Not every year is red. 2019 was striped like a candy cane, which was different. 2020 was gold, although pretty tacky. 2021 was silver, and I like it. There are always new buyers who don't have all the others and want something that looks like it belongs to the Christmas holiday. That does limit the colour choices.

Even if they’re not directly after one another they’re still bland and hard to distinguish from one another, for something that’s supposed to be a more special release they should try to put a little more creativity to make it so someone who looks at a lineup of the dolls can see some design theme/characteristic the other red dress dolls don’t have.
It does bug me when rainbow high tries alt fashion they have to add glam/designer stuff to it, but it’s still cool to see. I’ll definitely be getting the neon pink one! Looking forward to see more pics of them.
i agree ! as someone who’s a big fan of alt fashion (not just punk aesthetics but also lolita and goth fashions, etc) i am really upset that they always seem to have this aspect of designer style to them and i just think rainbow high is so good quality that they could really knock true alt fashion out of the park. until then, lol omg dolls take the cake for the best experimental fashions and committing to looks and aesthetics. i’m also severely disappointed in the lack of hair textures in rainbow high. we have like what? one girl with braids? that’s it? lol has been doing curlier and more afro centric hair textures since the beginning on a doll scale so i know rainbow high is just being lazy. i would kill to have a natural hair moment, rather than just slick ponytail with some edges. the diversity needs improvement.
As a former emo kid, I am so beyond stoked for Emma Emo! Even though she's actually scene lol. I have to say the series of tweens she's a part of is overall the most underwhelming so far in my opinion, but that's okay because I'm on a budget anyways 😂 I've been wanting Lexxi Gurl (might have spelled her name wrong) forever, and I just found her on sale yesterday! I absolutely adore all the teeny tiny details on such a small scale, I definitely will be looking to get the other tweens from the last series.
As a tween currently going through my emo & scene phase I love Emma Emo and will definitely be buying her glad to see that former emo kids also like her :D

Megara doll looks beautiful 😍 I saw an unboxing of the Dracula doll and she's cool but up close it's like is missing something for me. I noticed that a lot of the new dolls are new releases of old ones, is a trend now? I honestly was going to get the Dracula Scullector doll, but I forgot to set an alarm to let myself know that it's time to buy her. Somewhat unfortunately, I forgot to check until that night and of course the doll was sold out. I guess it wasn't meant to be. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for the Creeperduction doll to come to Target. C'mon Mattel! Distribute the dolls to more stores! Anyway, I personally really like the Shadow High dolls for Rainbowvision. I have yet to buy a Rainbow High doll (though if I go to Target and see the onyx Shadow High doll, I'm grabbing her), but that could completely change with Rainbowvision. I'm still curious to see the Pacific Coast kpop trio. Wonder when we'll get leaks or official photos of those. I've got a lot to say about these! first of all: congratulations to Dracula for transitioning! I'm so happy for her! and now the rest: I'm the market they're going for with the Glo-up Girls. I actually really like the over-the-top disney channel clothing style, since it's a lot like how I uses to dress lmao. I still do to a lesser extent, I just don't have the energy to put on and take off that many layers and accessories every single day and then washing all that laundry anymore. but there's always been something special to me about putting on a horrific amount of clothes and making look good anyway! but yeah it's definitely not for everyone! the pride Bratz dolls are single-handedly saving the world. I adore them. the price makes me sad though. I've never been a fan of the lol dolls' faces, but that scene queen! with the entire rest of her design, the face doesn't bother me anymore! one more thing, did anyone else see the Beyond Shadow dolls and think of the disaster that was the Tramp Stamps? I like the dolls miles better than the obnoxious industry plants. I kinda want the blue doll!

Funny enough I was going through one of my moms old stuff and I found a vintage Barbie, I don’t believe we are selling it though. Also there is a rumor going around that American girl might keep Kira Bailey and remove Julie since they are basically the same doll just one has curly hair. So if it ends up happening you might want to get a Julie if you have been wanting her. You can get her old meet outfit on eBay if you don’t want her beforever one. I personally didn’t like her beforever outfit but we got our Julie before they redid her luckily.

I have the Bratz pride pack on the way, should be arriving in a week, and I'm super excited, I love them! I want the couple 80s Barbie repros bc I adore the colors from that era, I'm not a huge LOL/OMG fan- just don't like their faces that much but I've become interested despite that recently bc the clothes and hair are great, still don't actually have any yet though- but I really want Emma Emo. The Rainbow Divas are gorgeous 😍 I definitely think I'll be getting the one in white and pink. I'm pretty disappointed by the outfit choices on the new Glo Up Girls since I really want a second one to go with my first. They're just so....loud. But Tiffany and Rose seem to have the sweetest vibes so I might give them a shot if they look cute in person.

