SNCF 141 R Steam Locomotives

  • The SNCF 141 R is a class of 2-8-2 steam locomotives of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (French State Railways). They were used all over the French rail network from 1945 to 1974.
    I believe this film was shot in Nevers France sometime in the late 1950s. Transferred from 50 feet of regular 8mm film.

    It is all with liberation mikados! nearly all the action is in Saincaize near Nevers in the centre of France at an important junction between the PLM Paris Clermont Ferrand line and the Paris Orléans line from Vierzon and Bourges to the left. It lasted mainly steam hauled right into the late 1960s. 241 P were also plying that line with Paris to Clermont rapides.
