Ok, but for real, though, the guy that was helping Ross out was so nice. This is how the new player experience should be for MOBAs.
Meanwhile in league, they immediately start flaming you so chat has to be off by default. LOL

I wanna try the game but it seems so different and much more based on teamplay, it looks like doing a solo kill is super hard and that you die slowly and your opponent too, its really much slower than league
Yeah. Just like League is overloaded in mobility and 10000 dashes, DOTA has overtuned stuns and CC 1000x longer than Morgana on so many heroes.

You activate your armlet to increase your health total, so it can be used to help you survive. Radiance is mainly valuable because it lets you farm better, so it's often a first item. Necrophos reflected your targeted abilities with Lotus Orb. He also used Blade Mail to reflect a portion of damage you dealt to him. When enemy heroes wouldn't die despite taking damage on one health it was because of Dazzles's ability, Shallow Grave. Your earthshaker was level 1 longer than you because he was playing position 4, and his role was to make sure you get most of the exp and gold. Earthshaker was a cool guy, I liked him
Man, dota is so complicated, but i really like how it looks and it seems quite fun. I would love to get into it, but I have league addiction and don't have too much time.

To translate to my LoL friends, Necrophos has a W which is kinda like Gwen W but can only be hit by magical abilities, and he is equipped with a jacked up Thornmail while Dazzle basically gives people Trynd Ult as a basic ability.

Dota is that one type of game that you wish you knew how to play because it looks way more fun than league once you know what you're doing but no one has energy to learn it

I only play Turbo in Dota XD. And idk if Dota is more fun than League, I prefer the flashy plays that League has (Irelia, Katarina) than seeing right clicking carries all the time in Dota because it reminds me so much of my hatred for Tryndamere XD.

No better introduction to DotA than getting chain-CCed by a Shadow Shaman for seven full seconds. BKB looks broken on paper but characters like that make it absolutely necessary

Hey Ross. I've abbadoned league after playing the game for 11 years aswell, and switched to Dota! Its really great seeing you enjoy the game, and trying to learn it. I know it can be frustrating at times, but i can assure you that, if you keep trying, you will find yourself enjoying this game more and more. Great video as always!
I feel the same, league just feels unenjoyable to play currently even tho Ross always makes it look good. No idea how you get over the initial massive hurdle
@FBI if you've learned a moba, you can learn another one. The game isn't impossible like other people may tell you about it. Harder? Yes. Funnier? A lot!

I just quit league a week ago and started playing dota, I'm having fun even though I'm feeding my ass off. League is just unfun at its current state, idk.

Haven't played dota in a while but it's always fun to see a new player experiencing the game for the first time!
Btw Ross, if you're planning to play again (which i doubt lol) you can select guides and builds for the hero you're playing from the shop, made by the community. I think the one that everybody uses are from a guy named "immortalFaith" he has written guides for everyhero and they're pretty good!

Well, he could see pretty early that they are not winning that match, so he acted like mature person and decided to have some fun with it anyway, he is my hero..
That's actually common in Dota as long your behavior score is maxed otherwise you'll experience the dregs of society where you'll get cussed in multiple languages.

my last memory of playing dota was when my brothers taught me to play with them (vs AI hahaha) on warcraft LAN... after that we got introduced to league by a cousin and switched to it, playing on/off (months of break in between nowadays, when there's a major update each season) for a decade now.
though i dont play dota anymore and never touched dota 2, i still watch the competitive scene now and then. even if i barely understand anything, it's still pretty hype!
I've got so many hours in dota. I love the game though, fun to see Ross playing it!
Watching Ross walk back and forth from lane while having 2 TP scrolls in his inventory was just fresh.
technically, that is the correct play. you want them to be ready if the team goes for a fight.

Hey mate, I'm guessing you're a content creator mainly league stuff but I'm glad that you had a fun time. It can be quite daunting to get into this game and it is one of the most punishing game to new players. I hope you keep playing.
I'd like to see more content like this, playing some HotS and Smite!
HotS is so frustrating to me, but goddamn it's so fun
The thing with Dota is that there are quite a lot more unique abilities on heroes compared to league so it takes sometime to learn all the interactions with different spells and items. There is now some proper tutorials in the game if you actually want to learn the game more. Unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be enough fresh new players to get you matched up with them. All those players seemed to know the game quite well already.
good starting heroes if its your first time playing dota:
- Sniper (most obvious choice)
- Zeus (insane magic damage with very low cooldowns)
- Crystal Maiden (if you want to play support, CM is probably the most easiest hero to play)
- Axe (one of the tankier heroes in the game, doesn't need too much items, can properly initiate with just blink dagger & blade mail)

This was great. You definitely approached Dota with the right attitude to have fun, and that's what matters. You suggest picking a character like Lina that can just blow people up without much cs if you fancy it again.
I get that it might not perform great with most of your audience Ross but i really hope you make at least a few more videos on dota. It truly is a blast watching you play.
One of the the reasons why CC can be so long is due to black king bar. Also there are very few champions (Heroes is what they are called in DotA) that have a ton of innate mobility.
Also a lot of dispels like quicksilver in league. And status resistance stacks easier than tenacity. Imagine playing vs AM and storm without proper lockdown HAHAHA NIGHTMARE.

Doto leaves LoL in the dust in the QoL and features areas. The actual getting to play part can be trickier and coop is dead.
Which part of some items being in a neutral part of the map instead of at base counts as QoL?

If you really want to play this game, I can list several features that are missing from LoL but that wouldn't make it look good.
I'm never going to play it because I think the visuals just look so ugly... Even the old league characters look better to me. I have no idea what is happening on screen due to the art style

i had this experience myself about 2 years ago
DOTA is so awkward to play, it made me mechanically better at league, after playing league for 3 years with a locked camera, 1 week of DOTA fixed that.
there are abunch of things DOTA has that i wish league had, main one being their version of practice mode, where you can play a character without buying them, even while in a queue. and active items on boots! i would love it on league if you had an active on mercury treads in league that gave you garen's W style tenacity for 1 second, so you can reactivly reduce CC. or beserker's grieves/lucidity boods having a 2 seconds sprint on them (80s CD reduced by CDR) stuff like that.
Finally. Opponent that could defeat Morgana on CC potential
I got CC'ed for over 10 seconds. great experience. would play again

As someone who put 600+ hours in Dota during highschool and probably around that or more in League. When i go back to dota its still wayy harder to pick up on dw Ross you really are doing way better than I expected for someone who didnt know much about dota
his first game and he gets a support who pulls the wave, stacks ancients, giving you solo XP. also follow up stuns on WK instant stun and uses his wall to secure escapes. very chill and patient w new players. way more than most herald / guardian supps do

I play both but thank God I started playing Dota first. When I started playing LOL years ago I was like this was easy amd even though I'm a beginner at that time, I easily adapted on the game. Can't imagine if I play LOL first before getting to Dota😂😂😂.

in early his passive slowly drained your hp while in late his reaper will give 2 mins+ respawn time, if he got that scepter you cant allowed to buy back. So youre basicaly become a spectator in your team lol

13:33 you can actually get out of the serpent wards and potentially survived, if you use phase boots (the purple boots in his inventry) it allows you to basically no clip through units
