I absolutely agree with that. Disney has so many fox catalog titles they won’t even release on physical. But some of these titles I don’t think we can even get Disney or Hulu, like Heat. At least I don’t think. And then Disney has been censoring lots of stuff on their platform. Are you big streamer or mostly physical media for you?
@@megamikethemovieman Yes I agree, it’s sad because Disney has so much great content now with Fox! I have been collecting since VHS but mostly stopped since streaming. I got back into a couple of years ago when I got a 4K TV and Player. I am at about 170 4K titles, 4K Blu Ray’s was a game changer for me and something streaming can’t touch. The boutique horrror releases is also something I’ve started to collect which has become pretty addictive 😆
@@CJ_horror83 I’ve been trying to collect more 4K horror titles. I’m addicted to what Shout factory has been doing with their releases. Did you get the Halloween 4Ks?
Forbidden Planet here in NYC have Grindhouse movies on 4k UHD and Blu-ray
Thanks for the tip, I will have to check that out if I get out to NYC. Never been to a Forbidden Planet, it sounds cool though, do they have a great selection and variety of lots of titles there? I’m always looking for some interesting 4K titles.
I have a little side hustle selling used DVDs here in Australia.
A lot of sales I have are to what appears to be holiday houses, caravaners and retirement villages.
Also remote locations with poor or no internet. Still buy.
Another thing is movie buffs after rare films that are not really streamed anywhere. Mainly arthouse, indy and cult.
Oh and Horror. Horror is a huge seller.
Don’t forget to subscribe my friend. And ya dvds definitely do still have a market out there, still most popular form of physical media due to the price. The slow internet is always what gets me to want more physical media. Horror is one of my favorite genres! Do you collect a lot of movies for yourself by chance and if so what kinds of genres?
Yeah given how crappy cable naturally is and how EXTREMELY volatile the streaming market is with everyone and their mom acting like their sh*t doesn't stink and trying to start their own streaming service resulting in the rights to shows constantly being split up and yanked from various services. Personally I see physical media, mostly physical movies experiencing a massive resurgence in the next few years.
I could see that as a possibility. There will always definitely be a collectors market for physical media. I just depends, since I feel that many times the average entertainment viewer chooses convenience over quality. I’m all about quality though, so physical media for me as much as I can. How big is your physical media collection? And don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already my movie friend.
My daughter loves buying physical media
Me too. I’m so glad she does. Does she usually get more DVDs, Blu-ray’s or 4Ks?
@@megamikethemovieman she buys 4ks Dvds Blu-rays
@@victorpulos823 ya it’s so fun collecting. Does she collect only certain genres or just everything in general?

I feel the same way my friend. What consoles do you use now?

Thank you my movie friend, much appreciated. Hope you continue to enjoy more of my videos. I always respond to comments, so can’t wait to have some fun movie conversations with you.
I was just at a target in my state the other day and it had 4-5 aisles of movies I was just astonished the other day I picked up a couple Star Wars on 4k for a fair price ik there’s Disney plus but it’s just the fact to actually own the saga and the side pieces of Star Wars is cool. I collect media I don’t wanna rely on a streaming service for what I want to watch it’s nice to have your favorite movies in physical form knowing you can watch it anytime
That’s what it’s all about, having the movies you love in your collection! I need to checkout that target, that sounds awesome. I wish there were 4Ks of the original trilogy in original edition form rather than those special edition edits. You think will ever get that? And what genres do you mostly collect for my friend? And don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already.
@@megamikethemovieman I mainly collect horror it’s what most of my collection is but I really only collect my favorite movie series I like some marvel dc is only about Batman that’s it. I used to be a big collector i dwindled my collection down a bit
@@hunterschumacher9024 I collect a variety but my favorites are superhero and then horror movies.
@@megamikethemovieman the need for physical media nowadays is trending down once you see a new release movie out on blue ray or dvd your lucky to even see it on the shelf in a month or 2. Prices have tremendously dropped on some things i remember when the Star Wars complete saga was $90 found it at a pawn shop for $35 which isn’t bad and it was in immaculate condition. So I picked up the other ones so I have the complete collection just seems not too long ago they were making them collectors editon ones
@@hunterschumacher9024 That’s a great find! I need to look for physical media in more places like that to get a good deal. There are good online deals. But not as many deals in the big box retailers any more.
Well for me I have a collection of games from atari to now but I changed over to digital years ago when I got rid of my music collection and streaming movies and music and video games now I don't like to hoard media anymore but there will be ones that still have a choice which is good.
Yes I think still having that choice is important. Do you notice any quality in difference from the video game discs to streaming, I’ve never streamed a video game before?
Not at all I got spectrum internet service it does 2.4 and 5 g unlimited data i got 30-50 mbps so I stream everything to download games, devices alexa echo 15 which I saw your video in my kitchen and my favor roku tv currently watching two sentence horror stores on cw which I love hehe sorry had to put it out there.
Oh and there is no difference at all if it was bad I would have never gone away from physical.
@@alexander2685 ya wasn’t sure with games, I didn’t think there would be much difference for games. But for movies, for now I still notice the quality difference personally for me, streaming not bad quality, it can be actually be really good for movies, to me it is just not the best. Have you tried any 4K movie discs?
@@alexander2685 streaming can be a better option for people, but does heavily rely on the internet one can get it seems. Spectrum let’s me down constantly, they’ve never let you down?
One bright light: Amazon sells a ton of physical media.
That is the number one online place I got to. Do you get most of your physical media from there too?
Physical Media won't die. CDs now are making a come back for example. Blu Rays DVDs 4k movies. No won't ever Die.
I agree, at least for a long time anyway. I still think discs are the best quality format. That is why I have so many 4ks and Blu-ray’s. Are you a big physical media collector?
CDs can be explained by Adelle.
RIP Blockbuster :( I think Physical media might be in decline but wont die off entirely any time soon. It might become niche like audio records but those are still around. Streaming would need internet service providers to give a lot more bandwidth for 4k quality to be widely available. Im not sure non-fiber optic internet cables can handle that as well.
Ya I’m still waiting on that improved consistent internet quality and wider selection. How long do you think physical media will be around?
Getting rid of physical media would be idiotic. Perhaps the majority are casual viewers but physically medias have the highest quality in pictures and sound that streaming cannot match.Getting rid of physical media would be idiotic. I agree my friend. Your a SF fan too? Don’t forget to sub my friend so we can keep talking movies and sports?
I feel like companies like Discotek Media, Criterion, Shout Factory, etc are doing God's work by not only reviving old properties for new generations of fans, but by also presenting those properties better than they have ever been presented! I just bought Project A-Ko on blu-ray because it looks funny and the image looks amazing! Good job, Discotek!
I agree, The boutique labels and us collectors have definitely been keeping physical media alive. They have been putting out amazing products like you’ve mentioned so that’s great for everyone! That’s why I do a lot of physical media videos on my channel every week, please enjoy. And what types of movies do you mostly collect?

It is disappointing for collectors, I think eventually big box retailers won’t be selling physical media but at least there is always online for us which is great! Are you a big physical media collector?
I stream what I can’t find physically. So basically, my life is not all streaming, like you, I’m big on physical media.
