The crazy thing is, if you put the bazaar specail building in a single slot district it will grant you 40% research speed in all three categories because it counts as military, statecraft and economic building at the same time (and applies the district bonus twice).
Yeah i did that :)
Does it stack with other buildings?
@@teambellavsteamalice Sort of: District bonuses apply when you fill out X slots with Y buildings.
So you could pair the Bazaar with another building to get the buff for filling out a 2 district.
But as the comment above stated, the amount of flat instant research it gives you is simply absurd, and DEFINITELY will be patched.
@@NateMcBrady
I get that if you place it in a two or three slot set, it will only count as the color of the set. So separately it counts as all three colors for the tier 1 benefit.
But if you already have one or more colors you'll only get the tier 1 benefit only once, right?
@@teambellavsteamalice no it’ll apply the district bonus twice: You can pair it in a 2 or 3 slot
Hey, Potato, just a quick helping tip(s):
(a) If you press the "i" button it will show helpful UI over your cities, such as the number of buildings and empty slots;
(b) If you press the "x" button it will show the range of airfields (for the civs that use them);
I yelled "YES!" out loud when Potato figured out the Bazaar, I felt empowered with ideas, so many fun choices this 1 building gives!
BTW, there's one blue Fremen tech that gives +50% agent recruit per Sietch buddy, I used this in my most recent play to get agents fast and start the Assassination Mission line... I just couldn't not win before I assassinated Duke Leto (mr Hark spammed the anti-infiltration mission), sadly, and there wasn't any special cut-scene for it either.
What a fun game this has been for half price AND early access!
Please just stop...
one bit of micro i've started doing with attacking neutral villages is sending troops to stand on the village before starting the attack. you avoid triggering the worm and your melee units can immediately tie down their ranged without them getting any free shots off
"There's not really a good guy in Dune"
And that frankly makes Dune one of the most realistic works of fiction.
What I like about what I am seeing with this game is that fighting the other factions is mostly incidental to the goals of the game. Sure you can go after another faction, but painting the map your color isn’t a requirement to win.
Hopefully we will notice the left side alerts this time…
Edit: Nope!
Just to be clear, missions pop up under the portrait on the left border. Some are purely optional, some however give penalties if not addressed ie: vaporizing random units etc
I do notice it but it is simply not obvious enough that there is a bad thing going to happen
Love the Dune content. Noting this is one of two, implys the run went really well or really badly.
hes playing on 3xs speed and skipping more filler stuff he's just playing faster its no an inclination of anything.
If he manages to lose in one episode from this position, something went terribly wrong
Nope
Potato: I'm only playing hard as I'm still learning
Me: still playing Civ on Prince level at most after years of playing
That's the only way to play Civ to have a decent game, AI cheating is just artificial difficulty and I don't enjoy it either
The Bazaar building placed in any single slot will apply 40% (20% doubled) completion speed to EACH Military, Economic and Statecraft developments which I can't tell if that's a bug or by design. Seems OP though.
Using your Arrakis agents to collect Sietch Detection speed bonuses is also huge to get those Alliances (which don't cost agents to use them).
It seems by design, I mean you can use it in the 3 slot for military and get +4 armor on all of your units which I would argue is a better use (Arrakis is for the Fremen: Murder the intruders). And the unique statecraft building is pretty powerful on most of the factions.
@@lumasherath I don't disagree but I felt like +2 armor in the late game was a long time to waste 40% completion speed. I was also Allied with 2 Sietch by the time I built it which was huge for Influence gain. Higher difficulty may make +4 Armor more attractive.
Additionally, I didn't need to build a single research hub and focused on Recruitment Center/Windtraps.
Fremen are op cause of this.
@@mr.voidroy6869 I don't feel they are far and away OP considering they have very limited access to the Landsraad to begin the game. If you get hit with negative resolutions, it can slow you down. All of the factions feel strong with distinct differences in playstyles.
