Within the automotive sector it won't just devastate manufacturing, it will devastate the independent garage industry, the aftermarket industry and probably much more.
Hi Brown Uncle Can you please explain why certain cars are only purchased by brown people and some cars are exclusively kinda reserved for the white peoples For example AC Alfa Aerial Alpine Bristol Chevrolet Corvette De Tomaso De Panters Dodge GMA Koenigsegg Lancia Lister Marcos Morgan Noble Pagani Pontiac Shelby TVR ULtima And also very importantly Volvo Brown uncle please please can you explain why the peoples, the Asians, and blacks do not purchase the above cars from the above manufacturers Never seems the brown mens in these cars But heave seen the lots of brown peoples in Rolls, Bentley, Porsche, Aston, Ferrari, Lamborghinis, McLaren, Range Rover , Merkedes, and BmW, especially these days.
Exactly, no one voted for any of this, and anyone who thinks giving more money in taxes to the government is going to do anything to fix the climate is insane.
I never understood this part of the legislation. It wasn't about the banning of a particular fuel source vehicle, but stated car manufacturers would be fined if they didn't sell an increasing ratio of non-ICE vehicles. I'd guess the rational was if a manufacturer was going to lose a load of money on a car they would make them cheaper so they sold more and encourage a quicker or smoother transition, but legacy manufacturers are not able to build that scale while still producing ICE, so it was always going to be an issue for them, and hand more market over to the Chinese manufacturers.
Agreed, but based on the survey BCG did, only around 8% of the people viewing his channel are interested in buying a new car anyway, probably because of the fact that a lot of his viewers are anti-ULEZ and hence will be running old cars into the ground, so why does it worry you enough to comment?
Based on the survey done recently on this channel nobody here is in the market for any new car so we should definitely take this comments section with a pinch of salt, it’s a very biased section of the public, perhaps people should broaden their horizons.
@ Never mind £100 a gallon, the current £6.50 a gallon already convinced me. I missed my exit on the A120 yesterday, 16 miles to get back to the right junction 8 miles up to the next junction and 8 miles back, £3 in my old car vs 28p in my new one.
The demand for EVs is not there is because most people DON'TWANT THEM. They will never match the efficiency and conveniency of ICE vehicles. Range and second hand battery anxiety is paramount.
@@Aubury That's an additional 15% loss whilst converting electricity to motion. Electricity needs to be generated from fuel, be it direct or renewables which have high energy and emissions cost up front. Not to mention an EV needs 40K-70K miles to become emission net zero. Then shortly after, a new battery restarting the cycle in mining, processing and delivery.
@Aubury Bit pessimistic on the ICE side but you have left out significant factors as EV exponents always do.. There are huge losses (power drops) betweenfrom the windmills stuck out in the North sea and the charging points. Then batteries are far less efficient when cold. And EVs are much heavier thus lowering efficiency. Part of the losses of ICE engines are heat which nicely heat the car without draining batteries and stressing out the owners.
I don’t understand who decides on the time line for the percentage of vehicles that have to be ev by a certain time . I still don’t understand why they can impose financial penalties to manufacturers at the level they have decided . Can we not have common sense and set the targets at a more realistic timeline . Why has it been decided that 2030 or 2035 we have to meet net zero. Surely we as a country need to protect our own interests and not penalise the uk to be come less competitive. I would vote to scrap unobtainable targets and let things change on a gradual basis as and when it happens through time which could’ve a long way beyond 2035.
I can't understand any of this nonsense, I and millions of us can't afford any car, especially EVs. I live in a flat like millions of others . There are also millions who live in houses with no drive. This is a method of getting us all off the road, especially us who can't afford any car other than a little ford fiesta.
I totally agree. They seek to force a majority of British people off of the roads, and have been progressively attempting to do so for many years. In fact, they seek to make the majority of people feel cold and miserable. When the woke middle class luvvies finally congratulate themselves on a zero emissions Britain, that will be at the expense of not actually having an economy, let alone any kind of manufacturing, with countless millions who simply can't afford to consume.
@Markart50 Maybe, but it's a big but, the government relies heavily on the revenues from cars, VAT, fuel tax, vehicle tax jobs, etc. Not easily discarded! I believe that economics will eventually sort this out.
If you can't afford any car then being forced to buy an EV isn't really a concern for you. If people are looking for a cheap to run and at least in the used market a cheap to buy car then they shouldn't just dismiss an option because of what powers it.
