@@lumasherath I don't disagree but I felt like +2 armor in the late game was a long time to waste 40% completion speed. I'm pretty sure the spice silo building is just bugged. Sometimes it doesn't give the benefit when built and will have to be rebuilt. You should also consider research agreements. Especially with the very high authority production
I'd like the Fremen to play a bit differently to be honest. They feel a bit too similar to the other factions. I'd like to see them actively use the Sietches, like how the other factions use villages. Villages could be used either for pillaging or having trading posts to trade spice for resources. Heck, don't even give them Solari to use, have them do everything by trading spice directly. Also, even if it seems op, I'd love the Fremen units to be constantly cloaked when not in combat, without any operation needed. Imo they should feel more like a group of guerrilla fighters and less like a normal faction that slowly expands and builds itself up. Again though, this game looks good. It truly has a lot of potential.
A big one for me is the worm attacks on Fremen units. It would potentially be OP to make them immune to worm attacks, although the idea shouldn't be off the table, but worm attacks should be less of an issue. Maybe a greater warning time than other factions?
on my current Fremin game, I accidentally attacked the Seich on a border town I controlled during a defense against a Harkonnen raid. I am fully allied with them, but they continue to attack me regularly. I have enough defense that I can ignore their regular aggression without worry, but I noticed that I get 50 Solari every time they die against my wall of death next door. They are still fully allied with me, and I still pay no upkeep for the defense buildings that they keep getting ground up by. This game is pretty satisfying through what jank there is.

