I took my wife, who introduced me to John Prine 42 years ago when we met, to this New Year's Show in Nashville. What a rainstorm before the concert! But the show was incredible, just over the top with Jason Isbel and Kacey Musgraves. Simply amazing. Best New Year's Eve event ever.
I was down the street at the Ryman, having won tickets to the Opry and HOF from a local radio station. I tried to talk my wife into going to the Opry the night before, and going to that show, but we found that they were already sold out.
Was so fortunate to be there this one, maybe the best single concert I have ever seen. Saw this year's as well and it was equally astounding ... but Kacey and Jason were just a tad better for the two warmups. Goodspeed John Prine, RIP.
What is everybody reacting to this? They are just words. And strumming. And notes. Nothing more. Why are you trying to act like this is emotional? Like this just reaches in an rips out your soul and makes you look inside and think. Or something like that. Asking for a friend.
