Great start to the year. I love that you are usually in locations we can all relate to... The Coast is so much easier to get to than the Cairngorms for those of us in the SE UK with families
Happy new year to you Ian, as well as to all the other people here. Thank you for this particular video. I did like you recommended, I went out, tried something and had fun. Instead of staying home, and regret it afterwards. Kind regards Andreas
Happy new year , Realy interesting this time , the struggle to get a composition is so typical of my experiances especialy the seascapes, this time of the year the light is so variable and the cold is so invasive, dark blue fingers. It realy is the time that gives us the difference between a snap and a PICTURE thanks again , by the way havnt seen the dog for a while ?
I`m so glad that you have text so that me who don`t understand English so well can look in dictionary when there are words that I don`t understand. Thank You.
Super vdo, as usual! Happy New Year.. I've been following your channel for a year or so, and I just love all your vdos. I like your humility, the super images... Keep going Ian, trust 2025 will b another super year for you
Happy New Year and thanks for sharing your days shooting.,I love B&W as pics look more artistic...beach photos always interesting to me as I live on the coast... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
Hi Ian, a fantastic video, buddy! Ahh, the light situation was awesome in your shot at ~04:05. I like the reflecting golden light in the foreground. So storytelling 😉 Thank you for this video and nice greetings from the South, Christian
Happy New Year Ian, I'm back again with another "Pocket" Camera recommendation for your new kit, the Fujifilm X-Pro2. It feels like this ticks a lot of the boxes you mentioned or implied. - Interchangeable Lenses - Fuji X mount so you can use your existing lenses. - It will fit in your pocket with a small (35mm) lens. - Used, it is about 1/2 the price of the X-Pro3, although an X-Pro1 (16mp and more used), s/b about 1/2 the price of the X-Pro2 - 26mp should be plenty of pixels. You will still need to get bigger pockets to carry other lenses, maybe a photographer's vest? I have one that I have used with my X-T3, although for convenience I prefer my Tenba Solstice Sling Bag 7L. It can fit my X-t5 with the tamron 18-300 mounted, and still fit the 100-400mm fuji, or the X-t3 with the 10-24 mounted. You said that you gave the tamron 18-300 a try but didn't keep it. I put it on the X-T5 out of the box and have never taken it off. It is like having a big bridge camera. For me, it works, but I can see where it might not be great for your needs. Looking forward to following your 2025 plan. Hope you share your new vehicle search along with your travels. Al
Happy New Year Ian, wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year, lookinh forward to your ventures in 2025 !! Trying to come up with motivation and a direction for my own photo journey in 2025 as well, maybe a few photo workshops in exciting locations to inspire 🎉
Those rock shots at 10' were great, but also the others are far from missed shots. A happy new year to you and the community aswell, please keep pressing the shutter button.
That first composition, with the sunset, I personally like better in colour. In colour it is rich, in B&W it seems flat. The shot with the rock in the water and the waves crashing, I think it would work better if you crop out the horizon and all other distractions? Leaving just the rock and water around it? What do you think? I very much like the shots of the birds! I love the shot with 3 rocks in the water at 10 minutes in.
Thanks for the feedback, I was 50-50 on the colour v black and white, still can't decide which I prefer. Yes, I did play around with the crop on the 3 rocks shot, but I felt it looked better giving them a sense of place. That being said, I wasn't that keen on the shot overall. 👍
Ian, Happy New Year. Have you ever thought of using a Good MonoPod when shooting near the Shore line, easier to get out of incoming waves then a Heavy Tripod. Eric
Happy new year! Sometimes I will extend one leg of the tripod which acts like a monopod, although when I'm trying to capture flows of water or waves in the foreground I find its easier to shoot handheld as I can be more reactive 👍
Thank you. I love the reminder that you have got to get out of bed when you don't really want to, if you want to get something worth getting out of bed for. Happy New Year...and Cheers!
Yes, it is a fair bit warmer. I wouldn't wear it on long hikes though as it's not as breathable as the rab down jacket. It's great for everyday use though, as the Greenland wax offers a waterproof coating as well, I really like it. it's the skogso jacket by fjallraven. 👍
Oh no you haven't tasted a real Oggie until you have been to Cornwall. Here in Devon we make a mean Oggie too. In the mining days you would have had savory in one end and sweet in the other apparently. You have to be in it to win it.

The two-rock seascape at 10:03 is very nice. According to my thinking - the picture of the day.
Thanks so much 👍