aggressive expansion is definitely rewarded. i'm still working to win a game with the smugglers on hard, but i've made a ton of gains by doing really aggressive forward-settles on spice fields. with early ornithopter scouting, good supply-and raiding en route-you can snipe one of another faction's "home" spice fields and really upset the game for them
The game has an enourmous potential, but somehow I think that the mechanics are too similar. For example the ornithopter. It doesn't make sense all have the same ornithopter. Or use plasticite like the others. Also the supply with the fremen. There should be more different units as well.
Honestly freeman and smugglers are easy mode for early game. I’ve seen a lot of people play through and they say they have no interest in smugglers but they’re actually busted af.
Hey potato, I’d very much be interested in seeing you play the game again with its new features. There’s a new faction (house corrino) which allows you to play as the emperor, and there are new airship units, new win conditions, improved enemy AI, and all around quality of life improvements. Dune themed Humankind it looks like. More similar to Humankind than Civ. Both Humankind and this game are clearly "Inspired" by civ. But overall I like this game, not too different and not to similar and in an universe that has been ignored since Dune: Emperor and Dune2k
In case anyone was wondering, the Fremen faction leader is actually a white man in canon. The developers just changed it for id-pol reasons, despite claiming to stick to the books.
Liet Kynes is a black woman in the latest film too. It's not the developers of this game that made that call (short of somehow mind-controlling Denis Villeneuve). As for the lore, Frank Herbert never even stated most of his character's ethnicities. Western audiences just read it and assume everyone (except maybe the Fremen) is white. A lot of people got their idea of what was supposedly canon from the David Lynch movie where everyone (inc. the Fremen) was white. E.g. we have no idea what Duncan Idaho's ethnicity is. The only info is that his hair is "black and curly" and that he has epicanthic folds, which are generally associated with Asian people. In short, it literally makes no difference. But if you can have representation in a story where it makes no difference, why wouldn't you? If I was black and/or female, I'd appreciate being able to play a game or watch a film and see someone, anyone, who looked a little like me.
Kynes is described as having brown eyes and sandy hair. Not as a black woman. Your argument doesn’t fly either considering I read the books XD And of course it makes a difference. We know it was done, and it wasn’t for the good of the IP or the product.
Also, that incredibly said that you need characters to look like you to enjoy them. As a mixed race individual, I can take a great deal of enjoyment from a variety of characters - and not just those I’m descended of.
No one in Dune is a "white" man. Almost everyone is described as Olive skinned. How to out yourself as A: not a Dune fan and B: out yourself as being a id-pol brainlet
I think you might lose again. Just because you neglected the military. You have to look at your rival and try to win but also keeping them from winning. Atreides and Hakonan are your biggest rival because they can get dune governorship and you can't do anything. I would stop worrying about econ and go full military now. This is 4x game not a spice collector simulator.
My dude! FACT CHECK ME ON LIVE STREAM! You helped me a ton in CIV VI.... I think I can help you master the Fremen in this game. (6 units) and 116 TOTAL POWER.... each unit??? FACT CHECK ME BRO!
Dune fan in me is dissapointed in gender bending Liet Kynes. Is the game based on new movie or the book itself? Did their license is extended from Legendary's or did they got it from Herbert's estate? EDIT: Before I get labeled as hate: I don't mind gender bending if it has a story purpose. Like in new Battlestar Galactica. Bending Starbuck created new angle on original, bland bromance comradery. Entire "will they, will they not?" between her and Apollo gave a lot hooks for screenwriters. Same with Boomer, who got entire "famme fatale" vibe which helped with grounding a character that was otherwise an episodic presence in og series. With Liet Kynes it serves no purpose at all. There is no change in dynamic between her and some other characters. No new story hooks to be introduced (and because it's a movie, not a tv series it would be wasted otherwise). I like the climate of new Dune. It is a modernized version and spectacle. Backgrounds and special effects are top notch. Unfortunetly it lacks "climate and feeling" of de Laurentiis version, or accuracy of SyFy miniseries. I would rather have Irulan do exposition, as she done in the book and in the first version of the movie. Feels more in touch with Herbert's vision and really helps long term. She might've been a minor character in the first book, but becomes important in next two (and I think Herbert really set her up this way). I feel like Villeneuve has real problem with setting up story for sequels. He forgets about Irulan and Feyd-Rautha. They should've at least got some cameos. Also Fenring.
For me it was the dev's "rationale" for the intentional diversion from canon that disappointed me the most. "Modern character" "modernizing" Euphemisms galore. Apparently, according to their own words, they feel "gender repartition" dictates a white man shouldn't have modern "messages about the preciousness of resources, building a sustainable planet with local communities". Screw that. I'll spend my money elsewhere. 👎
@@SL-xg4ug Shame. It is a fun game. Bought it yesterday. If devs were so worried about lack of diversity, they should've made smugler leader woman, Liet black and Leto asian. Then only baron would remain "awful" white man.
I absolutely hate this game tech tree. Just a bunch of passive modifiers. Devoid of soul, new mechanics or buildings. Apart from what already exist behind a lock. What a disaster for RTS gaming.

I love the fact RUclips correctly put a translate to English (from millennial) here.
In case anyone was wondering, the Fremen faction leader is actually a white man in canon. The developers just changed it for id-pol reasons, despite claiming to stick to the books.
Very true and lame. Their excuse was garbage.
Your argument doesn’t fly either considering I read the books XD
And of course it makes a difference.
I don't know who that is, but that is not Liet Kynes.
The rng element is too much in this game. I have to quicksave alot.
I won as Fremen by getting the Dune Governership. I could have killed the last house but I waited for the domination victory
Yo am I first!? :D
looks like it :)
Noo
Why did they make Kynes a woman? He is a man.
My dude! FACT CHECK ME ON LIVE STREAM! You helped me a ton in CIV VI.... I think I can help you master the Fremen in this game.
So I pulled up a saved game to look at the UNIT STATS of the Fedakyn I am using with all the boosts:
60 power
10k health
20 armor
Sandkiller bonus: +20% power +2 armor
against all odds bonus: +10% unit power +2 armor
Military base bonus: +20% power

***This is my 6 man Fedakyn attack army that is currently sitting on the Harkonen HQ with continuous supply drops
This is why the Fremen RULE
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: If you spread your Fedakyn units out as far as possible while attacking an enemy HQ, they ALL get the sandkiller bonus... whaaaaa?
