  • crosstrainingen... tractionerag.com How to corner a dirt bike when standing! We've covered cornering when seated, here is your enduro cornering technique when standing on the footpegs of your dirt bike. We can show you how to ride dirt bikes using enduro techniques and dirt bike skills. This vid also uses some of the cornering tips and body positioning from Chris Birch as well as what we learned elsewhere. Are you a beginner dirt rider? Interested in hard enduro riding, endurocross training or wheelies? Watch top trials riders like Graham Jarvis, Chris Birch or Tim Coleman. So... How to corner a dirt bike when standing? It's like poetry in motion - from a standing start they can flip their bikes in mid air through 180 degrees, or climb a six foot vertical wall... no dirt bike fails for these guys so get into our enduro training videos when learning how to corner on a dirt bike. A lot of riders automatically sit down through corners. Cross training has a strong focus on being able to balance on your enduro bike, even at a stand still - this is a handy skill when you have minimal run up to your next obstacle. Your legs act as extra suspension to soak up bumps. How to corner an enduro bike when standing. Where the terrain allows it, you will normally enter the corner wide. Complete your braking and gear selection before you enter the corner. A key is the use of body positioning and 'weighting' - choose when to exert pressure on the pegs and when to 'de-weight' or lift the bike up when learning how to corner on a dirt bike. You want to learn how to ride dirt bikes with our free enduro training videos? Our Cross Training Enduro is a mix of trials and dirt riding skills and techniques. This dirt bike channel also had lots of wheelies, reviews, philosophy, and dirt bike fails videos. Enduro training tips are based on techniques from Tim Coleman, Chris Birch, Graham Jarvis and other hard enduro riders. Most trials techniques involve exact use of the clutch e.g. feathering the clutch for traction control up hills... dropping the clutch to launch the bike into the air as Jonny Walker and Graham Jarvis can do on extreme enduro racing bikes and trials bikes. Everything in extreme enduro terrain throws you off balance, so balancing lays a strong foundation for enduro skills. What is this cross training when learning how to corner on a dirt bike? A small group of Australian riders decided to take on the challenge of learning these techniques such as cornering while standing on dirt bikes in their early 50s, figuring it was now or never to learn some serious enduro skills before their creaking bodies said enough is enough. A little over a year ago they started pouring over extreme enduro video footage for tips on extreme techniques, and bought trials bikes to develop the skills that Graham Jarvis kept emphasising. So get into it and learn how to ride enduro bikes - our vids range from basics for the beginner dirt rider to advanced hard enduro racing for experienced riders. The growth of extreme enduro, endurocross and hard enduro events leads to cross training enduro - trials skills changed to dirt riding on enduro bikes. Almost all the best extreme riders are previously trials champions. Balance in your dirt bike riding also means you can spend more time standing on the footpegs in tough terrain instead of sitting - so you will have far more control. The cross training enduro vids on our dirt bike channel apply the same skills to enduro bikes - you'll be amazed at the difference it makes in terms of traction and advanced techniques such as jumping up vertical rock faces ... and wheelies! Everything in tough gnarly terrain is trying to throw you off balance, so balancing lays a foundation for enduro skills for guys like Jonny Walker and Ruben Chadwick. Trials riders can balance at a stand still for as long as they like - good for hard enduro riding! Cross training enduro has a strong focus on being able to balance on your dirt bike, even at a stand still - this is a handy skill when you have minimal run up to your next obstacle and learning how to ride a dirt bike. Getting into trials riding... Losing traction is a cardinal sin in trials riding and riders go to extreme lengths to ensure their tires don't slip. Wheel spin and slides look great but in most cases mean you losing control of the bike to some extent. The top extreme enduro riders will only lose traction deliberately for certain techniques, such as locking up the rear brake to line themselves up into a tight turn. The "weight the inside peg on entry" is the trick I had been lacking for years and made me multiple times faster on really tight and narrow single track. The bike turns so much faster and tighter. Made all the difference in the world for me. Before I was doing everything EXCEPT weighting the inside peg. I was such a clumsy wallowing pig before.