While I adore the Neon Shadow dolls I do agree that I'm kind of tired of them "glamming up" alternative aesthetics with sequins and furs. Those are pieces I definitely don't intend on keeping or using, but I do still plan on getting the dolls. I absolutely adore Harley's color scheme and screening.

Justice for original AE Kit and Julie! I feel like the Be Forever stuff, especially Julie (okay mostly just Julie), looked like the Halloween Store bag costume version of historical/vintage clothes. If that's because they think all young girls like things that look more 'modern and colorful' or whatever, well, nine year old me is ready to stomp in from the past and explain how that is incorrect and not giving young girls who love historical clothes credit.
I really want them to bring back the original Samantha too. I really hate her new clothes, which look like stuff I would have worn when I was five, not Victorian/Edwardian at all. And I really want them to bring back the Best Friend dolls, and maybe finally give Ana a doll. I think they were planning to make Ana Rebecca's best friend, but then they discontinued the best friend series. But Ana was made for it! There's even an in story reason for why she and Rebecca could share clothes, being that Rebecca has identical hand-me-downs from her older twin sisters, and she gave the duplicates to Ana. This got off topic. My point is that I wish they would bring back the OG dolls, and give some of them best friend dolls again. Kiersten also had a Native American friend who they could have made into a doll.

I always find it lame that the holiday barbies could go for a new years style but never went for a Kwanzaa, Diwali, Yule, or Hanukkah influence- you can only do so much with christmas and new years.
i get why these dolls are great for adult collectors, but I can't help but think that the more complicated these dolls get, the less... kid friendly these dolls become? what i mean, they're not really suited for kids to play with them. I feel like most people were really rough on the dolls they played with, i know i was always throwing them around and cutting their hair off. The barbies are less interesting, but i feel like they have like a simpler appeal to kids compared to like, those 3 super glamourous rainbow high dolls. idk

Honestly, I'm just glad to see at least one red head doll! I hardly ever see dolls that look close to me and now there's several. The holiday barbie dress looks like a take on the Poinsettia flower. The petal design makes it look like it at least. They should have added a green and yellow belt or green veins going through the dress to make it look more like a flower if that's what they're going with.

I have such a soft spot for Meg. I'll probably cave and get her, especially if I end up seeing her being sold around the parks. I spotted some of the other designer dolls there and was glad to have an opportunity to look them over in person instead of just buying them online, and I hope that trend continues. Thankfully the online releases haven't sold out as quickly as when they were sent to Disney Stores, so there's definitely time to stew on a decision there. I do think the Designer dolls' price point is a bit exorbitant when dolls like Shadow High genuinely outshine their quality for a third of the price, but that's Disney, and I'm a sucker.
It’s funny I’m not super into dolls but when I first saw na na na surprise dolls I actually really liked them. They made me think of the dolls I loved as a kid, like lala loopsies and monster high dolls, and I was surprised to find they were generally poorly received. I didn’t look to hard into them though, so I might have missed a lot of detail with their designs

The designers have to work within the budgetary and production constraints that Mattel gives them. So, likely what it takes to be a designer is to watch your creative ideas get hacked down until there isn't much left.
my barbie rewind dolls came in a few days ago and I LOVE them. the hair quality and fabrics are a bit lacking, but overall I think they are great dolls

I love the Rewind line and have the first three. Of the new ones, I just bought the redhead so far. They were $70 on Amazon in Canada. I ordered directly from Mattel, but still expensive with exchange and shipping. I also bought the redhead in the Looks line. I like most of the dolls in this list, but am running out of space and money, so I have to be choosy.

I personally didn’t like her beforever outfit but we got our Julie before they redid her luckily.

Im fully with you there!!!! but i also 100% get from a production standpoint the male dolls sell far less than the female dolls. its also why Rainbow high only has 3 male dolls so far and how many female dolls?!?! i mean it took this long to get a merman color reveal! but the poll taken that ultimately ended up in King Ocean Ken winning over the barbie and getting produced should indicate to them that ppl do want more Kens than we r currently getting.
I have the Bratz pride pack on the way, should be arriving in a week, and I'm super excited, I love them! I want the couple 80s Barbie repros bc I adore the colors from that era, I'm not a huge LOL/OMG fan- just don't like their faces that much but I've become interested despite that recently bc the clothes and hair are great, still don't actually have any yet though- but I really want Emma Emo. I'm actually much more of a fan of the Neon Shadow dolls than the Rainbow Divas myself- I love neon colors and I'm just way more into their aesthetic than the ultra-glam sort of thing the Divas have going on. Don't get me wrong, they're pretty and their designs are great, it's just not what personally interests me fashion-wise.
also aaa there's so many new Rainbow High releases coming out, I only just got into the brand and got the core 6 and I'm immediately overwhelmed with more dolls I want than I can afford and then there's still more coming >< I still need Bella and Amaya and I really want all the Junior High and first wave of Shadow High ones...