@@st200ol The point being, there will no longer be any affordable , reliable, and easy to maintain petrol engine cars that will actually get you from one end of the country to the other.
I'm an early EV adopter in the UK I love EV's. They should be part of our future transport solutions. I am however, against all drivers being compelled to buy overpriced, overweight, overcomplicated battery only EV's. The UK charging infrastructure is woefully inadequate for mass EV adoption. We are about 20 years too early for this ZEV initiative. Thank God someone has accepted these ridiculous deadlines are unachievable. It just proves the huge disconnect between Government policies, the clueless politicians and the motor vehicle industry. They really need to fully understand the huge constraints of car and infrastructure manufacturers, their capacity and capability to deliver and importantly the real world practical needs and desires of the UK driving public. Invoking fines and threatening manufacturers is not a good place to develop trust and industry growth. Stopping buyer incentives to go low or zero emission is foolhardy. No wonder this debacle has failed so dramatically.
I'm sure you will eventually change your mind, zero tail pipe emissions, 😂 yep that's right but all they have done is shift the emissions to the power stations,. Rare earth minerals mined in the Kongo by children, battery will degrade to a point where a battery replacement will outstrip the value of the vehicle so it'll be scrapped, after a shunt it'll very likely to be written off. Yep great for the environment. EVs will die just like Beta max.
Couldn’t agree more, I’m just about to take delivery of my first EV as it’s now the right time for me to do so but if I didn’t have a driveway I doubt if I would have chosen a BEV and probably gone for a self charging hybrid. If they want people to switch then they need to put the infrastructure in place to support it.
Over complicated? Really? What’s complicated about the 40 moving parts of an electric drivetrain? An ICE engine has 1000 to 2000 moving parts, that’s over complicated. And your overweight accusation is ridiculous? Go and check the weight of a Tesla M3 compared to a typical SUV?
@Yorkshireasaurus Hi, I just did my wifes Mazda CX5 Takumi 2ltr auto 1549 k, Tesla model 3 long range rwd 1747k. My wifes Mazda is a mild hybrid auto and it at least has a dash, a hud, Nappa leather seats and a rear wiper. Just saying oh and it costs less.
No doubt but let's remember that this was a previous government implementation. Sunak signed this just after his speech to the stupids that he was delaying 2030 to 2035 and on the side of poor people (who were never in the market for a brand new EV!)
We are keeping our 2003 Rover 75 Classic with it's 1.8 petrol engine. My wife and I don't want to own an electric car, they are interesting but they are not the answer to the worlds problems. Since the Chinese own all the cards, lithium mines in Africa, battery production and the production of car components. All this Government seem to do is consultation, after consultation.
Interesting watching this from Australia. It’s obvious that governments around the world have decided that EVs are the only way to go and the reality is they simply are not Consumers are becoming frustrated with to much government interference which is not what a democratic society is about
Finally someone in this EV madness talking sense, I promise you if I can not choose what I want to buy then I will not buy a EV. Imagine the taxes I will save not owning a car
Why buy an E V .that has poor mileage per charge .. Very expensive to purchase..and very poor charger systems infrastructure or not in service? ?????. Sorry, I'll stay with petrol ⛽️ ⛽️ and diesel .....
As a child my parents would regularly remind me that “what I want and what I get” are two very different things. Without effort and sacrifice we don’t get what we want; what we get by default is lacklustre and substandard. Sadly this sums up the Governments approach to EVs and the real world impact this is having.
Shame they didn’t have a consultation 5 years ago and save them all this damage to the motor market. Ordinary people simply can’t afford £50k for a car that doesn’t work the whole day. If the government had offered incentives for hybrid cars where you use electric in town and diesel out of town everybody would win. Politicians don’t like it when they don’t win and I believe WEF has convinced them they can just ignore the public and win all the time.
Vauxhall warned about it months ago and add in the NI rise which will cost them. We don’t like EVs, they’re expensive city cars, no good for those who drive regularly. My neighbour had one, got rid as he hated it and got range anxiety. We see the explosions, the tyre cost, the massive depreciation, they are a chuck away car as once the battery needs replacing it’s too expensive, they are far from eco, child labour, not enough minerals in the world anyway, not recyclable, thermal runaway, charging points closing down or being too expensive, the list goes on. They’re a rich persons runaround.
