I have been retired here in Hua Hin since last August. I rented a villa for 6 months before buy my own villa. I live on my Social Security of just over 2800USD a month so, I don't pay rent. My monthly expenses of electricity, water, food, Internet run about 1200 a month. I could never do this in the states. I love it here.
@TKDJK Not everyone gets this much. Social Security is based on 35 years of earnings. Then, the average top ten years of those earnings. But it has a cost. They would deduct from my pay about 6.2 percent for this benefit.
@@roberthaas2857 Thank you Robert, Just wanted our Group to know the UK State Pension after 45 years of my contributions is US Dollars 14,000 about 1/2 of Robert. I am an actuary 🤣

Hi Jonny, I'm 70 in good health & semi retired living in Canada. I've been a devoted subscriber to your channel for a few years now and your really making me think about Hua Hin Thailand as a home to hang my hat. This video in particular got me thinking even more, I also watched your friends Tracey & Rays channel, they have only good things to say about their move to Thailand. Hello Johnny! Just arrived in Hua Hin. This is my second trip back to Thailand, and on a retirement R&D Visit. I have visited a number of Cities, but Hua Hin in a short time is my favorite city. I have been living in Thailand for 6 years now and have previously worked here. I want to raise one issue regarding private hospitals, which I had to deal with when I worked here. If you go to a private hospital you have to take into account that if the disease or condition is too risky for the hospital to treat, they will not accept you and refer you to a government hospital. In case you end up there in an emergency, the hospital is obliged to stabilize your condition before they can transfer you to a government hospital. The reason for this is that they are commercial enterprises and thus have to optimize their income. So it is good if you living here (or are a tourist) to be aware of this and inform yourself of the possibilities (e.g. extensive heart surgery, trauma surgery, etc).
This is excatly why so many older Aussie guys head to Thailand, the cost of living in Australia is horrendous combined with the rental crisis many don't have a choice.
Got here in Hua Hin Sunday from Krabi Oct. 29. The drive was just under 8hrs in our rental car. Hubby and I absolutely love it here. We have an appointment tomorrow with a realtor to look at a villa located uphill. We looked at an apartment in downtown Hua Hin today called Marvest. It's a new 3 year old complex but a bit pricey. We're leaving on 2nd November, but look forward to come back to Hua Hin in a couple of years. We plan to selling our house but the US economy isn't that great right now - hopefully it'll turn around.
Awesome video Jonny,I have been many times to Hua Hin,the first time was with my daughter when she was about 16 years (she’s 41 now) and ever since that time,I just love Hua Hin,so now me and my Thai wife are building a little villa in a place called Nice Breeze 9,it’s about 15 minutes outside Hua Hin closer to the mountains, and late 2024 we will move over there,I just wish that the Swedes money was worth more, but we will see,so maybe one day we “bump” in to you Jonny, cheers from us here in Sweden.
I haven't watched one of your videos for awhile, and I was talking to my girlfriend about how nice Hua Hin is as we plan to visit Thailand early next year, so that made me decide to hop on and come to your channel to see what's been up lately, very nice video, its literally perfect for the type of info I want to show her about Hua Hin.

Yep, Hua Hin is overrated. I don't go to malls so there is nothing of interest for me there, instead I live in Cha-am too where I pay less than half the prices for closer to the beach and none of the nonsense
Looking forward to buying Several rounds for you my good friend to be! Can’t tell you how much I love your channel. Fabulous everything that you do is wonderful. Keep it up, mate.
I like how you buzzed around quickly to show all the places. Black Mountain Golf is probably the best course in Thailand. I love how most courses you can play without a membership and at a very low cost compared to others of same quality around the world. I’m just a frequent tourist to this lovely country.
Yes Black Mountains an amazing looking golf course. I like eating at the clubhouse sometimes but I’m not much of a golfer. Maybe that will change in a few years. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
In my opinion it isn't cheap any more, especially in high season. About 4300 Baht greenfee + Caddyfee 350 +tip for the caddy (400) +Cart 700 + taxi + expences for drinks and eating. You can't manage it with the money mentioned in the video. Moreover sometimes the course is very overcrowded (they have about 400 caddys) by big groups may be Koreans and others. The course is fine, but not for playing regularly.....
Hi Sean, hopefully all is going well on the Gold Coast. The cost of living I’m sure would be cheaper than the Gold Coast. I hope it’s giving you a hand to make your decision. Many thanks for watching.

