Hey, I have a lot to learn still... But thank You. I was learning at my desk ha! Lots of years... But seriously hobby to pro took me about 8 years or more... I studied art since I was 14 and before that I was drawing all the time... I still do :) Cheers!
for those being critical about paper and such, the ink cartridges that come with the pens are fantastic but yes they bleed. johnnealbooks.com sells cheap pads of paper that work perfectly with the ink that comes with this pen... I own multiple 6.0mm pens that I've modified the nib (used a dremmel to grind one side down and took out the middle and another one I shifted over a little and took a piece of the nib from there) I've only done the mods on the bigger nib as I'm still learning. also Canson makes a mixed media pad that's like 5 to 7 bucks (USD) You can purchase this pad (it's cover is blue and comes in many different sizes) also Utrecht.com sells the Canson mixed media pad cheaper than walmart. hope this helps those of you with the bleeding issues. also if you dust your paper with gum sandarac that will help with feathering ink. on a side note how did you get that orange hue? I thought it was noodlers apache sunset but mine doesn't look as fluorescent as yours. awesome video and yes these are the BEST broad edged pens out hands down... Lamy doesn't even compare.. but that's just my PERSONAL opinion :)
Excellent penmanship!!! I got these pens and was excited to experiment. My results were very promising. I attempted to exact your style of script and came very close. However I noticed 2 things right off the bat; 1, using regular copier paper isn't ideal, subtle bleeds occur, 2. Is your technique! You have master what I'm calling a "micro twist" when handling the pen, that's how you go from thick to a single thin line either at the beginning if your stroke or when finishing a stroke!!! Great work n' Thanks Theosone!
As an Artists and pen lover I was shocked I've never have heard of a Parallel Pen so Immediately went out and bought 2 of them the 6.5 the Blueone and the 2.0 the orange one .. I do have to say it does depend on the type of paper you use,, and also you became a wonderful Calligrapher,, I have found calligraphy metal tips that go in to the pens and also found a Parallel Pen tip that works amazing just got to keep dipping it, well now I can't live without this pen
yeah... just normal stuff... who am i kidding? THAT WAS AWESOMEEE! please keep up the great work, my heart almost couldn't handle the beauty in this video.
I would like to mention one detail that might help thesone. The piece you said was for cleaning the pen is actually so you may be able to use bottled ink. It may take 4 or 5 pumps to fill the converter. Hopefully you may find this tip helpful.
the "squeezy thing" that you said is for cleaning is actually a cartridge converter, enabling you to use bottled fountain pen inks, if which there are many, MANY great ones to chose from, to give you many creative effects. try some Noodlers Apache Sunset, or j herbins emerald of chivor. great fun.
I know a few great calligraphers who are lefty. There are also special dip pen (cut differently) for left-handed use. You can do calligraphy up-side-down to avoid going over the wet ink -- it's easier that it sounds. You will be fine. Just find tips and tricks from other lefty calligraphers.
The pens are exceptionally good. And the best thing is you can use any ink you have just refill the cartridge and up you go.
I use to do lettering with a fine tip sharpie but I always had to thicken the lines in specific areas and it takes up a lot of time colouring it in, so I might get this
Superlative stuff, Theosone....I have the 6mm pen (currently), but shall now purchase the other three sizes. To say you're dynamic would be an understatement - grateful thanks for the overview !! I am now subscribed :D
I just use a dosage syringe for refilling the regular cartridges. You can also fit a pilot con-50 if you want a screw type converter for it. And yes, it takes regular fountain pen ink. I'd stay clear of india ink (or pigment based inks in general) since they tend to clog up this type of feed.
Best I have ever seen. I think calligraphy such as this is better if its done in black or blue. Orange seems to lesson your skill. love the Irish Music.
+Chris Coppola I used to do GOTHIC many years ago, always used India ink (black) I never thought to use any other colour, but I think a bit of variation looks nice, I sometimes used turquoise at school, (a long time ago) that looked different.
Another amazing video! Watching the ink flow into such amazing letters is very inspiring. I bought this pen and it works very well. Thanks for the incredible videos! Also, have you thought about making some booklets of your lettering alphabets to sell? I would be interested in them as would others Im sure. The hard part in learning is knowing different ways to draw each letter. You have a unique spin on the traditional methods. Just a thought.
Hard to say, for gothic-like lettering there are different nibs, not like tho one in parallel, there is a lot of materials about calligraphy for left handed, look it up on google. Also find a video of John DeCollibus. Not the type of lettering like here but what this man does is amazing... and he is left handed
Great video, as usual! Funny thing is I bought the 2.4mm Pilot Parallel Pen yesterday and came to your page to get some ideas... To find out you just made a review of it! :-)
Nakurw dobre narzędzie. Siedzę sobie właśnie z Martuchą i oglądamy Twoje filmiki sprzed 7 lat.
Omg youre AMAZING. how can I get to one TENTH of your ability? Where or how did you get your style? Where can I learn the style of lettering you do? It is just so incredible...
Hi theosone, Its been a while since I was last in touch! Thanks for demoing these types of pen. I have some dip pen of similar size but after I got them I started to shake and still have not used them. Thanks for the upload, OK? Take care. mrbluenun
Excuse me, how can I buy this pen??? I'm come from Vietnam and I started to practise writing Calligraphy a week ago. I love it. Thank you for your help.
No proszę!
I would like to be your F@#$#N apprentice..subscribed the moment i saw the T... you are amazing man, beautiful work..your proportions are just amazing.. beast work man......AWESOME
I've bought one of these pens (2,4 mm) on ebay just because I've watched this video, I'd like to watch you writing at a slower speed. (Sorry if my English is incorrect, I speak Portuguese!)
Hey, I have a lot to learn still... But thank You. I was learning at my desk ha! Lots of years... But seriously hobby to pro took me about 8 years or more... I studied art since I was 14 and before that I was drawing all the time... I still do :) Cheers!
The flow and looseness you possess is amazing sir. You make it look easy
This video is on of the reasons #CalligraphyMasters to be alive today :)