Too late, the car retail industry is on it's backside. Dealers are making huge losses & closing all over the country. It would take 2 years minimum to get the cars people want produced. VW said themselves that they have two years left, Nissan less than a year to survive. The government would have to bail the dealers out because of their crass policies.
Dont like evs, heres why, 1. taking too long to charge, even if it takes 30 minutes to charge a full battery that can last 250 miles, I still have to wait 30 minutes a time at some station in all weathers, a crime infested area. 2. Its a money making scheme, they will add mad taxes to the charging stations & push up the prices if you have one at home ( more kilowatts use the bigger the price from your energy company ) 3. Surveillance, sure more security to prevent crime, make it harder for criminals, but, there goes our personal liberty, it will be some sort of Orwell car brand, [ A ] Need to blow in an inbuild breathalyzer, [ B ] Not paying road tax, or insurance on time failing any of these will lock up the car, so no able to drive until the following is resolved. speeding over the limit by 5mph, how hard you break, where you go, all that data will be sent to the insurance company, hence influenceing your cost of insurance. Mind you, a war breaks out, and here comes the cyber attacks, & emps. No thanks, I will stick to my 97 toyota celica & 1978 reliant scimitar, and Im 30 years of age, I will be the only one in 40 years driving gas operated vehicle.
I might consider an EV.When they are able to charge to full capacity in 5 minutes, not 80%,a range of 500 miles, with all heaters, lights AC,audio ect with out reducing range.Charging stations as convenient as current gas stations, tyre wear equivalent to ICE cars, guarantee never to go into thermal runaway. Are able to tow heavy vans up and down hills without reducing range to much, reduction is expected of course, but similar to current ICE cars.Cheaper insurance than ICE vehicles,Resale values to be as good as current ICE cars,so i can get a good trade in for a new EV. Prices have to be on par with similar ICE cars.THATS WHEN I MIGHT CONSIDER AN EV.
People are seeing what they bought -the " Frozen Tesla " incident in Chicago finished off the sales of EVs in 2024 here. Then fires burning down owners homes, the few people trapped in their cars burned to death since the door locks failed, the massive number of tire replacements required, the extra high insurance costs, the lack of charging stations in useful locations , the wait time to charge, the upfront cost, the child slave labor to mine the cobalt, expensive battery pack to replace, the resale value being so poor, the excessive amount of material to build them, their weight in an accident, fact the copper crooks keep stealing the charging cables making the station useless, repair cost being way higher than they tell you. the fact the grid just cant handle the load (in CA owners were told to not charge their cars due to load sheading) cost of installing home charger and its slow speed, range issues and battery performance in lower temperatures. I know I missed a few but thats just off the top of my head - truth is there is a portion of the population even with all this will still buy one for status or because they think its the thing to do but I think they already bought them so sale will slow - Cold weather climates experienced low range / dead charging infrastructure last winter - Some regions ask EV owners to not charge during heatwaves because of brown-outs - Electricity costs doubling or quadrupling in many regions - Lithium mine indentured labor and surface mining ecological disasters ("clean" hypocrisy) - Tires wear out twice as fast as on ICE cars ("clean" hypocrisy) - Most EV owners inflicting their tailpipe emissions onto rural areas/people ("clean" hypocrisy) - Huge EV batteries not recyclable at end-of-life ("clean" hypocrisy) - Insurance rates surging for Teslas - Increasing electric bus fires - Increasing house fires in the US from EV battery fires - Repair costs skyrocketing on out of warranty EV's - Plummeting resale values for EV's - Manufacturers lying over the range
EV's are packed full With problems on every level from constant electrical gremlins and faults to outdated tech that has no support now let alone the future. Most people simply don't want the worry of an EV in their life.
Two car fires on the BBC travel report causing delays, anyone driving past any of them? I wonder if either was an EV? One was a van so could be an EV but more likely to be a diesel based on percentages of diesel vs electric vans.
I was reading an article by Consumer Reports in the USA and in 2023 it was reported battery only EV's had 79% more faults than a comparable ICE vehicle. It was even worse for hybrids which had a 146% more faults.
why on earth would anyone in the UK buy an electric car when the cost of electricity in the UK is 4 times as much as in the USA . And the uk is broke and in recession/depression .only the very rich can afford such cars and that is our starting point here .
Maybe because the cost to charge an EV is typically 7p per kWh. I'm NOT on an EV tariff and my whole house average is 9.7p No idea where you're pulling your electricity cost from?