Hey Potato, been noticing a lot in your gameplay and maybe this would help with raids. If you dont click attack on the village and click on the surroundings, it wont trigger militias to come out. So you can position your military first then attack.
My favorite Dune RUclipsr dropping another vid? Let's gooooo
He's not a dune RUclipsr, he does other things...
@@tevarinvagabond1192 Some humor, my friend. I'm just happy Potato's actually branching out from Civ in a meaningful way. It's a nice change of pace from churning out exclusively Civ that I really appreciate
From what I've seen, you're missing out on some crazy powerful plays by not assigning agents to other Houses. The intel they generate is an amazing resource.
Love tha5 you’ve moved into Dune my guy.
Got my first win myself last night. Fremen too. To be fair, I have only played them, but they’re by far the most appealing to me.
Keep up the spicy work.
Audiobook on Audible has all the pronunciations you're looking for. Thanks for making Dune vids!
Noticable ones:
Sietch - See-aych
Fedaykin - Fed-Dye-Kun
Hegemony - you said it correct the first few times then you were going all over the place. 😂
The only one almost all Dune fans hate, yet Frank said is the canon pronunciation is “Chay-knee” instead of “Chah-knee”. I hate “Chay-Knee” too lol.
I'd like the Fremen to play a bit differently to be honest. They feel a bit too similar to the other factions. I'd like to see them actively use the Sietches, like how the other factions use villages. Villages could be used either for pillaging or having trading posts to trade spice for resources. Heck, don't even give them Solari to use, have them do everything by trading spice directly. Also, even if it seems op, I'd love the Fremen units to be constantly cloaked when not in combat, without any operation needed. Imo they should feel more like a group of guerrilla fighters and less like a normal faction that slowly expands and builds itself up.
Again though, this game looks good. It truly has a lot of potential.
also they should be completely cut off from landsrand. they are the dirty natives the government would only like to destroy.
A big one for me is the worm attacks on Fremen units. It would potentially be OP to make them immune to worm attacks, although the idea shouldn't be off the table, but worm attacks should be less of an issue. Maybe a greater warning time than other factions?
I learned the hard way that Fremen camps are not immune to sandworms. An Atredies army was fleeing from a Harkonnen attack in my territory and stopped to have a fight near my camp. Didn't think anything of it until I got a notification that my camp was destroyed. The stupid AI got my spice eaten.
Loving the Dune videos! It's been fun learning the game with you.
14:35 - "Okay, we've got a worm problem, and when you've got a worm problem, you just- you just feed your worm."
*I had intestinal parasites for many years. This is correct treatment information. Follow this RUclipsr's advice, he is a financial consultant.*
Absolutely love this gameplay, keep them coming Potato!
I'm pretty sure the spice silo building is just bugged. Sometimes it doesn't give the benefit when built and will have to be rebuilt.
You should also consider research agreements. Especially with the very high authority production
Potato the Fremen before being united by the Muadib would pillage each other and wage wars as long as they did not steal water, even so there is a group of fremen that did steal water and as a consequence were considered pariahs by the rest of the fremen until Leto II re-unifies all of the Fremen, including the outcasts of Jacararutu, who Paul did not interact with.
on my current Fremin game, I accidentally attacked the Seich on a border town I controlled during a defense against a Harkonnen raid. I am fully allied with them, but they continue to attack me regularly. I have enough defense that I can ignore their regular aggression without worry, but I noticed that I get 50 Solari every time they die against my wall of death next door. They are still fully allied with me, and I still pay no upkeep for the defense buildings that they keep getting ground up by. This game is pretty satisfying through what jank there is.
