With all due respect to the M249 SAW, I think the Negev would make an AWESOME replacement in American Services. Perhaps the Rangers or the SEAL's should try it out, they could use a lighter LMG than the MK 46 and MK 48.
When I was in the Mexican Army tested the HK 21 I thought the platform would be more complex but I liked, how to change the barrel; but when I tested IWI Negev I say: Oh sweet lord!.. thanks!.. I tested, thanks to a friend of the federal police and wow!.. It´s lighter, less rough than the m60 and m249; and the recoil is gentler, when use any optic example: aimpoint or eotech, really you don´t close your eyes so abruptly, in my humble opinion I consider it an intelligent tool... long life to IWI and the brothers of Israel!

Carried a M249 a lot in '06 and '08 and ran into a contractor with a Negev who let me fondle it for awhile and I fell hard. The Corps adoption of the IAR should have been put towards trialing the newer Negev models and if these are not in SOC armories, what a travesty.

@R. Guardia I watched it again. It slaps the brass agaisnt the brass deflector so hard when ejecting, it dents the hell out of the brass. Not good if you're into reloading. With that said, I'm sure anyone who uses this isn't concerned with reloading spent brass.

My Dad has one of the first lines of the Baby Eagle in 45 ACP and it has IMI on the grips and rolled stamped on the guns frame., 'It says Israel Military Industry'. Patjersey3000 well, to each his own, but you don’t think the inability to properly zero due to one mode of fire, the obviously inferior barrel locking mechanism, the gas regulator that requires partial disassembly, and usually a mallet to adjust, the non-fixed optics mount, or the extra 10+ pounds of unnecessary weight wouldn’t at least tempt you to ditch the 240 for something that clearly took the lessons learn from antiquated belt fed designs and fixed the problems? As for me, I’m about fed up with fighting with stuck hot barrels, spray and pray aiming, and lugging around that boat anchor.

We used the FN Mini 5.56 in Afghanistan but the British Army have got rid of these weapons at section level now and have gone a different way because of lessons learnt in Afghanistan they were finding that a lot of the time they were being engaged at longer ranges than the effective range of the weapon. So they started adding the Sharps Rifle L129A1, and kept the GPMG. The reason behind it was to keep accurate and long range fire so they started doing sharpshooter courses I believe (not the same as sniper courses.) so the L129A1 has become the replacement for the LSW role in the British Army infantry section.

Hi. Just one thing. As a Negev LMG operator, we Do No Run bayonets on it. The barrel attachments are for a very old IR laser marker (bottom) and an old ELBIT Falcon reflex sight (On top) which was never used because the barrel heat would kill it. The rear adaptor was for the old Litton Aquila night sight, but that was a heavy piece of shit...
10:50 actually they are doing entries with that, the standard idf fireteam has a lead marksman being number1 and a lead negevist being number 2. on breaches the lead marksman usually swaps with a breacher but the guy with the negev stays num2
I noticed one thing was not touched on in the video and it regards that mounting point just behind the bipod for the forward grip. To this day I wonder if that forward grip--which I've seen normally angled towards the left--can be mounted such that it can be angled towards the right for left eye dominant shooters.
I like the fact that you can switch to semi auto and actually kick doors and clear rooms with this. This is a huge plus for special ops guys or counter terrorism units.

I know damn well that ar 15s with a bump fire stock shoots 800 rpm, the rpm of the gun the shooter was using was 600. That has to be a belt fed machine gun, there's no way that's an ar 1, it might be an ak, but considering the recoil of it with a bump fire stock I'm not sure.

If swapped to slower rate to accommodate a magazine, is there any issue if you return back to belt-fed other than, maybe, a slower rate of fire? On an open bolt gun I believe the first lighter stage of the trigger should be single or semi auto capable. But then a fully depressed trigger squeeze would enable full auto fire. Does anyone know of a gun that has something like this? I would think it would have some definite advantages

Very innovative LMG which features belt-fed, pouch or magazine-fed bullets. I suppose it's one of a kind LMG in the world.

Bump fire stock recoil can vary by quite a bit, it all depends on the shooter.

The fire rate varied throughout the shooting, machine guns for the most part don't change ROF. I'm still pretty sure it was a bump fire stock.