The governmental pressure to push EVs has damaged car sales in general. There are obvious merits and vices of each group of vehicles. As a retired petrol head I feel a degree of guilt in running a fossil fuel vehicle but my annual mileage is low.
Can't force people to buy what they don't want.. Impact on industries... aftermarket, repairs at post guarantee stages... Put aside the fact the depreciation and initial cost are ridiculous.. Factor in the fact that the charging infrastructure is stupid...queues, inability to maintain already failing charging stations... The implications for jobs. Now the manufacturers are vocal about the ramifications Need i say more?
Car makers and government should recognise that most car drivers have a very simple option. Don't buy a new car, just hang on to the car they have for a bit longer. EVs are too expensive, and as we're constantly been told they're going to get cheaper and cheaper, the sensible option is to wait because the EV you can buy in 3 years will (allegedly) be better and cheaper than what you can buy today. Which also means the depreciation of today's EVs will be epic. The SMMT said that EV sales were held up by 'unprecedented and unsustainable discounting'. A cash-strapped government should also review the 'unprecedented and unsustainable' tax-breaks being given to company EV drivers.
Whether or not you agree to the need to transfer to EVs the current targets are just not feasible, both in terms of providing enough raw materials, construction and providing the infrastructure to power EVs. So much tax payers money has been wasted on trying to push EVs on the public that just doesn't want them. Let the free market decide.
They are not good cars and never will be, unless they can produce their own electricity. The internal combustion engine is one of the best ever inventions and will always win out.
Most of us can't afford an EV. Having worked on EV utility vehicles for the last twenty five years, I have seen battery's being constantly upgraded. This will happen with cars. When the battery's are shot , the car will be shot.
If you want a EV buy one but don’t force one on us. My 19 plate van £30k now is £44k and you wonder why the cost of living has gone up. With the £15k fines getting put on and assisted items. Keep the old vehicles and they are not online and aware like SkyNet
We, the consumer, don't want these EV, simple fact. They are not good enough, and the charging infrastructure isn't good enough either. And let's talk for a minute about the security risks EV pose... Increase weight (dangerous to other car drivers), added pressure on infrastructure (fastened road deterioration, increased risks on bridged, fire risks etc etc...)... And these are not eco-friendly. Enough of the lies and the hypocrisy! I am not saying they have no use, but we the people will dictate what we want to buy... And we don't want to buy very expensive cars that will cause all sorts of issues, as well as not saving the planet one bit.
If you are disabled , you dont want to be out in the pouring rain plugging in your EV to charge it, its about time they started putting roofs on EV charging stations like petrol stations have and dropped kurbs so access to the chargers is a lot easier for wheelchair users, the cables are extreemly heavy and it is hard for some to cope with lifting them. some chargting stations have access to help at the charging area but you have to phone ahead and hope there are attendants there when you get there, if not No charging can be done, so its a wasted journey and these attended charging stations are very few and far between. Ill stick to my 2019 diesel thank you, it takes but a few minutes to put fuel in it and its easy to get help to do that because everyone knows how to use a petrol/diesel pump and it doesnt take an hour to fill the car for a 200 mile journey.
The car industry were absolutely barmy to accept these conditions in the first place. Unlike Europe our government is not investing in EV infrastructure so Joe public ain't buying. It's the government's fault.
EVs will lead to an inevitable reduction in the number of people owning and driving cars, due to price and the inability to charge them at home. Not to mention increased insurance costs.
ZEV's are in principal a good thing. The fact of the matter is that it takes a lot of 'emmission' to create them in the first place and there are several factors inhibiting uptake. 1. The Batteries. 2. Poor designs. 3. Price 4. Electrical Grid capacity is not available to support it, nor is the charging infrastructure at this this time. And lastly, none of the styling is actually attractive.
The consultation will work like this; Starmer "Hey Milliband, should we revise the ZEV mandate?", Milliband, "No, what a silly idea, no need for that crazy backwards thinking". Consultation closed.
😂😂😂 You could be right. However, according to the SMMT automotive-related manufacturing contributes £93 billion turnover and £22 billion value added to the UK economy, and typically invest around £4 billion each year in R&D. More than 198,000 people employed in manufacturing and some 813,000 in total across the wider automotive industry. In the words of Danny Devito in Twins: 'Money Talks, and Bullshit Walks'.