Yes potato, loving dune and enjoy seeing your perspective
We need new Dune: Spice Wars content!!!! :)
finished a game with all 4 factions .. if you ask me .. the fremen are the most powerful. they naturally have a late game military buff, they have VERY powerful late game units and the worm rides makes your army VERY agile even deep into enemy territory. it was the only game i finished by knocking out the other 3 houses .. and i did so with ease.
something i didn't and don't understand .. the lack of interaction with sietches .. it seems like you can only use them as trade posts with global buffs to you once you reached 100 standing and activated the bonus. i would have expected an option to trigger a raid and to recharge supplies in it's surroundings .. didn't see ANYTHING beyond trade and buff (and a tiny observation field)
Do they come to your defence if that region is attacked?
@@ambrosius nope
Thx for large map play through! Only one I've found so far on YT ugh
A note on pronunciation of "hegemony":
British (hard-g): huh GEH muh nee
American (soft g): huh JEH muh nee
I always used to get this wrong too -- it's a word that's mostly encountered in print rather than spoken.
4:00 yes with one big negative point, taking over regions deletes the sprice harvester every time no matter from or to fremen. which isn't the case for the other 3 houses
This game looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
If only I had a rig that could run anything but RUclips.
Thanks, Potato. You have done a great job showcasing this game. Well done. =D
For any other house i'd say authority and influence being the most needed but for freemen authority alone
Weaned myself from Harkonnen sadism and played the Fremen for the first time today...wow.
I see that your Fremen run is only two episodes long. Makes sense seeing how far ahead you are already
12:14 you said hegemony the same way my brain has been saying it every other time you said it in your other videos!!! ty ty ty it was a really annoying reflex of my stupid brain
I have no idea how I ended up here. Who you are... And this is far from my game type. But I am subbed and going to binge. Enjoying the vids so far.
Even the Fremen harvesters can get eaten if a worm is attracted by units/combat nearby.
Honestly this game seems super fun!
This setup is so strong wow
That Fremen lass is not happy with Potato so it seems.
Big love from Norway Potato. Love the content.
I'll be honest, kept asking my screen why you kept missing local hubs tech when you went such early research and expansion for spice. Would have sped every other tech up. Especially after you got local dialects. Oh well, still massively learning and enjoying, cannot wait for part 2!
Local hubs is a tiny amount of tech 0.2 of a research lab, and it takes 2 techs to research, its a net negative for your tech speed.
Loving all the Dune vids, Potato. Hopefully more coming. :)
potato if you press i it gives a lot more info on the screen like the build slots on the villages. Also gear sabotage says on the ability pop up, not the intel screen, it only impacts the players not the neutral militia and raids
Hello, my friend. 😍💕 Awesome upload. 👍 Have a nice day.🤗✨
Sietch - See etch
Fedaykin - Fe Die Kin
Miss the civ content 🥺
@3:50 I reckon you got experience for the kill, where if the worm ate him you would not. Seems a better outcome to me, unless there is some benefit to wormkills I am unaware of. First sietch trading for authority is plus good. Also, every single ceremonial cave is pretty great. It affects your garrisons as well as your mobile armies. The game seems to deal in decimals everywhere and what better thing to pay money/spice for than unit power? Pronounced See-tch.
Correct the Fremen can't hold any charter except the governorship
I'm disappointed in the lack of Marur Valley Pins Potato
allying sieches gives bonuses, hover the hammer under the button
Watched all the vids! Man is still saying hedge money instead of hegemony tho! [He gem un ee]
There are two ways to pronounce it
Just to let you know, youtube subtitles said '' Botanic whiskey here''
Hey potato, I’d very much be interested in seeing you play the game again with its new features. There’s a new faction (house corrino) which allows you to play as the emperor, and there are new airship units, new win conditions, improved enemy AI, and all around quality of life improvements. Check it out!
18:43 you haven't researched the first military tech
Thanks for the video.
Great start 👍
Honestly freeman and smugglers are easy mode for early game. I’ve seen a lot of people play through and they say they have no interest in smugglers but they’re actually busted af.
English phonetic pronunciation -> See etch , fe die ken... Sorry for correcting but it was really bothering me :D
27:05 - Sabotage dont work on neutral units (Description says it work on other 3 nations) "Only affects (...)"