Jonny I see you are doing the consultations for Thailand. I think another great idea as a product for you would be to create a digital product on a big guide for Hua Hin, and almost like a road map for people moving here with info of all the areas and restaurants etc. I think since you are already basically the ambassador of Hua Hin this would do really well.
I'm very happy Hua Hin has got all this recognition - internationally. More good deals might be found in Jomtien where I would prefer to be ! 🤗 Just a simple relaxed frugal retirement -- a few miles in from the beach where it's cheap - but has a lot of food choices nearby. Close enough to Pattaya -- but w/o all the noise and commotion all the time ? > For me an easier trip to Bangkok - their airport - and occasional trips to Siem Reap or anywhere in S E Asia.
Been here for two months after five years on the Thai islands. If I’d have known the place was this good I wouldn’t have bothered with those islands. Great video. Very realistic. 😎👍
Thank you for your very informative video. While we are ready to make the move from the US, the cost of health insurance for seniors (over 65) seems very prohibitive. We cannot afford to pay 1200 per month or more for insurance. I would like to hear from you and others on how they manage their health insurance. I am so disappointed that we may not be able to live in Thailand.
Johnny I'm so glad you did this video this city. I've watched your other videos. It references place and it is top place on my list to come visit. I may be visiting within the next short.of time so hopefully I will see you there.😊😊😊😊
I vacationed at Hua Hin this April. I started out in Bkk. I said enough of this big city. I wanted to go to beach town. I took the train to Hua Hin and fell for that beach town vibe. I am from Orange county, Ca so I like the beach vibe. If you golf there are a lot of courses in area. I just really liked the people there. They are very accomodating for us farangs. They try hard to be hospitable no matter what. I really enjoyed the seafood at the pier.

Thanks for the video. I really appreciate this one. I have been looking at videos for months trying to help me figure out make up my mind on where I want to move to. HauHin was the leader of the cities that I was looking at but after hearing from your sub’s and how safe and quiet it is there I think I might have made up my mind. Thanks a lot. Laison
That is a good video. A comment about prices: Western products (food and goods) are generally cheaper than Canada and only slightly cheaper than the US. For example, coffee is expensive in Thailand. But, Thai food, of course, is a bargain. Rent may, or may not, be cheap depending on your choices. Health care can be expensive for an older person (like me) but packages are available. Dental care is MUCH cheaper than Canada and the US. I live in Thailand for part of the year. With green fees, sailing and entertainment, I don't save a lot of money here; however, I choose to be here for the lifestyle. Of course, the various styles of massage (etc.) are a LOT cheaper in Thailand.
Massages are an important aspect of healthcare and very much underrated by medics, the movement of blood is critical in health and longevity. Keep those massages going!
Great video and great info. I live in Pattaya and it’s very affordable here also but lot more crazy busy. I am 65 and use bolt taxi to get around or the 10b bus. Big C is way better then Lotus yes lotus is more expensive. I am from the states and have all the sports that I like right in my home. The people are fantastic here also. Easy to get to Bangkok only 1 1/2 hours. Thanks again.
Yeah, I think big C actually cheaper. We have a big C here but it’s actually like a mini bigC so the variety of goods isn’t as good as compared to Tesco. 👍😊
Many thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Scuba diving isn’t really that big here. You probably find that bigger down south near Phuket, etc. thanks for subscribing.
Great video. I enjoyed this video so much that i like to see a part two of this location and more opinons and words of wisdom from other expats in that location. Thanks again. Keep up the great work. ❤😂🎉
thank youn Johnny, I missed connecting with back in June . I was there for two weeks and enjoyed the market village Mall and also the other one, which was right next door to my hotel!!
Thailand's romanization started more than 100 years ago during King Rama VI who was educated in English boarding school for several years when he was till a prince. The system was later standardized by Royal Society of Thailand and all official road signs/places adopt this system. Roman alphabets are not confined only to English/American languages. Almost all European languages adopt Roman alphabets as their main writing system except Greece and Russia. Some non-European countries also do likewise including Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Even though most non-European countries have their own native writing system, they still adopt romanization to help foreigners recognize and pronounce road/place names including Thailand, China (pinyin) and Japan (romaji). Westerners or those who learn English as a second language must accept the fact that those romanized words are not necessarily pronounced like English/American common pronunciation. It is easy to adapt once you know how the native pronounce it. In Thailand, "PH" is pronounced aspirated P (people) and the most well-known is "Phuket" while "P" is pronounced non-aspirated P (papa). "KH" is pronounced like "King" such as "Ramkhamhaeng" while "K" is pronounced like "Gong" such as "Krungthep". "TH" is pronounced aspirated T such as "Take" and the most well-known is "Thai" while T is pronounced non-aspirated T such as "one ton". "CH" is pronounced as "J" (jar) such as Chatuchak. It can also be pronounced as "CH" (chat) such as Chang beer.
There was an idiot Person at that time to start this spelling. Thailand why couldn't it be Tailand? Phuket , why nkt Puket - it is obvious right sound. Suphanbury , why not Supunbury. It is so simple...and correct sound & pronunciation Ramkhamheang - Ramkumheang.- This is how Local Thais say it.
Unfortunately, it was Phibun that changed the way Thai people thought and lived. He changed their lifestyle . What Thailand does NOT do , is teach the correct history.
@@User5467h-4etic I agreed, but in those day it has influenced from India writing style. The King elites used it and become the rule for the people. Until today, many of the old soft heads remain the same, still use it in official language.
@@User5467h-4etic Obviously, that "idiot person" YOU mentioned was way SMARTER THAN YOU AND ME AND MANY PEOPLE HERE. IT'S EASY TO BE IGNORANT, POINT A FINGER, CALL NAMES, AND MAKE YOURSELF LOOK COOL ON SOCIAL MEDIA. You'll have to learn the history of Thailand to fully understand all this. How the Thais write both in Thai and English are very much influenced by Indian culture - Indian writing style as Thai language came from BALI SANSKRIT as @jparsit said below. It makes perfect sense to me.