This is like the twilight zone, car manufacturers can’t aren’t allowed to sell a product people want so that people buy something they don’t want, if EV’s are so good why aren’t they selling themselves. I can see the second hand petrol and diesel market going through the roof if manufacturers are restricted with how many they sell, I’m hanging onto mine.
Thank you for explaining this situation. It doesn't sound very positive as it is at present. There is a lack of intellect amongst the puppets who spout out impossible targets. If more of them had brain cells and were articulate like Brown Car Guy we might actually get somewhere. Sometimes I am speechless regarding the stupidity of certain folk. 👍
If you have petrol diesel cars that you make a profit on and make more money on servicing and then you change to electric that you don't make any money on servicing and due to its a new technology cost you more to make snd you don't make a profit if you sell them at a comparable price to the petrol car. Manufacturers aren't going to make the cars or sell them at stupid prices. Legacy car manufacturers are going to do what ever they can to slow down the transition. The UK car market if doomed as the point of origin of parts pushing costs up due to the current brexit rules and export tariffs that will come in soon. Lumping the words EV sales makes headlines but if you listen to what was really announced EVs where not the cause of the decision.
Don't forget to throw in Brexit and the problem of logistics around just in time delivery. The car workers voted for their own demise despite being warned that Brexit world kill the car industry (and everything else) and has done just that.
Has anyone seen that push me/pull me Citroen Ev on the road which had a top speed of 28mph ? How many people are destined to get crushed in one when a wagon runs straight over it ?
If a product is good it will sell itself, when the new small Mercedes Smart car was introduced it was so sought after uk drivers still bought the continental LHD model .
i have a cheap EV and a cheap ICE., i love them both. Why did they decide to jack up the road tax on electric van to a ridiculous amount? They should be significantly less than a diesel. They do fewer miles and pollute less especially when charged at night or from solar when available.
When those mandates were made my first thought was that will not happen. I totally agree, it should be up to people's preference. Furthermore I am not convinced that EVs will significantly help CO2 and climate change.
damage to the motor industry affect the economy so they have to backtrack, additionally, the infrastructure isn't there to support EVs. fossil fuels are needed for electric charging and starver can't do enough to please his WEF/DAVOS/blackrock masters. so EVs are a huge con IMO. most importantly, consumers don't want EVs ffs! Cheers BCG.
Anyone in power who didn’t foresee these problems shouldn’t have been in a responsible position ! Who did they think would buy them and how did they think that the mass of people who are already in debt to their limit could afford such overpriced vehicles ?
I watched a YT video by PetrolPed a little while ago about EV take up and he said industry people have told him 10 out of every 11 EVs bought recently were company or fleet sales so the general public are still not convinced. (- Too expensive and/or no drive to charge it overnight)?
also a large portion of the country can't fit chargers at home for overnight charging. I believe somewhere around 40%. Unlike the US, garages or dedicated drive-ways aren't standard here.
Sensible idea for Labour to reform the Tory mandates as the targets are being missed. The reality is that the targets are being missed, but not by much.
If a product was that good you wouldn’t need to rig the market if they concentrated on small little town runaround’s at comparable price to ICE vehicles like Fiesta’s and Corsa’s the take up would be much higher and our towns much cleaner instead of massive SUV’s and flash sports cars that don’t have the range needed for long distance travel that people can’t afford. Hybrids are just a bastardised version of both they’re not efficient on either fuels and complicated and expensive to maintain, batteries in their present form are not the solution for mainstream transportation but a way to prevent car ownership for the masses.
The issue with the charging and the cost of the batteries as well as the infrastructure is not the “other” issue. It is the “whole” issue. We are not yet ready for EVs in any way shape or form.
It’s ok forcing through all this ZEV nonsense but what is being missed is those that would actually like to modernise qualifications to work on ZEV’s and in a non dealership setting that can’t seem to get training. I’ve applied to 2 colleges which are the nearest to me offering the courses and they’ve have both said there isn’t enough uptake on courses and sand aren’t running them for the foreseeable, so effectively I can’t get training even if I wanted it as there is very little interest. They want £700 a course (was 3 offered initially when I applied) and no grants or loans I can get to help fund it either. No wonder there’s no uptake!
That's astonishing. Have you tried contacting tide.theimi.org.uk/ for advice and guidance? Mention me if you do, I've worked with them at the British Motor Show in the past.
