When an animal is a nuisance, they need to be taken care of. They are great for certain types of river's and lakes but your pond is for your animals and your family now.

The footage is so good that those that have never seen a beaver 🦫 in the wild will be shocked and enthralled at the same time. Their tail always has amazed me since I was a little girl. When I was very young I was able to touch a tail and it reminded me of leather. Not sure at my age now if that is the right description.
So happy that you and Rae now have house plans and know where your house is going on your property. That chain saw really cut those trees so quickly. Bless you all.

We tried to get bats in our city but people were scared to do that 🤦🏽♂️. Bats are awesome. But many lack knowledge

12 bolt in piers? Ok. The cabin builders must have additional info. Think about 12 additional stabilizer piers not attached so you have the same support. Don't want sagging floors 10-15 years down the road.

My husband and I used to clear our land every few years with DR equipment - we had everything from a simple mower to a brush “mower” that could accommodate up to 6” diameter. Big stuff we took down with chain saws first.

The house plans look brilliant Chad and combined with the 2 bedrooms on the existing house it certainly will be special. My only concern is for later years with having so many steps into and out off but you 2 have probably considered all this. We hadn’t unfortunately and I had to leave my beloved home when due to sudden ill health I could no longer manage steps. I was utterly devastated.
Sorry to hear Carol I understand I’m a senior citizen and stairs are a challenge for me as well.
I am 61 and have to use ramps no steps not even 2 or 3 I never dreamed in my 30s I would be here at 61
We’ll build a ramp or something long before necessary.
My brother rebuilt the steps to my parents back door so there was a shorter rise. He's getting g ready to redo them again as 10 years later I can't get up or down them easily. We're redoing the front porch and adding a ramp to facilitate. Dads declining mobity.

Chad I was a farmers daughter. You are doing the right thing . You got the water figured out . You got the electric figured out . Your animals will determine what they need and you tend to it as the situation comes up . You have been watching the land and it will show you standing water , how the water flows when it rains . You and Rae have three boys to have to do for . I think you are doing a great job . Follow your own timeline of getting things done .
Daniel Arms might be able to tell you about the trees. He just had a ton of work on his new property dam and the trees, he had someone that had advised him to take out a bunch of tres. Just a suggestion if you don’t have anyone else who can tell you. I love seeing all your animals and you taking care of them. Very excited to hear about your house plans. Poly and piers under the cabin will work fine …. Connect the cabin to the house with a lanai…. Dry lock your crawl space walls to keep water out
Chad do you have a local farmers co-op ? You may check with them and local spca on borrowing or renting a beaver trap . Unless you are serious about making some fried beaver nuggets .

I think bats can feel or sense the electricity in the pole, maybe you should move the bat house. Just something to check.

For your plans on the house, please consider a poured concrete foundation. You can't put a sledge hammer through 9" thick concrete, but you can easily through the block base!!! It will also help stop the water flow from moving the block. We have the same land layout with a walk out basement. No problem with water, tends to flow around, no weak spots!!! Good luck!!! Love watching❤

I volunteered with several animal rescue groups, the consensus is lost dogs and cats can travel 5 miles a day. Hope you get Smokey back!

Great plan but think about all the stairs when you get old. My bedroom is upstairs. I haven't slept in it for along time and I'm not very old.
The trees are important for shade for the fish, and also for attracting bugs, etc. for them to feed on. We used to fish at this huge pond. The owners cut down all of the trees, bushes and cut the grass down and now there are no more fish. My son was explaining all the ecological reasons for it. I just don't remember.

I know that feeling! And those suckers grow sooo big and you can't catch them you have to trap them and so hard to do that.

The house plans are gorgeous. Just the right size, kids don't stay around forever and it's a forever country home. I can see a porch swing on the deck, drinking your morning coffee and watching the sun rise or just sitting there in the evening watching the sun set.

I don't think it's the light that bothers the bats but they feel the electric current and won't use the box. Need to move it. Best place would be on a post .
I looked at the house plan and notice you have an extra porch space next to the second bedroom that could be enclosed for a third bedroom for the boys while they are younger and. Just a thought.
Love your ideas on the house and cabin. You could always turn cabin into a barn.just an idea.

Happy birthday Ransom! I think your friend has a valid point that you had beavers but all the new activity around the pond lead them to leave. We had beavers for a short time but they didn't stuck around long because of our dogs barking at them whenever they came up on the bank.

Wow that is s large beaver. I am sure there is more. The pond guys in Greenville TX will come out tell you what you have in the pond and after they learn what you want to use pond for they will help you get it there. Very nice guys.
