How in the world can a government fine a company for not reaching a hypothetical sales target. The government has not invested in infrastructure it’s signed us upto unrealistic green targets and levies. We have the most expensive electric in Europe. How can a government that produces nothing impose production levels to a free market. Without encouraging buyers with subsidies or investing in the infrastructure to run these vehicles. It’s ludicrous
When we all go electric what will happen to the revenue /taxes generated on petrol etc come from? EV taxes? The danger of electric cars catching fire could be a problem!
The EV market is already doomed. Ford and GM of America, VW of Europe and Chinese Production are ALL suffering the same problem----customers aren't buying. They are far too expensive, have to much electronic control over the "driving experience", Have HUGE depreciation costs and HUGE insurance costs add to that a very poor infrastructure. It all stems from unreasonable time frames, government withdrawal of subsidy for motorists and nothing done to the infrastructure. Plus we all know, they will not be road tax free. Over the last ten years government has upgraded the motorways to have more control and that means tax by mile for all cars. They are also a huge fire risk and weigh a ton (the reason why multi store car parks are banning them) Add to that the fines car manufacturers will face if they don't commit to total EV. After the horrendous losses, running into billions, it will be cheaper , for car producers, to shut down altogether! Plus the stupid net zero politicians, have forgotten, is the fact of the total load on the electrical grid! We are ALL suppose to run out and by cars costing £50/60,000 and also change our boilers to Heat pumps (approx £5000) that dont work. Where is all this electricity and money going to come from? The car industry in Britain will disappear altogether. I wouldn't like to say when but somewhere between now and 2040. Cars will still be around, they just won't be made here.
The government should have built out supercharger stations like Tesla did before they started selling their cars! If a private start to company can do it so can the government. Even at the beginning the EV idea never added up. The cost savings always came from a lack of tax which would change due the governments need for the billions they get from motorists.

The majority of car buyers don't want one, and tend to buy used cars, and a used EV isn't great financial sense. Especially once those EV batteries are out of warranty. I can see all these EVs pilling up in scrap yards after a relatively short live span, being the next environmental disaster.
When there regular blackouts across the country plus cyber attacks on the infrastructure, let's what all those EV zealot's will do? And another thing regarding the topic of the Land Rover's and Range Rover at the back Downing Street, they are ALL petrol/ diesel models being used.

He'll be jailing us soon for not purchasing an EV..!!!😮
Id love to leave this country but im too old now.
The car industry in Britain will disappear altogether. I wouldn't like to say when but somewhere between now and 2040. Cars will still be around, they just won't be made here.
HOW CAN WE CUT BACK ON ELECTRICITY USE ?🤔 I KNOW , MAKE LOADS OF ELECTRIC CARS !! 🤯😵💫
The government should have built out supercharger stations like Tesla did before they started selling their cars! If a private start to company can do it so can the government. Then they should let the market decide what they want to drive and let the transition go at it's own speed. This instant changeover is not working.
But we DO NOT want EV's!, any EV!, no matter where it is built!
Thank you Joun Rentoul for attempting repeatedly to explain that Rachel Reeves said something different to what she said actually.
I won't knowingly buy Chinese.
I won't buy an EV as theyre unaffordable and what fool would buy a used one with an unknown battery life?
I'll keep my car running, untill they find a way to outlaw them, and they will.
Even at the beginning the EV idea never added up. The cost savings always came from a lack of tax which would change due the governments need for the billions they get from motorists.
Come on you guys, get with the programme. Devastating the car industry is the whole idea.
My son in-law works for a water company, they recently changed their fleet of cars to EV's the workers absolutely detest them. I don't want my daughter let alone my son in-law in the car I think they are dangerous 💧=🔥.
Emotional anecdotal nonsense.

Well aren't you full of it

Its the Lithium that's volatile with water.
The majority of motorists will steer clear of ev's
EVs, just check the depreciation!!
will and is devastating the car industry
why would you if you need to go on a long journey urgent no charging points over priced second hand value after 3 years worthless , which university student came up with this old idea , 1900s there was electric cars and trams they got rid due to a waste of time
I think you’ll find it was because the lead acid batteries were expensive and heavy. The range wasn’t very good.
Electricity is not cheaper than petrol, tax is 5% on electricity and 80% on petrol .
They shouldn't be taxing/fining viable means of transport in favour of EV's that not many want. Give EV's tax cut's buy all means - but don't hamper the providers of current solutions
Vote Reform 🇬🇧
There’s nothing more dangerous than a zealot with access to other people’s money.
This is like someone inventing a product that the gov thinks everyone must have...such as a great new take on incontinence pants.
And then the gov say if you don't sell enough, we are going to fine you out of business. Twats.
Not everyone needs incontinence pants, and no-one NEEDS an EV.
The majority of car buyers don't want one, and tend to buy used cars, and a used EV isn't great financial sense. Especially once those EV batteries are out of warranty. I can see all these EVs pilling up in scrap yards after a relatively short live span, being the next environmental disaster.
Electricity has been cheeper than petrol because the government has made it that way by tax hell out of petrol and diesel
Cop 29 we pay poor farmers in third world So we must tax our farmers for the money
How do we stop this vandalism? Will we have to go the whole hog?
When there regular blackouts across the country plus cyber attacks on the infrastructure, let's what all those EV zealot's will do?
And another thing regarding the topic of the Land Rover's and Range Rover at the back Downing Street, they are ALL petrol/ diesel models being used.
Public refuse stop pay per mile become law with this policy
He is making millions on this fiasco and he is not worried who gets hurt😊😊
Neighbour's EV dropped 50% in value after 12 months. He needs his diesel estate to cope with long-distance journeys.
Net Zero is a mythological fallacy for loons.
Speaking of loons ,have you had a good look at Milliband, oooooo scary