Stellantis was considering closing their Luton factory for years. Luton Town council want to build student accommodation and housing for the 'University' on the 120 year old factory site for quite a few years. Stellantis has already moved the Vauxhall collection upto Elesmere Port and are in the process of knocking down the admin block and former design centre, doing the same thing that SIAC did with the former Austin factory in Longbridge, making lots of money selling the land off for retail and more Chinese items. Am I cynical or what.
Also why things are tough is because they have taxed people to death. Labour has done this because they did not expect the car companies heartening to leave the UK. Like I said before, if all the companies got together the politicians would have to ban down or lots of unemployment would happen.
You talk total common sense. I like EVs , I own one, but. All the incentives for the average motorists were removed, plus my insurance has doubled over the last two years. The carrot was taken away and the stick was applied to force manufacturers to make electric cars. Electric cars aren't a cheap option. I think the manufacturers got it wrong too, they went the Tesla route, introducing expensive cars first. It worked for Tesla as they were the game changer but legacy manufacturers should have produced cheaper, simpler car for the masses. Nissan did this with the Leaf but seemed to have lost their way.
Missing the point again manufactures have made amazing progress in converting to electric cars. The real problem is that the 2% of the world market trying to impose this change must FIRST build adequate infrastructure. Until every street level parking space is equipped with robust chargers, nobody without home charging can switch to electric vehicles. Forget China, forget the manufactures, concentrate on deploying a robust charging solution for every motorist. Once that is done the obstacles to purchase go away.
Can they sell ordinary cars with no engines, then ? The engines can be fitted by smaller body shops who need the jobs? Just design cars with cassette power plants and sell the cars without any engines. The customer can fit his own choice of engines later.
We have two EVs and have 150,000 miles under our belt . They are perfect for our business and cost little to run and maintain. Infrastructure ? Non existent ! So not an option for anyone unless they travel to and from home each day . All EVs to be Road Taxed from April 25 so means that the concept of sharing in the benefits of green economy would be equally shared …. Clearly another lie !
We don't have the infrastructure. Here in Portsmouth the public charging points have been shut down for the second time in the last six months due to safety concerns. The other point I'd like to make is that there are far too many manufacturers like in Britain in the seventies all competing in a limited market.
We need common sense from government... i am very much a "petrol head" BUT that does not mean i`m totally against EV`s and for myself an EV could be doable? i don`t do a huge daily mileage and have off road parking where i could charge a vehicle, so far though most EV`s are simply far too expensive and large with zero desirability to myself, and while few cars are a "good investment" EV`s have so far been shown to depreciate at an alarming rate.. let the customers decide what THEY WANT and stop incentives which cloud the true figures
Exactly, they’ll have no profits from selling cars themselves but they can sell their carbon offset nonsense to other manufacturers like Tesla will do. Copy nothing? They copy Tesla.
If your e v is parked charging next to your house, catches fire & burns the houes down which insurence pays out? House insurance or car insurance, or do they argue about it for years?
Only a fool would, choose to sit in a car that surrounds them with Electro magnetic frequencies that are huge, off the scale. And pay to do so. Madness.
My skoda roomster 2007 1.9tdi with 212,000 miles is still going very well so I'm keeping it even though Mr khan is taking £12.50 each week when I brush Surrey/greater London area.
The Tesla Model Y has been the most popular car on earth for a few years now. The demand IS there, the "legacy" car industry is building frankly poor offerings and can't compete and are now complaining the reason is the consumer market when it ultimately boils down to their ability to innovate.
Hey B.C.G Its the 2nd hand value of EVs that puts most people off. Every time ive bought a van, iv'e got one eye on what it will be worth in 3 years time? Petrol/diesel cars/vans for the most part are holding there value. In fact i know people who are planning on hoarding a petrol car because they believe its value will sky rocket in the coming decade. Good place to park you money (pun intended) The downside of that of course is the storage factor, ie where do u keep it? Any thoughts on the hoarding/storage plan? subject for an up coming vid maybe? Good vid as ever Gary
Yup - mentioned the numbers of people wanting to keep their petrol cars in this content I think browncarguy.com/2024/10/17/2035-ice-ban-over-half-of-brits-to-keep-driving-petrol/
Car makers complaining about not reaching 22%, the buyers still have the choice to buy 78% of new cars as ICE cars.. If you leave it to the market most will still buy ICE. People complain about range, most people don´t drive more than 40 miles a day. Even when in 2035 all ICE new cars are banned there will still be millions of ICE cars to be repaired and serviced. It will take at least 20 years to remove all polluting ICE cars from UK roads. The current deadlines should remain.
