    Hi Markus, Quite a haul of audio equipment you've got there. I just got a DJI Action 4. Their wireless mic system would be a great addition. I do agree with you that most audio is from people very near the camera microphones. Syncing up audio in post seems to be a tricky additional step. Not everyone or every system leads to easy syncing, hence the wireless system. I believe the DJI also offers a backup directly to the transmitter (which you demoed). That means if you somehow goof up the recording (as in having the mic come unconnected or inadvertently turning off the recording, which you also demoed), you still have a backup. Thanks

    • @VladOnEarth
      @VladOnEarth Год назад +2

      If you have a mic unconnected accidentally, you are going to have a backup of your pocket noise lol, whats the use of such backup.

    Totally agree about the locking clips. I own the Dr10ls and the dji mic system. When I record wedding ceremonies, I use the Dr10ls but for youtube content, I love the DJI mic system. It is a huge time saver. I don't want to have to sync my various takes if I don't have to. You can lock recording for the dji from the receiver. I also have other use cases for the DJI mic system as a recorder. I love both the tascam dr10ls and DJI mic.

    "Hey Markus! Your videos have been a lifesaver for someone like me. I started watching you videos about sound recording and I was hocked. I plan to do a trip to Simon Bolivar Peak with friends, and want to get really good audio for my story. Like you said, audio is more important than video for stories. Personally, I would use the transmitters without the extra lav mic, record from the transmitter itself and sync in post. I do not mind it showing. I have been thinking of buying a 1-2 tascams with lav mic, but the price is high for me. Winning this would be very helpful. Thanks for being such an inspiration in the world of sound recording!

    I feel like this is a kind of unfair review for the budget filmmakers out there. I've use the first Rode Wireless Go system and the Go II's for hundreds of gigs now. Everything from weddings to corporate video and for $250, you get a receiver, 2 transmitters and they record internally. They've never failed me and Rode has further improved on them with their Wireless Go Pros with 32-bit internal recording, timecode and a lock connector. I think the only fair part of this review was the locking connector but there's it's wildly unfair to toss aside the Rode Go II's because of user error. The value of the Go II's is huge, especially at that cost.
    A huge part that you didn't mention was the ability to actually monitor your audio too. What good is sticking a recorder in your pocket but you can't tell if your audio is rustling cause of your clothes or the feed your getting is clean because the recorder isn't able to transmit a signal??

    Zaxcom is right there with the Lectrosonics in quality, so not surprised you use that one. I would! Also, I put on headphones to listen to your headset mic. There's a combination between quality and positioning. Yours sounded great. Others, with excellent headset mics, position theirs poorly and they'd have been better off with a lav. Great camera work, great audio... and generous Markus.

    Last weekend I shot a wedding in a church. I used the Rode Go II with the Rode Go Lav mic attached. Clipped the mic to the groom's lapel, put the transmitter in his inside jacket pocket. The receiver was attached to a camera at the back of the sanctuary. (Not a small sanctuary.) Before the ceremony, the groom was in a classroom elsewhere in the building. A good distance and at least 2 concrete walls separated the transmitter from the receiver, yet surprisingly I still had a good signal. It worked flawlessly and no -- the mic jack never popped out. My experience is if you're using a mic with a lock ring on the jack, then it will always pop out of any non-lock ring device it's plugged into. Maybe try using a mic designed without a lock ring.

    I think you would need a mic without that connector piece because that extra metal keeps the 1/8" jack from properly seating into the socket. It does slide right out. But if you use a mic without it (which are less expensive mics) then it should lock in there more securely.
    So it just didn't work well for that specific mic.

    For me, the Rode microphones sound really terrible. Unfortunately, using a wireless system for my videos is very convenient because I don't stay still in front of the camera and there are already too many cables in the studio. Recording with a separate system is not convenient because it is much more practical for me to have a single video file with all the scenes in sequence and the audio already in sync.
