I was at the Gasworks the day it opened. (1969?). For the first couple of days it still had to have the separate entrance for Ladies and Escorts since it was a tavern. Drafts were 10c each.. They opened the Chimney upstairs for more intimate dining. I had one of the first Head Shops at 646( I think) Yonge St right across the street ( The United Notions) from the Gasworks and my 'company car' was a 1954 Cadillac hearse painted royal blue.
9 story Scotia back there now. Did they leave any trace of mention of this place? Mike Myers said it was the inspiration for the place he used in Wayne’s world.
I worked on the door of cornelius way back in '78..there were two brothers who worked the door downstairs at the gasworks..would love to know whatever came of them.
Loved me them quart bottles of beer at the Gasworks. Great parties, even greater after parties.