So what you're saying is they should go against demand and make what only people don't want, wow, what a way to go out of business. Yes people don't drive more than 40 miles a day but when they do and people do! They don't want the hassle of these crap looking cars with an expensive duracell, that's how fickle the human mind is. As long as there are petrol garages I'll be driving my crap cheap ICE vehicle with a smug look on my face 😂
Shafiq you called this a long time ago, many of the general public who happen to be potential vehicle buyers got it too. Seems governments are playing catch up.
This is good news, I like EVs, but I don't think mandating demand that doesn't exist is the right approach. On a personal level, I need a diesel truck or van due to large distances I drive a few times a year. For 80% of my uses I am OK with an EV, but I also need the diesel.
Big problem is whatever comes out of this consultation, manufacturers have already set their future plans for building, they have stuck their head in the sand, and in order to catch up are overpricing EV out of "man on street" pocket.
Within the automotive sector it won't just devastate manufacturing, it will devastate the independent garage industry, the aftermarket industry and probably much more.
That was their plan all along.
They won't back down from E.v agenda. No chance.
Hi Brown Uncle
Can you please explain why certain cars are only purchased by brown people and some cars are exclusively kinda reserved for the white peoples
For example
AC
Alfa
Aerial
Alpine
Bristol
Chevrolet
Corvette
De Tomaso De Panters
Dodge
GMA
Koenigsegg
Lancia
Lister
Marcos
Morgan
Noble
Pagani
Pontiac
Shelby
TVR
ULtima
And also very importantly Volvo
Brown uncle please please can you explain why the peoples, the Asians, and blacks do not purchase the above cars from the above manufacturers
Never seems the brown mens in these cars
But heave seen the lots of brown peoples in Rolls, Bentley, Porsche, Aston, Ferrari, Lamborghinis, McLaren, Range Rover , Merkedes, and BmW, especially these days.
Its could also keep older vehicles on the road more and increase garages for repairs as companies and people stop buying new
@@Richie-vu4we Until EV take up is driven by deliberately removing older vehicles from the road through various means.
The after market industry and car servicing centres have been ripping us off for decades. Let’s hope they all go under. 🤞
Market forces should dictate what people buy, not bribe subsidies, taxes or tyrannical bullying
Exactly, no one voted for any of this, and anyone who thinks giving more money in taxes to the government is going to do anything to fix the climate is insane.

If fuel was £100 a gallon….would you buy an EV then ?….you will be coerced ..believe me…
@ Never mind £100 a gallon, the current £6.50 a gallon already convinced me. I missed my exit on the A120 yesterday, 16 miles to get back to the right junction 8 miles up to the next junction and 8 miles back, £3 in my old car vs 28p in my new one.
I will never own an EV.Even it was free.I would sell it.
Wouldn't get much for it though
I would do the same.
I couldn’t sell an EV, my conscience would be heavy if I conned an innocent person into buying a death trap.
The demand for EVs is not there is because most people DON'TWANT THEM. They will never match the efficiency and conveniency of ICE vehicles. Range and second hand battery anxiety is paramount.
That's the fact. The market decides
ICE efficiency varies from 20% to 45%, depending on engine types, to the fuel used and age. An EV is typically 85%

Absolutely. There will be no British economy.
Let's hope for that @Beorn.
- What are the costs of battery replacement? A major factor in purchasing an EV.
Criminals in government
No doubt but let's remember that this was a previous government implementation. Sunak signed this just after his speech to the stupids that he was delaying 2030 to 2035 and on the side of poor people (who were never in the market for a brand new EV!)
@djtaylorutube Sunak or Starmer...both have their profile pages, on the WEF website.

There’s also the fact that they are far too expensive for lots of people.
They cant force people to buy what they DON'T want.
How many companies are going to close before the realty sters in.
People should champion the Internal Combustion Engine, private motor transport, and scrapping all carbon taxes.
I like the open minded approach to ev's, but they are of no use to me. If i had one it would be classed as single use plastic.
Dont like evs, heres why,
1. taking too long to charge, even if it takes 30 minutes to charge a full battery that can last 250 miles, I still have to wait 30 minutes a time at some station in all weathers, a crime infested area.