Best ambassador for hua hin 💯 brilliant video
Been here for two months after five years on the Thai islands. If I’d have known the place was this good I wouldn’t have bothered with those islands. Great video. Very realistic. 😎👍
Great show and content Johnny! Next time I'm in Hua Hin I'll drop u a line! As alway's stay cool, kind and generous!
Thank you glad I could be helpful. Look forward to seeing you here soon. Have a great weekend.
I may be visiting within the next short.of time so hopefully I will see you there.😊😊😊😊
That’s great to hear. I look forward to seeing you soon. Have a great weekend.
Hua-Hin is my favorite town since I was young. I'm glad they are happy to live peacfully in my favorite seaside town.
It is very nice town. Thanks for watching.
Hua Hin is for Thai elites weekend stay, Pataya is for young Thais.
Great video Jonny! Thailand definitely ticks all the boxes. All the best to you and your family mate.
I enjoyed watching you Johnny - I just connected to Third Thai's Charm I will watch it next. All Good I stayed at Centara Resort Hua Hin 4 years ago.
Probably your best video yet.
Well done.
Thank you Walter. It was lovely seeing you the other day at bluport 👍😊
Excellent cost breakdown for retiring in Hua Hin. Thank you so much!
Hi Jonny, excellent presentation, so looking forward to visiting Hua hin. Tim from Australia
Thanks Tim
Love the tour and the interview! 5 stars 👍
Thank you for watching 😊
Excellent video, Jonny! Full of very useful information, and a great interview. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks for watching
I appreciate you for sharing your experience with people who are retired and living in Hua Hin Thailand.
Great , informative, interesting and well thought out video !
Thanks mate .
Thank you John I’m glad you enjoyed it
Great content again Johnny, I’m transitioning to online work and will semi retire to Thailand in nxt 18 months, your videos are so helpful mate, cheers from airlie beach QLD
Thank you I’m glad it was helpful. Good luck with your move here Arlie beach, is a lovely spot.👍😊
@@jonnyasia I’m only 42 and recently divorced, looking for somewhere quite that just has a few local spots and Hua Hin looks perfect mate, I cannot wait to check out all of the “Thai Rivera” as I’ve read that area is called mate
Laison
Thank you much appreciated I’m actually editing part 2 now that should be up tomorrow night. Glad you enjoyed it 👍😊
Good interview, enjoyed it very much.
Very detailed comment. Many thanks for watching.👍😊
Massages are an important aspect of healthcare and very much underrated by medics, the movement of blood is critical in health and longevity. Keep those massages going!
Been living in HH since 2006, best place in Thailand IMO
I wouldn’t say that, many better options
Thanks Johnny for such an inspiring informative video , Have a nice weekend , cheers 👌✌
Cheers Stephen glad I could be helpful hope you have a great weekend also👍😊
Incredible!!! I will book your consultation next week!👍👍👍
Awesome! You answered most of the questions in one video!
Thank you is there anything else you would have liked me to cover for future videos. Have a great weekend.
Great video jonny , interesting and entertaining and informative. Hope everyone is well
Thank glad it was helpful