    Just the other day an amateur motocross rider was wondering why I would hang my butt out and kinda "lean away from the bike" while standing in corners. Now that I've watched this video it looks like I'm practicing the exact technique Chris Birch is demonstrating, all the nuances included!! I used to take enduro lessons a couple of years ago and my coach taught me this technique but I wasn't sure if I was doing it right now that I'm practicing on my own. Thank you so much for this great invaluable information!! Now I know that I'm definitely practicing the right way. There's not much videos here on how to actually stand IN CORNERS..

    I took the Dirtwise class a few years back and it was a wet nasty day. Watching Wattsy doing the two tire almost lockup into a turn while downshifting from a fourth gear run at it was GREAT. According to Shane it was a perrrrrfect day to ride.

    hmmm. I have a trail that I have found and am developing, it is tight , with some steep turns transitioning either on top or in the bottom of ridge or gully. Tonight I was doing laps on this trail trying not to spin or touch a foot down while trying to do it with speed. What you are saying about standing is great but boy sometimes it just feels right to hunker down in a gully turn rather than stand. Especially if a bit of a rut exists. Either way I am having a blast, I must say that before watching your series I did not know much about riding technique and am glad to say I am putting so much stuff I have learned from your vids into practice and realizing a whole other cool way to ride. The level of skill and confidence I have gained this summer alone is fantastic. thanks man, later (:

      +jerry delyea great to hear jerry! birchy's rough rule of thumb is sit for corners that are 90 degrees or tighter otherwise stand. unless it's gnarly of course.... even the top guys sit when it gets nasty.

    I've been practicing slow full lock turns, so the idea of weighting the inside peg isn't quite so alien. But for a lot of us old timers, we've trained for years to weight the outside peg! And that still applies for the classic sit-down MX style turn... I can see how the dynamics work though, for the stand up turn the way that Chris teaches. Oh great! Something more to remember and practice! Dude, you put out so many of these, you're going to force me to get organized and get a note book! And put it on the cross bar pad...
    Another informative yet entertaining video Mr. Morris. Thank you again sir. One critique though, if I may. No Beta babes? Wha?!

      +Robotic Dream it wouldn't strictly be legal in our state forests either, but the cops and rangers are pretty commonsense about it all... if you are registered and have a license they don't care about mirrors, indicators, horns etc.

  • @bobkelly2447
    @bobkelly2447 3 года назад +1

    ok on trails, but on loose gravel weight on the inside peg will get you... if your keeping your body upright and leaning the bike. On loose corners never put your weight on the inside of the corner... put your weight on the outside, that is counter intuitive, but you will find that it works better ! and you won't have the back of the bike slipping out.

    The major problem I always face as I have road bikes as well is it's literally opposite to everything you do on dirt, when I started learning I was always doing opposite balance like this and the instructor was like YOU GONNA DIE!!! haha. strange thing is i never bothered messing around with the powervalve... the engine was so sweet i figured i wouldn't be able to improve on it. mentioned this to the dealer who said that's common, and that guys who do mess around with it usually come back to the stock setting anyway.

    • @crosstrainingenduro
      @crosstrainingenduro  8 лет назад +1

      +Enduro Riders i'll need to get more info from birchy, but i think he's assuming in most cases it will be rough uneven ground so standing will be better unless its a tight corner more than 90 degrees. even then i'm sure there would be exceptions if it was really rough. i figure if the ground is smooth you'd probably be seated for things like a 360 loop. it's probably all different for motocross too, i'm surprised how often those guys are seated over very rough terrain...

    • @robsonenduro3316
      @robsonenduro3316 8 лет назад +1

      +CROSS TRAINING, ENDUROCROSS & ENDURO TECHNIQUES that's because it's easier be seated in ruts since you use them almost as "rails" and all your weight is low. I can't imagine standing and cornering fast in ruts if you cannot slide rear tire out.
