Thank you so much. You literally have the best teaching videos I’ve seen. I’m not trying to be super fast or crazy. Just confident. Cornering is a big one for me. Single track is a big one and I ride a lot of fire roads and regular mountain roads with my wife too and I’m always worried about washing out on the gravel. I’ll try the counter balance on both.

Excellent advice. Another definion of turning while standing is to put your weight in the peg you want to turn.

A trick I learned either from another one of your videos or elsewhere was to weight the inside peg on entry. I did everything else except that and I couldn't figure out why I was so slow and sloppy in those really tight 12" wide single rut trails. After I added weighting the inside peg on entry, I was several times faster and more precise. No more bouncing side to side in the rut like a billiard ball in the corners. I'm not sure if it's "proper technique" but a game changer for me.

Megs, are you squeezing the bike at all during this or just letting the seat float around inside the legs? If your letting in float how do you keep from having to hold on when twisting the gas, you do you re-grab with your knees when you twist the throttle?

    • @megs_braap
