Well I don't see so many videos from you these days Sam but boy oh boy when you do release one it is worth a watch. Such a chilled vibe and that place really is a sweet shop in autumn landscape photography. Lovely filming and gorgeous images Sam, great watch as always. atb Al
Morning Sam. Lovely video buddy. What an incredible honeypot location. Some beautiful images in there too. I think you are right, when you say that many struggle with forest photography or Woodland photography. I know I do, and often remark those who can pick out scenes in amongst crazy amounts of detail as you have. Well done. We shall try and catch up soon. Take care, regards Ewan, and pass on my regards to Hannah
Sam, a good message and lovely work. Again, I must say I like the treatment of your photographs. They are quiet images, understated and not shouty. The greens and colours look natural. As you say, woodland photography is not easy. But it can be exceedingly rewarding when you get it right. Even a small woodland will offer an infinite number of compositions (you just need to be able to see them), so the chances of getting a photograph that at least has some sort of originality - a composition not seen before - is high.
Lovely video and some beautiful images. I think we can all struggle but I’m taking the approach of enjoying being outdoors. This morning I managed an hour on the Thames Estuary and got a couple of minimalist shots but enjoyed the changing colours which formed as the sun was rising. All very therapeutic
Hi Sam, It's nice to see you out and about and showing us another video. Wow, the colours in the ferns were amazing. Great image's as usual mate. Catch you on the next one.
Excellent video Sam agree going out without an expectation and seeing whats around you can surprise one. Well done I enjoyed the images which were wonderful.
No wonder you felt like a kid in a sweet shop - what wonderful conditions! Really enjoyed the photos you came away with too Sam, they certainly portrayed the beauty of the area. Thanks for a great video
Thanks very much Nick! I hope you're keeping well. Are you over on Skye at the moment? It's been a while since I ventured over that way and must head over again soon!
Ican see why you were prepared to drive the two hours! Stunning location and some great images, really like the images with the mist rolling through the scene. Like the message behind the video as well, to go out without any expectations , something i for one need to do and get out more often than i currently do. Great video Sam, really enjoyed that one !
If you're worried about 'Lazy' photography - the real lazy photography is not even leaving the car! 😆 Have def been guilty of pulling up somewhere & just tossing the drone out the window with taking my seatbelt off phenomenal shots as ever, great episode!
Great to see another one of your videos from paradise. That car park picture at 07:34 stands out to me, another one for me to look out for next year haha!
Great to see you out and about again Sam. You certainly captured the autumn colour and atmosphere of the place beautifully - even if you barely left the car park! I keep trying to go out with no preconceived ideas/expectations and get more enjoyment from the experience, even though I often get no worthwhile images, it's the sense of trying something different that's the fun.
Great to see a new vlog Sam! Autumn this year was a good one, so much colour and fairly gentle weather (until recently) meant the leaves stayed around. You’ve captured some lovely images here. I take it that was the Canon 70-200 you were using?
Thanks Sam! The first big storm hit shortly after this video, and I had to head to Bristol for a while too, so unfortunately by the time I next headed out most of the colour was gone. It was stunning whilst it lasted though! Yep, it's the Canon 70-200 non-IS version. Probably my favourite lens actually, and one of the cheapest! Works perfectly well with the RF adapter too :)
Beautiful location. Its been a l9ng time since i visted scotland. Time constraints and commitments do not permit it. Have to "slum" it in the lake district :)
Thanks for this video that contains many beautiful images to be proud of. I was struck by the consistency of the colour pallette, assuming that there is some post processing in there, do you use a profile over the set or treat each picture individually? Cheers.
Thanks Keith! I treat each image independently, but I don't do a lot to them tbh, and tend to make very similar adjustments. I tend not to touch the colour much. I think in a few of these images I adjusted white balance slightly, but usually only a tiny bit!
Do you actually need that tripod? I'd expect to hold your camera in my hands for those photos, without a tripod. I've used a tripod twice that I can remember in the past few months. Once for timelapsing, and today when I put a Lumix G9 with a Lumix 100-400 lens on so I could photograph Flinders Is (Western Australia). If I read Google Maps correctly, there was about 8 Km of salty air between camera and subject. I thought there was a chain of rocks between, Google says it's an island chain. What ever, the wind and surf were up. Since I've started treatment for AMl Leukaemia, my photography has mostly been constrained to the route from home to FSH and return, and around my favourite cafe which happens to be near the Indian Ocean. Photographing the same stuff day after day has forced me to learn new ways of handling the camera, and new ways of processing them in Photoshop. I reckon I'm a better photographer for it.
It's darker than the video probably shows here John, so yes, I did need a tripod for many of the images. I also don't have IS in the 200mm lens, though the IBIS does help with that. I find myself increasingly not using a tripod these days, but sometimes it helps just to slow down the process, so I do like to use it.
@@BosePhotography Apart from a lot of weakening, and the need to attend hospital too often, it's not affected me much so far. I'm eligible for voluntary assisted dying, if I take that route it's counted as death from AML. By observations are completely _my_ normal, the low side of everyone's normal. I have too much calcium in my blood, abundant iron but it's not being taken up well. The doctors' aim is to control it, not cure it. I am very pleased the treatment and medication are costing me nothing.
@@keithfoster3831 hi Keith, I’ve been having some IT issues that have delayed it a bit, and also just haven’t had the time to work on it! I release videos when they’re ready and don’t feel the need to rush them. I only do this as a hobby after all, so I don’t feel the need to pressure myself into releasing videos to a schedule.
I do respect your decision, I do photography as a hobby also, I have two businesses that are my living so I have very little time to do the landscape photography I love . Enjoy your photography Sam. Live long and prosper, not in money, but memories of your days out with the camera .
@@keithfoster3831 thank you very much Keith! I also don’t find I have as much time to do photography as I’d like with my work, despite living where I do, but then I also enjoy my job as well, and it just makes me value the time I spend with the camera even more!
Beautiful footage and gorgeous natural images Sam 😀
Thanks for the video Sam. Really showcased the beauty of Glen Affic, with some wonderful imagery👏
Thank you very much, it's definitely a special place!

Thank you very much Lee! Yes, it takes a bit of discipline sometimes, but it's definitely more freeing just to go out without any pre-conceptions!
Wonderful colours Sam really enjoyable video …👍 I found woodland photography a challenge…🤔
Thank you! And don't worry, we all find it a challenge! It's part of the fun though, I guess! :)
Thanks for your reply.. merry Christmas 🎄

Haha! Thanks David! I've not done a lot of 'from the car' work yet, but must give it a try! Preferably with a mug of coffee in the hand as well :)
Beautiful nature, video and photos 👍🙂
Thanks Stig! :)
@BosePhotography 🙂👍
Must make the effort to visit that area next time I’m up 😊👍🏻
You must! We need to get Jamie there as well :)

Lovely video Sam and beautiful images mate! You've got a great portfolio from Glen Affric!
Thanks Ellis! It's getting there, but there's definitely room for a few more images to add to the portfolio! :)
A great video Sam.
Some stunning shots.
Well done.
Thank you Wendy!

Did one better, I set up a bird feeder outside my bathroom window. Took the screen out and most important I stay war.
