- 3rd Gen 4runner LIFT - Bilstein 5100 - RITA the 4runner - EP. 33 - 98 Toyota 4runner
Rita the 4runner has been in need of a lift for as long as I've had it. The main reason I want to lift it is to get rid of the factory 4runner squat. I already had Bilstein 5100 installed on the truck, so all I needed was lift springs for the rear. But after installing the lift springs it looks like I adjusted the front a little too high, so the I still have that darn squat.

Great vid! I'm actually doing the exact same lift on my '01 right now. Plus lower/upper ball joints, all new bushings, steering rack, plus had my fuel injectors cleaned. It's a big job but I've learned a ton about my 4runner.
Oh yeah those lower ball joints are super important on these. That’s for sure a lot of work good luck man!
Wanting to lift the back of my 3rd gen because it's sagging 2 inches but after watching this i may lift the front by an inch. The lift looks very good with stock tires! Wasn't expecting that
Awesome content, you got yourself a subscriber. Quality video and editing!!
Thanks much appreciated👍🏽
Did you ever drop the front strut down a notch? We need an update on this rig!! You got 4runner gear heads out here!😊
I’m putting 6112s on mine and I’m reading the clip positions are off from what bilstein says they will be. Was hoping on a setup that produces a small rake rather than a squat. Hopefully I got it just right without overdoing the front. I reaaaallly don’t wanna pull them off and change the clip position. I also got a 1/4” top hat spacer which produces a half inch lift so I can get more lift out of less preload. Less harsh of a ride. But I may not use it if it lifts too much… I guess we will see…
It’s straight. just wait to get tires and it will look better you could get stiffer springs for the rear but you will sacrifice ride quality. If you want more rake in the rear then yah just go down a perch in the front.
I didn't know you could use factory springs with Bilstein 5100s👍🏽
Oh yeah! This combo has been working great
@@JaayPeeBuilt how the ride quality of the front? Same as stock height?
Not made for any other springs.
Just got my bilstein 5100s in the mail, got 2021 5th gen springs to go with em
What springs did you get for the rear? 906 or 890?
Looks perfect! I have a 2001 limited 2wd. I just want a little more lift. In the video, I see you have the Bilstein shocks all around, which pretty much seems to be the go to shocks.. However, did you keep the stock spring in the front? What springs did you put on back ? Most people are using OME. Also, what size tires are you running? Thank you
What size tires dose it have
Leave it !!
Nice Job - but maybe I missed it...were these standard size Toyota springs with the Bilstein 5100'Ss? and after driving it a bit did you find you had to add lift kit spacers like some comment on for the front diff.? .thanks
The front are factory Toyota springs and the rear are the old man emu 2” lift springs… and I haven’t seen or felt the need for diff spacers.
@@JaayPeeBuilt you might soon, keep an eye on your inner boots. I'm about to do the same size lift and shopping for a diff drop kit.
@@dlim1984 I’m a Honda guy….. tearing cv boots is nothing new😂😂😂 the angle of the axles aren’t drastic so I’m not too worried.
The rear springs can present a challenge, simply because of the spring height. I don't like the squatted look either. I would leave the front as is and focus on raising a the rear just a few inches... Maybe about 1 or 2.
3" lift back wheels, 2" front!
Look higher then 2 inch ?
The front might be slightly higher than 2” but I think the smaller tires made it look a little weird
@@JaayPeeBuilt yea my is 2inch on stock 16s and tires but not close to as high as yours
Tilt your head a little, it'll be level.
Lower it….u will get a better ride from the front
Yeah I’m for sure gonna lower the front one notch