Desert Culture Grindset time 💸
What does forming alliances with sietches help you with? I allied myself with two of them but they weren`t doing anything, not even sending random raids to enemy factions or something :/
1 kulon caravan is good to have 1 in your troops set up camp whenn your fighting increases combatpower by 20% and mercenary are better with combat stats than standard warrior
I think it's pronounced "heh-GEH-muh-nee", hard G - or at least it was years ago when I took my Oral English exams in school :P
fremen gameplay moment
Potato, when I last listened to the audio book Sietch was pronounced See-etch Not sure if that helps or no
too bad the spice field don't disappear and appear randomly over time, would be nice for forcing conflicts.
Might be hard with the way the game is designed. Building slots are expensive and you'll need a new refinery and silo each time. Maybe spawn a couple more over time and have spice fields start to reduce productivity until a certain level, so aggressive expansion is rewarded.
aggressive expansion is definitely rewarded. i'm still working to win a game with the smugglers on hard, but i've made a ton of gains by doing really aggressive forward-settles on spice fields. with early ornithopter scouting, good supply-and raiding en route-you can snipe one of another faction's "home" spice fields and really upset the game for them
Chani kynes is just like Zendaya in the movie. She doesn't do anything untill the end!
I think this contents really need to read a novel.
Yes Potato
I have to ask. why would the fremen have to care about stockpiling spice for the Imperial bribe?
We are bribing the spacing guild
The game has an enourmous potential, but somehow I think that the mechanics are too similar. For example the ornithopter. It doesn't make sense all have the same ornithopter. Or use plasticite like the others. Also the supply with the fremen. There should be more different units as well.
Hey Potato, You are saying Sietch correctly.
Last night I got Governor of dune Win as the Fremen
which should be impossible
I found Fremen to be the easiest and the first I won the game with, military is so strong
is this one time pay and play or monthly? on steam
Potato flexing that he using hotkey in his RTS micro
Isn't this basically a Dune themed Civilization game?
Dune themed Humankind it looks like. More similar to Humankind than Civ. Both Humankind and this game are clearly "Inspired" by civ. But overall I like this game, not too different and not to similar and in an universe that has been ignored since Dune: Emperor and Dune2k
Yay
"Fe-Di-Kin" ....
"Feh-die-kin".
Not "Feda-kain"
My dude! FACT CHECK ME ON LIVE STREAM! You helped me a ton in CIV VI.... I think I can help you master the Fremen in this game.
So I pulled up a saved game to look at the UNIT STATS of the Fedakyn I am using with all the boosts:
60 power
10k health
20 armor
Sandkiller bonus: +20% power +2 armor
against all odds bonus: +10% unit power +2 armor
Military base bonus: +20% power
gear drop bonus +50 health regen
Hegemony bonus: +10 %power (12k Hegemony)
HQ barracks bonus: +20% health + 20% regen
HQ command post bonus: +20% attack bonus
HQ district bonus (military): +2 attack bonus
I didn't even include the Seitch alliance bonuses!
***This is my 6 man Fedakyn attack army that is currently sitting on the Harkonen HQ with continuous supply drops
This is why the Fremen RULE
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: If you spread your Fedakyn units out as far as possible while attacking an enemy HQ, they ALL get the sandkiller bonus... whaaaaa? (6 units) and 116 TOTAL POWER.... each unit??? FACT CHECK ME BRO!
Yayyy
In case anyone was wondering, the Fremen faction leader is actually a white man in canon. The developers just changed it for id-pol reasons, despite claiming to stick to the books.
Very true and lame. Their excuse was garbage.
Liet Kynes is a black woman in the latest film too. It's not the developers of this game that made that call (short of somehow mind-controlling Denis Villeneuve).
As for the lore, Frank Herbert never even stated most of his character's ethnicities. Western audiences just read it and assume everyone (except maybe the Fremen) is white. A lot of people got their idea of what was supposedly canon from the David Lynch movie where everyone (inc. the Fremen) was white. E.g. we have no idea what Duncan Idaho's ethnicity is. The only info is that his hair is "black and curly" and that he has epicanthic folds, which are generally associated with Asian people.
