity levels, whereas dyslexia is described as a learning disorder characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition, poor spelling, and decoding abilities.
Symptoms of ADHD and dyslexia can overlap, such as problems with concentration, organization, and following instructions, leading to potential misdiagnosis or confusion in identifying the underlying issue in affected individuals.

As someone with adhd and not dyslexia on the topic of having a hard time comprehending the text,, id say to test it woth something theyre interested in reading and something theyre not interested in reading, bc if someone has adhd and not dyslexia, but is trying to read something that bores them to death, ill mechanically read stuff multiple times without the words ever sinking in or comprehending, but if its a book i wanna read, then i can do it for hours,,, still sometimes missing words, but not for the lack of ability to decode them, just due to getting distracted or having a harder time focusing at points
