Rhode Island offers world class striped bass fishing July-August. Make the time to drift eels and you will be rewarded!

Thanks for posting and the details. Most guys won't even show the shoreline! I'll figure these things (fish) sooner or later. Prospecting cost a lot more than it used to:-)

New to fishing, just curious can you only fish eels during the night (dusk until dawn) or are they good to use during the day?

You can fish eels anytime of day.
For the best success, fishing at night will yield the most mature fish.
Large bass will feed during the low light hours as well (dusk and dawn) which is the second best option.

Ty for responding. Could you recommend a size weight to use when drifting the eel? Should I put a sinker on a fishfinder rig, then attach a leader with a circle hook?

      Thank you.
Yeah, I don’t really like to eat bass that much, just fished for ‘sport’ with these.

@@RhodeIslandSportfishing understandable! Found your channel while researching CT coyote hunting. Public land with 17 hmr is impressive. Hoping to get some coyotes this year. Im in tolland county

@@TheAyersoftChannel Thanks. I’ve been calling coyotes for quite a few years now. Figured I would add those to my channel as an off-season kicker.
I have my best success December/January, which is peak mating season.
You will not fool their noses, other senses of theirs can me beat though. Always keep that in mind while hunting/setting up. Do you hunt public or private?

@@RhodeIslandSportfishing sweet. I hunted as a kid a little bit. A deer and some small game. Just got back into it halfway through bow season last year. Public land, no luck. Learned a lot and got my gear as the season progressed. I have rifles for deer and coyote. It looks like i may have access to 110 acres this fall. We will see. I plan on bow hunting public land in Mansfield this year. was considering pub land for coyote but I’ve got a 22lr and wasn’t sure if using stingers 32 gr would be ethical. I’d like to go for fox too. Overpopulated here

Is it better at night? How deep do you like to fish on the reef thanks.

Yes it is much better at night. Second best is very early morning. I launched the boat just before 4am for reference.
I was not able to fish the night before, wish I could have.
      I fish 30-60 ft.
The bottom is very aggressive on the reef, look around on your plotter for aggressive swings in depths.
