In within the first 5 minutes of it being uploaded. Always a pleasure watching your content, really need the distraction atm as I have cancer and this is really helping me so my thanks go to you and Vanessa. Hope you and your family have good health and happiness in the future
Hi Phil. Cancer sucks no matter what kind. I had a type of Lymphoma and chemo and I'm still here to tell about it. I too watched Eric O and family while I sat in the chair and it went well for me. I hope it goes as well for you. Good luck brother!
I have been watching you for a long time and one thing I have learned from you is " every tool has a hammer side" lol I have learned that the hard way a few times.
The cam bolts on my daughter's old northern-Pennsylvanian High Yoon Day were frozen solid. The alignment guy hosed it down with Thrust; I soaked it with PB Blaster every other day for three weeks. My kid took it back to the alignment guy and the bolts were no longer stuck. 😎
Cracks me up. My local alignment shop tried to tell me my 09 odyssey does not have rear adjustment. I pointed out the adjustment bolts. Now I'll take this video to them
@@HallStevenson I get it being a tech. Yet paying $120 for an alignment ( going cost here in my area) to get the print out and see rear alignment totally out and van pulls worse than before alignment I needed to educate them.
With a lift and decades of experience this is a 10 minute job. Me in my driveway it's a solid 2 hours! I don't miss the days when I insisted on doing work like this myself.
?? It's a very easy job that requires a floor jack and basic tools no alignment necessary. No need to remove the lower control arm like he's doing. Just drop it down
@@dopeman420 So your telling me when you loosen the cam bolt (so you don't tear the bushing prying the arm down) you can install a new spring which changes the ride height and you won't need to reset the toe? You must know something I don't.
I've started doing some of my own repairs on my car (latest changed brake pads and cleaned out and greased the calipers and stuff), but there's no way in hell I'll be doing my own spring work. There's a metric shitton of force in those suckers and I don't want to have it unload on me. Will gladly take it to the shop for it. Few years ago one of my front springs snapped (why do the roads need to much salt...) and my go-to shop replaced both springs quickly and cheaply.
Yes actually I am telling you that! You barely loosen it enough to swing it! Without throwing it out if alignment! Swap the spring, tighten it all up n send it! What does ride height have anything to do with changing a spring??? Lower the jack n tighten the sucker.. your way isn't the only way. Keep it simple. Your a shop so of course your going to get hours in on the job to get paid. Half of what you did simply is not Necessary!!!

Eric I always appreciate it when you tell me to cover my eyes. And what you said about potential energy… Don’t want it to become kinetic energy. Truer words were never spoken.
You asked us a few weeks ago what we wanted to see in your videos in the future. I find some of your fellow auto fixers far to intense and complicated for me and give me brain ache after 10 mins. Your videos on the other hand have just the right amount of high tech troubleshooting that the man at home can still do. But most of all Mr O its the humour. For those of us across the pond your humour is priceless, please don't ever change that whatever direction you decide to go in. Nice to see the lovely Mrs O from time to time too.
My late Dad, who did DIY work on vehicles told me that generally the right side of a vehicle get more dirt and moisture from the road than the left side which probably accounts for Eric having more of a hard time with the right rear.
Love your comment about potential and kinetic energy. There are a few of us fans out there who wear the science nerd and car nuts hats at the same time!
Eric, Great video and fix - thank you! The sound @3:22 was worth the whole thing! Wish we could have seen the struggle with Victor on the other side. Paul (in MA)
If you're stuck crawling around in the dirt doing this job, a paint mark on the cam washer and the subframe is more than close enough to drive it to the alignment shop.
Mr. O, I have a 2005 Toyota Sequoia that has a ton of sentimental value... I bought it new in '05 when my oldest was four and my youngest wasn't around yet. I raised my family in that truck. Other than the paint (which I'm going to do myself), it is in pretty good condition for a truck of its age. Yeah, it does need some suspension parts and other things, but I just don't trust anyone around here to do the work on it. The truck spent the first four years of its life in the rust belt (where I sprayed off the underside twice a week), then the rest of its life in the desert. Very low rust. I'm gonna be retiring in four years, and I think the very first trip my wife and I will take is a cross country from the desert southwest to New York. We'll plan on spending a few weeks there, so you have plenty of time to go through my old truck with a fine tooth comb and repair/replace anything she needs to go another 20 years. I don't care if the bill ends up being several times what the book value on it is; this truck will be used as my tomb stone. : ) She's become a member of my family. The only thing I'll ask is that you use genuine OEM Toyota parts. Other than that, do what needs to be done. Can't wait for the day when I can call you up and book her into your shop. I'm sure New Yawk will have plenty of things to keep me and the missus busy for the weeks that you have her in.
Love the content Eric. You can always tell a good mechanic from a bad one. Or at least ones that fail to learn from every job. You are one of the good ones. Thanks for doing what you do for us.

I just did a Toyota rav 4 AWD from Utah. Rear axle seals and their version of a pinion bearing. Wasn't to bad. It has coil springs. Just unbolted the upper control arms and trail arms. Axles come out without detaching it from the knuckle. Used my inductive heater to get the bolts out. Very similar set up to the hondo minus the rear alignment
Eric, I love your videos! I am planning a trip to NC soon and I am going too take a little detour (from CT) to your shop as I would like to meet you. Like Vice Grip garage where they just cut the spring with a torch, LOL. I appreciate the idea that if you can do it, we can do it. However, I have a lot of tools because I work on my own vehicles. But, you have a lot more than me plus a lift so there are some things not worth tackling on the ground. I say this every time I do exhaust and then I end up doing it again anyway.

Anyway, I was preparing to go down and that's when you want a slow start to the jack, anyway I'm getting ready and someone walks into the shop behind me and yells. I didn't jump, which was a first. Nothing bad happened-stupid story but that's my story.
last set I did was a ford Taurus wagon, after 10 hours I gave up and cut the arms up and replaced then because the bushing were seized to the bolt and nothing worked except a carbide tooth sawzall blade. of course I had trouble sourcing all the specialty adjuster bolts and nuts so I sat twiddling thumbs with it stuck in garage for 2.5 weeks! 😵💫
