No the deal is canceled because of a single vendor situation. India probably has one of the, if not the worst procurement process which is headed by civilian bureaucrats who know nothing but strategy. Soldiers, sailors and airmen are well trained but the organizations are getting fast obsolete. This process is getting a bit faster thanks to sheer incompetence from our own PSUs

Ak 203 - Sig 716 G2 - IWI Negev is a good combination of personal weapons for our (Indian) army. I know India can't make good rifles even thought India makes anti ballistic missiles - nuclear subs etc...... but if these weapons are made in India then I'm okay with these (with license production).

DRDO though much maligned has produced good basic weapon designs but they are let down by atrocious production quality of the state ordnance factories (OFB) . Then we lose out on good perspective planning, management and leadership both on the civil and military side. There are plenty of private players in India be it L&T, SS Defence, Tata Defence etc who can design and produce a range of word class small arms IF given the proper chance and confidence that defence forces will order their products rather than simply opting for government OFB or importing them. Even OFB if given proper financial independence and autonomy can do much better than what they are doing now. But the Government and forces must support them. China at one time was considered the worst quality producers of arms, yet their arms were supported by the Chinese leadership no matter what. One can see today where they are. No country can consider itself strategically independent if it relies of imported or licensed produced defence products.

The sight is called "mepro mor" from meprolight company ,it is usually used by the IDF SF's with limited supply within the regular battalions ,It's a very relible sight ,I had one in my unit but j still personally prefer the good ol' eotech sight..