The Rainbow Divas are gorgeous 😍 I definitely think I'll be getting the one in white and pink. I'm pretty disappointed by the outfit choices on the new Glo Up Girls since I really want a second one to go with my first. They're just so....loud. But Tiffany and Rose seem to have the sweetest vibes so I might give them a shot if they look cute in person.

While I adore the Neon Shadow dolls I do agree that I'm kind of tired of them "glamming up" alternative aesthetics with sequins and furs. Those are pieces I definitely don't intend on keeping or using, but I do still plan on getting the dolls. I absolutely adore Harley's color scheme and screening.
I love the Tweens dolls and the set looks absolutely adorable!! I'm waiting for maybe tables and chairs that's made for the Tweens 'cause I want my Tweens dolls to have like a hangout spot for them to chill at.

Has been making me want to get some dolls to collect haha issue is the one i want most i can’t find or is way more than i can afford: the Barbie “Deirdre of Ulster”. My mother bought her as a collectible when i was a kid and she is GORGEOUS. Unfortunately she sold her on eBay several years ago 😭 but seriously: the face, the hair, the gown- all perfection.

I feel like the Be Forever stuff, especially Julie (okay mostly just Julie), looked like the Halloween Store bag costume version of historical/vintage clothes. If that's because they think all young girls like things that look more 'modern and colorful' or whatever, well, nine year old me is ready to stomp in from the past and explain how that is incorrect and not giving young girls who love historical clothes credit.
I really want them to bring back the original Samantha too. I really hate her new clothes, which look like stuff I would have worn when I was five, not Victorian/Edwardian at all. And I really want them to bring back the Best Friend dolls, and maybe finally give Ana a doll. I think they were planning to make Ana Rebecca's best friend, but then they discontinued the best friend series. But Ana was made for it! There's even an in story reason for why she and Rebecca could share clothes, being that Rebecca has identical hand-me-downs from her older twin sisters, and she gave the duplicates to Ana. This got off topic. My point is that I wish they would bring back the OG dolls, and give some of them best friend dolls again. Kiersten also had a Native American friend who they could have made into a doll.

I always find it lame that the holiday barbies could go for a new years style but never went for a Kwanzaa, Diwali, Yule, or Hanukkah influence- you can only do so much with christmas and new years.

i get why these dolls are great for adult collectors, but I can't help but think that the more complicated these dolls get, the less... kid friendly these dolls become? what i mean, they're not really suited for kids to play with them. I feel like most people were really rough on the dolls they played with, i know i was always throwing them around and cutting their hair off. The barbies are less interesting, but i feel like they have like a simpler appeal to kids compared to like, those 3 super glamourous rainbow high dolls. idk

Honestly, I'm just glad to see at least one red head doll! I hardly ever see dolls that look close to me and now there's several. The holiday barbie dress looks like a take on the Poinsettia flower. The petal design makes it look like it at least. They should have added a green and yellow belt or green veins going through the dress to make it look more like a flower if that's what they're going with.

I have such a soft spot for Meg. I'll probably cave and get her, especially if I end up seeing her being sold around the parks. I spotted some of the other designer dolls there and was glad to have an opportunity to look them over in person instead of just buying them online, and I hope that trend continues. Thankfully the online releases haven't sold out as quickly as when they were sent to Disney Stores, so there's definitely time to stew on a decision there.
I do think the Designer dolls' price point is a bit exorbitant when dolls like Shadow High genuinely outshine their quality for a third of the price, but that's Disney, and I'm a sucker.

It’s funny I’m not super into dolls but when I first saw na na na surprise dolls I actually really liked them. They made me think of the dolls I loved as a kid, like lala loopsies and monster high dolls, and I was surprised to find they were generally poorly received.
I didn’t look to hard into them though, so I might have missed a lot of detail with their designs
I'm stoked they're finally making reproduction Francies! I collect a lot of mod dolls and I've never been able to afford an original black Francie so I'm very excited for that. I also love the Dracula doll, but like you said it's going to be long gone before I even type it in. I gotta say, I don't like the way Mattel has handled rolling those dolls out. I just don't like faux scarcity.

The designers have to work within the budgetary and production constraints that Mattel gives them. So, likely what it takes to be a designer is to watch your creative ideas get hacked down until there isn't much left.

I love the Rewind line and have the first three. Of the new ones, I just bought the redhead so far. They were $70 on Amazon in Canada. I ordered directly from Mattel, but still expensive with exchange and shipping. I also bought the redhead in the Looks line. I like most of the dolls in this list, but am running out of space and money, so I have to be choosy.

I will say i don't know if someone has already commented this but her name is not pronounced Ma-Gar-aa its pronounced Meg-a-ra the "Meg" part sounds like the beginning of the name Megan. and that, i was quite surprised to learn, is not a Disney made up name she's actually a real princess in the Hercules story. for the longest time i thought she was made up by Disney nope she's got actual foundation in the original Greek myths!!! ANNNNND is a real princess in the old story too!!!