2. Its a money making scheme, they will add mad taxes to the charging stations & push up the prices if you have one at home ( more kilowatts use the bigger the price from your energy company )
3. Surveillance, sure more security to prevent crime, make it harder for criminals, but, there goes our personal liberty, it will be some sort of Orwell car brand,

I know I missed a few but thats just off the top of my head - truth is there is a portion of the population even with all this will still buy one for status or because they think its the thing to do but I think they already bought them so sale will slow

EV's are packed full
With problems on every level from constant electrical gremlins and faults to outdated tech that has no support now let alone the future.
Wrong. The report said Plugin Hybrids were worse than ICE but Hybrids were the most reliable.
@ that's not how I read it.
why on earth would anyone in the UK buy an electric car when the cost of electricity in the UK is 4 times as much as in the USA . And the uk is broke and in recession/depression .only the very rich can afford such cars and that is our starting point here .
Maybe because the cost to charge an EV is typically 7p per kWh. I'm NOT on an EV tariff and my whole house average is 9.7p
No idea where you're pulling your electricity cost from?
Show me how many politicians drive one?
The ZEV mandate is counterproductive, it actually hurts EV sales...any dealer will tell you that !
Charging prices are completely ridiculous, 85p per kilowatt, Which will take you 3 miles if you're lucky....
Now the manufacturers are vocal about the ramifications
Need i say more?
EVS are just to expensive for the common people and repairs are stupidly expensive and we still don’t like the range
It was a complete waste of time anyway.
It was always a terrible idea to interfere with car design in the way taht was done. More likely they will push electric by heavy tax on ice cars now.
The progress, with EVs is, Exponential. Unfortunately, so is the price.
EVs will lead to an inevitable reduction in the number of people owning and driving cars, due to price and the inability to charge them at home. Not to mention increased insurance costs.
If I want a BBQ, I might consider an EV. But as vehicluar transport, no thanks.

Hybrids are just a bastardised version of both they’re not efficient on either fuels and complicated and expensive to maintain, batteries in their present form are not the solution for mainstream transportation but a way to prevent car ownership for the masses.
I overheard one MG dealer saying that electric vehicle sales would only reach 35% by 2030!
EV ARE DEAD, WE DO NOT WANT THEM AND WILL NOT BE FORCED TO BUY THEM, PERIOD.😊😊😊
All I say is I choose what I spend my money on. Not the government. It's my cash. Or is it being they want access to our bank accounts.
They didn't see the fallout coming?
They need to have speak with your fellow youtuber Geoff buys cars.
I'm pretty sure he mentioned it once or twice.
We don't have the infrastructure. Here in Portsmouth the public charging points have been shut down for the second time in the last six months due to safety concerns. The other point I'd like to make is that there are far too many manufacturers like in Britain in the seventies all competing in a limited market.
The automobile industry needs clarity.
So Jaguar future profits will be selling credits to car companies.
WHat profits? Have you seen their new image and the ad?...
They are making handbags and f@g pants now.
Exactly, they’ll have no profits from selling cars themselves but they can sell their carbon offset nonsense to other manufacturers like Tesla will do. Copy nothing? They copy Tesla.
Make hybrids count towards EV %.
Madness.
Glad that I've kept my ice civic....just hope I can eventually drive it (post stroke recovering for a year)
My skoda roomster 2007 1.9tdi with 212,000 miles is still going very well so I'm keeping it even though Mr khan is taking £12.50 each week when I brush Surrey/greater London area.
The Tesla Model Y has been the most popular car on earth for a few years now.
The demand IS there, the "legacy" car industry is building frankly poor offerings and can't compete and are now complaining the reason is the consumer market when it ultimately boils down to their ability to innovate.
EVs maybe clever and complex machines; but many motorists really like simple and less complex cars that can be fixed by the local independent garage.
Hey B.C.G
Its the 2nd hand value of EVs that puts most people off.
Every time ive bought a van, iv'e got one eye on what it will be worth in 3 years time?
Petrol/diesel cars/vans for the most part are holding there value.
In fact i know people who are planning on hoarding a petrol car because they believe its value will sky rocket in the coming decade.
Good place to park you money (pun intended)
The downside of that of course is the storage factor, ie where do u keep it?
Any thoughts on the hoarding/storage plan? subject for an up coming vid maybe?
Good vid as ever

Thank you, yes I did. By the way - it's Shahzad - LOL!
