Leaning the bike on your leg is a great tip. Seem similar to how one lifts a bike onto a stand. When your bike is dug in and you're really tired, just rock it side to side until it falls over.
"I'm gonna lift straight up with my legs. Oh, no I'm not." Had me laughing. It's weird that a little mud can be so strong. Thanks for the tips, keep up the good work.
Good stuff!!...use the legs!!...wish someone told me this when I started riding....could have saved so much energy and probably progressed faster...thanks for the content. 👍
From the moves on this video it appears, you are seriously strong! I'm 5'7" 130lbs and I too have had to come up with clever alernative ways to get myself out of trouble because I'm somewhat "short". One of my favorites is I keep a climbing sling thats abou a 2ft long, and when in trouble I girth hitch it to my wheel so I can pull the bike from a lower spot. A grab loop on the rear seat is too tall for me to use in most situations.
I'm 5'2 and this helps so much because I have a ttr230 that I didn't know how to lift since I couldn't lift it like my last bike that is about 50 - 100lbs less
TRUST Me I'll be needing those tips this summer.! hee hee I'm Happy to announce I just bought a new small displacement Dual-Sport. I've owned a 2009 Konker KSM 200, 2011 Suzuki DR 200, 2016 CRF 250L, 2016 WR 250r, 2015 Yamaha XT 250 now I bought myself a new 2018 Kawasaki KLX 250s. Yes, I am slowing trying ALL the newer small Dual-Sports.
5'6 gang reporting in. The only way I can lift my enduro is with the walk backwards technique. Although I didn't know about pivoting the bike off my right leg! So I'll defo give that a try next time i need to move it onto the stand or just need the rear shifted.
Meg can you please do a video on the simple task of a short rider mounting and dismounting a dirt bike? With some of these bikes having seat heights of over 37”, there’s no way I could swing my leg up and over that high. I use the kick stand method (standing on the left peg with the kick stand down) but that’s not always an option with soft ground. Please and thank you. Love your energy.
If you ever been to Europe, especially to northern Spain, you have to take some rides in Catalunya Region "Palafrugell") (and then i come from Germany too) ...
Good tips , I'm 5'10 but I still try and keep my back and shoulders outa the man handling equation. I have used the lean it over on my legs many times. " oh no I'm not " lol
A couple weeks ago I was on my way to the city, scooted through a short bush road to cut off 20km of pavement. There's a chance I would encounter some snow or ice..and that's what happened. Not going very fast I slipped and ice nap😆 Found out you can actually curl a klr on ice. It was so slick(no pun intended) to lift. Is there a mod for putting ice under your bike when you fall?
Hello Meg, I really like what you are doing! Thanks for great content! I take benefit from this vid to remind me about how to do it right. I am missing a situation, where both wheels are in a deep often muddy rut. I was advised in a training to put out the rear wheel first, as the front wheel alows to rotate at the steering head, so you can swing out the rear out of the rut. Next, you pull out the front, by gripping a spoke, not the muddy tire! For this, use a spoke that points forward and lock the front brake to avoid the wheel turning. This technique gives excellent lever and keeps your gloves clean. I use it a lot! Best regards, Erhard
I’m glad you teach these things, I race district 36 and I’m 5’7 on a husky 350 fc. as this is a very hard bike those methods are amazing. But where did you get those plastics!!!! They are outstanding, anybody know where I could get a style like that? Or a good custom place for my old pit bike, it’s a 2004 yz85
I had only known about the method shown from minute 1:54 on vimeo.com/43027039 before watching this video of yours. But I also have the option of grabbing and lifting my bike by its pillion handles, which are a factory fitted accessory because it is a trail bike/dual sport. Now I realize how it can be somewhat more complicated to lift and manoeuvre a bike for riders of cross-country bikes and motocross bikes with road legal/street legal conversion kit: some side panel and rear fender designs just look like the R&D staff think: "Nah, Tim Coleman and his brethen only need a working clutch and the engine on and in gear to lift the bike...".
What, you're not tall!? lol, good tips all around. I have the height and strength to lift the back up and over most obstacles but use these techniques, pretty often it turns out, because of a lack of skill to clear obstacles haha. It's all about energy burn. If you don't work smarter you're burning energy that isn't moving you forward and on longer rides or when racing that is going to show up later in the ride/race.
How comes your bike smokes so much ? did you ever try Klotz ? My Skidoo does not smoke at all when warm.. Years ago I used Bel Ray and Golden Spectro .. Bel Ray suggested 50-1 I always mixed 40 to 1 and 40 to 1 with Golden Spectro too .. Now I just buy Klotz by the gallon . cases of 4 gallons that is
You should get a lighter and funner bike. These 300’s are good, I have one, but when I got a YZ125X I never looked back. You should try one. Lighter, snappier, better suspension, simpler, carb😎, improves clutch control even though it has a lot of torque (add a flywheel weight). Amazing bike, your missing out😉
Bryce Green I’m not saying that she’s not good enough for a 300? All I am saying is that she should buy a 125x as and addition maybe cause it’s funner and lighter and better for practice.
Bryce Green ‘’’mate” I know what I’m doing. I race South African national championships in pro class. You probably don’t even ride. The point is that you practice on that 125x (it’s not just a normal 125) and race on the 300. That will make you improve even more and training will be a lot more fun. Search Roof of Africa on google. I won the silver class on a Yz125x. Now come again
She does. Maybe not this summer, but in the past RallyConnex based in Ontario Canada has hosted her. As well as Paul Bolton, Tim Coleman, and Chris Birch. Also Traction-eRag from British Columbia is in cahoots with Megs.
Well let's see you lift her bike from the downhill side on a loose 40° incline. Better yet, get your Electromatic Hardly Davidson into the places she rides. I'm just busting your chops a bit. My Harley it just as awkward and fucked up on a wet, oily gas station parking lot as yours, but it's really two different things compared to lifting a dirt bike in the rough. Not better or worse. Different. Plus, she's as tall as our kickstands, so...

