I am still enjoying happy motoring in my Triumph Herald !200 convertible! 1961, totally original, 42,000 miles and never failed and MOT!
Cant see that there will be many 50yr old Toyotas or Nissans still on the road!!

42,000 miles since 1961, say, 80miles per year? Toyota's and Honda's are alive and well as operating companies. And Triumph?

@@paulbroderick8438 More like 750 miles per year, but your point is well taken. I had a 1970 Toyota Corona purchase dnew that I sold in 2005 with 191,000 miles. Except for replacing the timing chain at 100,000 miles, nothing was done to the engine beyond normal maintenance. No rust, either, something that couldn't be said for my 1966 MGB that required complete replacement of the rocker panels and front fenders. It spent one winter in Cleveland and the rest of its life in sunny and dry California. Regardless of washing the undercarriage every time after it went on a salted road in Cleveland, the rot came came through 20 years later. I can't begin to tell you how many parts I had to replace on the B, but I had to replace the starter motor seven times after the Bendix spring collapsed. It was a great car to drive when it ran, and that was the issue with almost all British cars of the era.

The Rolls lines are not "up to date beauty", buth rather very old-fashioned. The new Citroen DS 19, on the other hand, has a timeless beauty, still modern today!

One of the only American cars shown was the fantastic 50 Studebaker.

The Triumph Mayflower to become a hit in the US!!!! A tiny and ugly little car, very unlikely to succeed in any but a supported market. I wonder just how many were sold, well under 1,000 I'd guess. Then the Lanchester Sprite, with it's unusual automatic transmission and only 7 made. How much money did that take from a cash-strapped manufacturer? It's no surprise that before the decade was out Daimler all but shut down for 12 months.