In short, it literally makes no difference. But if you can have representation in a story where it makes no difference, why wouldn't you? If I was black and/or female, I'd appreciate being able to play a game or watch a film and see someone, anyone, who looked a little like me.
Kynes is described as having brown eyes and sandy hair. Not as a black woman. Your argument doesn’t fly either considering I read the books XD
And of course it makes a difference. We know it was done, and it wasn’t for the good of the IP or the product.
Also, that incredibly said that you need characters to look like you to enjoy them. As a mixed race individual, I can take a great deal of enjoyment from a variety of characters - and not just those I’m descended of.
No one in Dune is a "white" man. Almost everyone is described as Olive skinned. How to out yourself as A: not a Dune fan and B: out yourself as being a id-pol brainlet
Noice
I love the fact RUclips correctly put a translate to English (from millennial) here.
The rng element is too much in this game. I have to quicksave alot.
I don't know who that is, but that is not Liet Kynes.
I think you might lose again. Just because you neglected the military. You have to look at your rival and try to win but also keeping them from winning. Atreides and Hakonan are your biggest rival because they can get dune governorship and you can't do anything. I would stop worrying about econ and go full military now. This is 4x game not a spice collector simulator.
I won as Fremen by getting the Dune Governership. I could have killed the last house but I waited for the domination victory
Why did they make Kynes a woman? He is a man.
Yo am I first!? :D
looks like it :)
Noo
Dune fan in me is dissapointed in gender bending Liet Kynes. Is the game based on new movie or the book itself? Did their license is extended from Legendary's or did they got it from Herbert's estate?
EDIT: Before I get labeled as hate: I don't mind gender bending if it has a story purpose. Like in new Battlestar Galactica. Bending Starbuck created new angle on original, bland bromance comradery. Entire "will they, will they not?" between her and Apollo gave a lot hooks for screenwriters. Same with Boomer, who got entire "famme fatale" vibe which helped with grounding a character that was otherwise an episodic presence in og series. With Liet Kynes it serves no purpose at all. There is no change in dynamic between her and some other characters. No new story hooks to be introduced (and because it's a movie, not a tv series it would be wasted otherwise). I like the climate of new Dune. It is a modernized version and spectacle. Backgrounds and special effects are top notch. Unfortunetly it lacks "climate and feeling" of de Laurentiis version, or accuracy of SyFy miniseries. I would rather have Irulan do exposition, as she done in the book and in the first version of the movie. Feels more in touch with Herbert's vision and really helps long term. She might've been a minor character in the first book, but becomes important in next two (and I think Herbert really set her up this way). I feel like Villeneuve has real problem with setting up story for sequels. He forgets about Irulan and Feyd-Rautha. They should've at least got some cameos. Also Fenring.
I agree, the major female characters in the first Dune book are Jessica, and Chani, along with, arguably, Alia and R.M. Mohiam. They didn't need to change the lore and make Liet female. With how little Chani figured in the opening of the movie I can understand how they felt female representation was low though.
For me it was the dev's "rationale" for the intentional diversion from canon that disappointed me the most. "Modern character" "modernizing" Euphemisms galore. Apparently, according to their own words, they feel "gender repartition" dictates a white man shouldn't have modern "messages about the preciousness of resources, building a sustainable planet with local communities". Screw that. I'll spend my money elsewhere. 👎
@@SL-xg4ug Shame. It is a fun game. Bought it yesterday. If devs were so worried about lack of diversity, they should've made smugler leader woman, Liet black and Leto asian. Then only baron would remain "awful" white man.
I absolutely hate this game tech tree.
Just a bunch of passive modifiers. Devoid of soul, new mechanics or buildings. Apart from what already exist behind a lock.
What a disaster for RTS gaming.