Your “short rider” series is the best!!! 🔥🍻🔥

Thanks for the tips, keep up the good work.
I'm 6'1" and still use those methods. Saves a LOT of energy.
So this video literally saved last weekend. I got stuck in a mud hole riding by myself and luckily watched this vid last week.

Really awesome tips - I have a bad lower back and really battle to pick up my bike - this will really help - love your vids!
Very cool and smart. And any hints are also nice for bigger riders to safe their backs.
I'm much bigger/older/heavier than you, but these skills all apply to me in the dual sport world! Cheers Megs....ride safe!
My first rule in lifting. 1 Don't do a dual sport ride behind a GS. After that it's easy and wait for help.
😆struth
Great advice for all riders.

Though I'm not short I really like your 'lean it on the leg' tip. Got to try that out.
Ha! Just shared this video with my wife. Dealt with this issue today a few times...

I liked mud method, makes alot of sense, good advice, thanks
Another great video from Megs.
Sweet video, nice tips👍🏻
These are great tips, thank you!
Your short/hot, (welder's term,) riding videos are mandatory viewing for my kids. Great technique isn't limited to altitude deficient folks. 😉
Great advice.
Thank you! You made it look so easy!
God Bless you always....stay safe and peace be with you always....

You Are a big rider 💪👊✊
Excelente dicas, perfeito!
Meg, another good video, thx
Great video!
Can you do a video on how to start the dirtbike?? I'm 5'2" and ride a 250 4 stroke, that's my most challenging part is starting it.
A couple weeks ago I was on my way to the city, scooted through a short bush road to cut off 20km of pavement. There's a chance I would encounter some snow or ice..and that's what happened. thanks, you save my arm
Great content, keep it up :)
agree...I just got my daughter-in-law a bike. She loves these tutorials
what happened to your 2 stroke Husky
Love ya
Thank you ☺️
How tall are you? I have a kx250f and I’m 5,0

You are the best and i like to much your jersey
Great tips
Where did you get your graphics
would you suggest lifting the bike using the chain as a sort of strap? I've seen some dudes do it
brilliant
What bike is that in the video. Thanks.
thank U
you such a princess
Versatile 👁🦄👁👍
What size bike is this 250 or 450
Im a shorty, do you run bar risers ? I find they make it harder to push down on the forks

How can we move it around by sitting on it as short?
But what´s about "short legs" at cross country driving ?
May this is the next topic ... ;o)
Hi🙂 Measured Megs ???

No she isn't. Megs is one of the most capable female riders in North America.
Bryce Green I’m not saying that she’s not good enough for a 300? All I am saying is that she should buy a 125x as and addition maybe cause it’s funner and lighter and better for practice.
@@lenny3394 a 125 would be absolutely terrible in the terrain she rides. She's on the right bike mate.

hello megg....😀
She reminds me of Vanellope von Schweetz :D :D
2:25 Moose!
i'm a 12 year old and i can't pick up my 200lb 125 four stroke
🏆
Nice. Be careful with long hair and rotating parts
That porn music......
Not being a dick but if you are lost at how to even lift your bike up, should you even be on a bike?
Hey Meg Let's see you pick up a Harley Davidson Electric Gluide ...Anyone can pick up a dirt bike
Well let's see you lift her bike from the downhill side on a loose 40° incline. Better yet, get your Electromatic Hardly Davidson into the places she rides. I'm just busting your chops a bit. Hey Mike Skidmarks...let's see you ride a dirt bike as well as she does.
Hope you washed your bike right away or rust rust and more rust.
Hello what is this model bike in your video?
This is a 2018 TE 300.
Great video!
Thank you
