great show matt, collard doves everywhere down my neck of the woods and like you say great eating, more soon please no one promotes our sport of airgun shooting like you mate thanks craig.
Thanks Gareth. The info on permissions seems to have gone down very well - I hope it proves useful to people. What a fluffed shot! It's always worse when the camera is rolling... All the best. Mat
I love watching that pest bird hunting over there. Great shooting and permission training. Here in North Carolina my pesting is starlings at nesting season on commercial farms. The birds build nests in the engine bays of large equipment and gear box areas of grain elevators and such. The farmers here would love more help here from responsible airgunners at there operations as you stated. Thanks for the great movies you all make.
Another great video!!! Thanks for the tip on how you attach a scope cam to your scope. I copied how you done it but found the rubber flip up scope cover had a tendency to sag a bit under the weight of handy cam so I got a bit of rigid plastic pipe from screwfix and glued a step up lense adapter to it and screwed it onto the handy cam. It's much more secure when attached to the scope with no sagging. A massive thank you for all your videos, advice and tips as they have helped me tremendously. Keep up your excellent work!! Darren
Nice clear talk on getting shooting permission Matt and i love the ATN Shot Trak but i wish they would bring out a mk2 version with a bigger lens for shooting in low light or with a lamp and maybe a second setting on the switch to film on a higher magnification, but i have heard from some of my viewers that they are having trouble finding any UK stockists.
Great video matt, and some usefull information on getting a permission, even to us that already have them. Some good shooting around the farm and honest review of the shot trak.
Great video as usual and excellent shooting. I have been thinking of the ShotTrak for a while but I only wish that the lens was more around 8X rather than 5X as it really doesn't show a lot of detail beyond 25 yards.
excellent video thanks Matt. I have the same handyman and was just wondering what step-up rings you used as I like the way your setup works. many thanks Ben
Ps I was the chap that had a chat to you at rifleman firearms the other day. On another note how did you get on with the filming. Did you get it all done?
Good show Mat, looked a bit blustery but farm permissions are a good way to stay out of the rain. btw do you remember who made or where you bought your gloves, they look neoprene and you seem to have had them for years, my cheap fishing ones fell apart after one season /simon
Thanks Simon. The gloves were from Deben - years ago - and are a lightweight neoprene. They have given excellent service but I'm not sure how much longer they're going to hold out... All the best. Mat
Great video nice info on the permissions and your camera set up but your voice overs aren't sounding right on my mobile it sounds like you're underwater this has happened on a few other of your videos
Brilliant introduction. Matt, I think you'll agree at 9:40 you missed because the power was down at 6lbs "wink, wink". Makes me want to go back out with the air rifle after watching this, got the smell of cow feed. atvb & hh. John
All in all nice vid, but I wouldn't personally have shot at the two birds in trees, due to the breezey moving branches. Each to their own and I guess chest shots at least afford a bigger target. Am still learning on my own Permissions.
Another great video Matt, In all my 30 years of shooting all types of guns from air rifles to centre fires I have never tried collared doves. I've heard they are very good eating and must try them some day! Are they like woodys, are they a dark meat like the pigeon? I'm guessing they may be a little more tender? can you cook them the same way? would love to know any good recipes you may have or just methods of cooking so I can get back to basics with my trusty Air Arms S410. Thanks again for another great vid, all the best, Trev Collins.
Thanks Trev. The breast meat from collared doves is very similar to that of woodpigeon, usually a little less bitter - probably because of all the grain they eat. Treat it the same, except you need a few more in your recipe as they're a bit smaller. All the best. Mat
Thanks for your reply Matt! Looks like I'm going out with the air rifle then, they sound like very good eating as well as some good sport, thanks again for another good video and I'll look forward to your next one!!!
Hi James. It is fixed magnification - apologies for not making that clear. To give you an idea of what you'll see, the review features two clips with a knockdown target. The further one is at 30m and the nearer one is at 15m. All the best. Mat
wouldn't it be a good idea to take you rifle to show the farmer what type of gun you're using round the yard I'd love to shoot a farmyard I've spayed a few on the way to the club I go to so I'll be visiting them soon
That's a good point, Matthew. I've sometimes returned to give farmers a demonstration of the gun and what it can do after being asked to during the initial visit, so I suppose there is no harm in having it in the boot. The key thing is not to roll up at their door with a gun bag over your shoulder... All the best. Mat
I've just acquired 750 acres of air rifle permission on 2 farms simply by mole catching there. I was paid for my services and used it to build up a good relationship with the farmers but if you are really struggling to find somewhere to shoot then by offering to do some cheap or free mole catching might be a foot in the door. By offering something first you might get something in return later.
Hi Aaron. Good point. It didn't affect the point of impact with a PCP but the additional weight could cause a shift in point of impact with a spring gun, so worth checking if you're using one. All the best. Mat
Matt, you seem to have a penchant for Air Arms PCPs. I have a BSA Ultra for basic garden pest control and it doesn't seem to suffer from pellet fussiness like my (ex) HW100. I was thinking about adding an S410 to my airgun harem. Do Air Arms PCPs prefer a certain brand of pellet or are they pretty pellet neutral like BSA barrels? Thanks!
Hi Olly. I've got a few Air Arms guns, and they all seem to like Air Arms Diabolo Field pellets. I also have a BSA Ultra SE, which is a lovely little gun. All the best. Mat
mat i notice you are in the habit of carrying your rifle around, loaded and cocked. Safety or not, one day you will have an AD. i also use an AA510 FAC, and i never ever reload unless i am about to fire a shot. i also never use their damn trigger safety, becos i consider it unsafe. if i dont fire the shot, and i need to move, i select lo pwr and empty the rifle into the ground. you might think this is over the top, but i obviously dont agree. the habit of imediately reloading after each shot will one day, spoil your day. Good shooting and some nice shots mate. neil. NZ
Thanks for being such a good example of sportsmanship and always showing respect to the land owners. Great shooting .
Thanks very much, Mike.