Great video and great info. I live in Pattaya and it’s very affordable here also but lot more crazy busy. I am 65 and use bolt taxi to get around or the 10b bus. Big C is way better then Lotus yes lotus is more expensive. I am from the states and have all the sports that I like right in my home. The people are fantastic here also. Easy to get to Bangkok only 1 1/2 hours. Thanks again.
Yeah, I think big C actually cheaper. We have a big C here but it’s actually like a mini bigC so the variety of goods isn’t as good as compared to Tesco. 👍😊
Greetings from Texas, Great job mate. Keep up the good work. Take Care
Thanks, will do! Have a great weekend
Like everybody else has said, the quality is top notch and I’ve subscribed. How is the scuba diving?
Many thanks for watching. I appreciate it. Scuba diving isn’t really that big here. You probably find that bigger down south near Phuket, etc. thanks for subscribing.
Johny you keep doing what your doing the blogs are good and top quality mean that great stuff
Great video. I enjoyed this video so much that i like to see a part two of this location and more opinons and words of wisdom from other expats in that location. Thanks again. Keep up the great work. ❤😂🎉
Thank you so much for the golf courses info!! Changes everything!!
No problems my pleasure I might do more of a detailed video in the future on the golf courses available here
thank youn Johnny, I missed connecting with back in June .
Thank you for the Thai lesson😛
There was an idiot Person at that time to start this spelling.
Thailand why couldn't it be Tailand?
Phuket , why nkt Puket - it is obvious right sound.
Suphanbury , why not Supunbury. It is so simple...and correct sound & pronunciation
Ramkhamheang - Ramkumheang.- This is how Local Thais say it.
Awesome video Jonny we hope to move to Pran Burri beach area in about 12 months when insurance gets around to fixing our house and then we can sell it!, I have been telling lots of people how good it is in Hua Hin area my wife is Thai and from Bangkok and she wants to move back to Thailand, Im over 60 and being on a pension in Australia these days you barely get enough to survive!
Good luck with the insurance company fixing home I hope it wasn’t damaged too much. Pran Buri is an excellent location. I was actually there last week. Having lunch with friends. They’ve got some amazing café down there now. Good luck with your move.👍😊
Interesting. I’ve been going back to Thailand for the last 9 years. And coming to Hua Hin in August for 3 weeks.

First time watcher. Great video, very informative. Will be in HH in March/April to check it out as possible retirement spot. Any chance you know what gym these guys go to, or one that you’d recommend?

@@jonnyasia You too
Excellent jonney very relevant content, information for those of us who are thinking of retirement and don't know where is the best location in thailand.
Great video! Great information!
Thanks for watching much appreciated
Great informative video.
I did think that the Western food is not that cheap.
When I was living in Issan last year I used to shop at Makro supermarkets to which I found prices very reasonable.
You find that mostly import luxury food items like your cheeses etc. can get pretty pricey but for the rest it’s pretty good prices
❤livin in HuaHin , great for anyone any age ,
Very true can be any age :-) thanks for watching appreciate it
Very positive those guys. Good look to them.
Thank you
Thank you, Jonny, super useful info.