Hi!
You can refill it with talens ecoline, you can try to fill the empty cardridge but you can also fill the whole pen into the handle and it works :)
Absolutely breath taking! I want to try a parallel pen now!!!
I literally held my breath at 5:20. First time seeing someone writing like that on camera
hand of God ... So Beautiful

Beautiful swash at 6:02, it looks like a leaf. Very elegant writing!
Thank You. I do it for years now... I learned by my self :)
hey even me I learned this magic by myself
I’ve been watching this guys videos for a long time now, and I must say, Theos is definitely a Master of His Craft.
If you're curious about the music in this video, type:
21. Cardinal Knowledge (end credits) - The secret of Kells OST
in the RUclips search bar. :)
Stuff What about the song that starts at 10:30? Is that also from the Secret of Kells soundtrack? Thx
Wow, stunning work. Some things computers cannot do.
I pale with envy... It seems I have years of catching up to do.
I applaud your skill, sir, this is a pleasure to watch.
Just got a set of all four of these pens last week (after being inspired by this video), haven't been able to put them down yet!
Excellent penmanship!!! I got these pens and was excited to experiment. My results were very promising. I attempted to exact your style of script and came very close. I love the pilot pen! I also add metallic ink and gouache to mine to make sparkly, rainbow letters. Love your work Theos! xxx

I love the Music in your videos! The calligraphy isn't bad either.

So beautiful and fluid. What a beautiful art.
or if you don't like to mix the watercolor you can also use winsor & newton's inks, they have a lot of colors and do not seem to fade with time.
Awesome video! I'm going to look into buying those!! Keep up the great work.
Love the custom lettering. Any chance you could do an A to Z video to help us out because I'm thinking to start doing some lettering my self. Thanks