Great video Mat. Appreciate he talk on gaining permissions. Props to you for showing your miss.
Just goes to show you are human!
Awesome show, with a really good farmyard session:) That rook got lucky! Wind seemed pretty challenging too
Thanks Greg. The wind was a bit sneaky...

Nice to see a genuine fluffed shot mat, great vid and some nice shooting. Also very helpful info regarding getting permissions, well done 👍
Thanks Gareth. The info on permissions seems to have gone down very well - I hope it proves useful to people.

Good to hear from you - and to get an insight into the shooting you do in North Carolina.

Another enjoyable video Mat, thanks again for these shows.
It was good to have getting 'permission(s) explained.
Thanks Reg. I think the key point with chasing permissions is to expect knock-backs and keep trying until you land one.
All the best. Mat
awesome show mat, especially liked the how to get a farm permission, very informative.
Thanks Glen. I was concerned that I was rambling on too much at the start, so it's good to hear that so many people found it useful.
Cheers. Mat
Hi Mat, awesome work once again :). I like the way the videos are presented, down to earth & just really good shooting. Keep up the good work.
Thanks very much, Lance. We plan to keep them coming.

Great video as usual Matt. Keep up the good work. 👍🏼

Will try to get an update on the stockist situation. Yes, a bigger lens and increased mag option would certainly be handy.
Cheers. Mat
Really enjoying the videos thanks.. Can you please list the components needed to create the scope and camera attachment?
Where you purchased them from as well.. tah = )
Great video matt, and some usefull information on getting a permission, even to us that already have them. Some good shooting around the farm and honest review of the shot trak.

Yes, that is a fair point. A little more magnification would be useful.

Great video Mat, keep up the good work, looking forward to your next vid👍
Thank you Barry. We're already making plans for the next one.

excellent video thanks Matt. I have the same handyman and was just wondering what step-up rings you used as I like the way your setup works. many thanks Ben
Another great video. Will use some of your tips for trying to get my own permissions 👍👍
Thanks Jason. I hope they prove effective.
Cheers. Mat
Ps I was the chap that had a chat to you at rifleman firearms the other day. On another note how did you get on with the filming. Did you get it all done?
Hi Jason.
Filming went very well, thanks. We got it all done and it's looking good.
Hopefully catch up again soon.
Cheers. Mat
more farmyard pest control please really enjoying them mat
Thanks Bill. We'll try to line up another farmyard session.

say Mat did you say the ATN shot camera was power adjustable or is the power fixed ?.... zoom in or out

Hi Darren. We'll do our best to get a rabbiting session lined up.

don't you need to re zero your scope becouse of the weight of the camera
Hi Aaron.
