There's a good chance you'll listen to this song in 10, or 15 years, and I promise that those lyrics, and the supporting instrumentation and vocals get more profound with every passing year. This is truly one of the greatest songs ever written, by one of the greatest bands ever to write songs.

Reading about Roger Waters is quite fascinating. His parents, literally teachers, taught him so much. His mother travelled up to the North of England and taught there.
She was somewhat a radical so it is clear where the frontman gets the cut of his jib. _‘Mother do you think they’ll drop the bomb’._
His parents told him to make up his own mind about a lot of things.
A bit before my time, and never partook of the herbal puff stuff. My pals did, my best pal dropped dead, my other pal who picked him up was really into Pink Floyd.
A strange thing happened. When my pal died young, everyone I knew him through stopped contacting me. It does not bother me but I had never heard of it and do not know what that is called.
I remember this band had a poster/ album cover with a lot of beds lined up on a beach. There is one with lightbulbs I think, and a guy on fire shaking hands with another guy.
The son of the guitarist tried to pull down a statue in England. I would say they are more evocative rather than ‘greatest’ or ‘profound’. I wonder if they’ve done film score work. That album on Biss’s thumbnail has never been an OOP, out of print since its release I am sure.
Hugely successful band. and huge extra points they are not Coldplay.

Disagree - I'm almost 60 years old now & have been trying to get into Pink Floyd for over 40 years but I just can't do it; I still find them as pretentious, dull & boring as I ever did even though my attempt to like them has resulted in me owning 11 of their albums.

@@balthazartrumpi6808 I thought I was missing something as everyone else seemed to think that Floyd were amongst the greatest. Funnily enough I just bought 4 more Pink Floyd albums (CDs) - The Division Bell, Delicate Sound Of Thunder, Pulse & The Endless River though I am yet to listen to them. As with all my Floyd albums I bought them second hand, from a charity shop for 50p each. I have some vinyl albums (Relics, Ummagumma & another couple that I can't remember the titles of) that I bought at car boot sales for 20p each. I wouldn't pay full price for new albums. Maybe it'll just click with me one day & I'll finally "get it" but I'm not holding my breath!! The money I pay for these albums is so little that if I just lost it out of my pocket I wouldn't notice it was gone & maybe they'll be worth something one day - probably when Gilmour or Waters dies!

It's been decades that I cite this song as my favorite one (although it's hard to have a true "favorite"), and my favorite solo, and I was often confronted to people (in a peaceful way) citing "Comfortably Numb" or so. I'm happy to see this song gets more recognition since I watch reacts on RUclips.
Sadly DSOTM suffer from being "the most sold album", and there's often a "snobbism" reaction of trying to avoid citing it... But DSOTM is still the first album of their golden arc, so even if the 3 followings are masterpieces, undoubtedly, there's (to me) a "prize" to be the first one. DSOTM is indeed the best album in Space Time, it's one of the "perfect albums".

My memory is not as sharp as it should be, because it is maybe I mixed up the numbers of Voyager one or two. But it’s really doesn’t matter, what matters is the message about our little miserable being in the universe!

@@grabtharshammer I couldn't agree more. That would be awesome.
Question is though, the original album version or when they played the whole thing live on "Pulse"? Very good case to make for either of those, but I would choose "Pulse" because of the immediacy of the live experience and the spectacular visuals that add so much to it.

The ending of "Time" seemed a little abrupt because on the album it flows right into the next song, "The Great Gig in the Sky". I first heard this when I was 17. Now I’m 63. And of course, I’ve listened to this over years. As time continues to move on the more meaningful this becomes. Timeless. Revisit this song throughout your life.
And, it’s a drag that we are ruled by time. Some days when I’m not working I don’t even want to know what time it is! There just isn’t ever enough time.

"Time" actually ends on the line "the time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say," and is very much a metaphor for life itself; that we start out with all the time in the world, only to realise later that it is more precious and finite than we thought. For so many people, time runs out when they still have so much more to do.

The strongest line for me is “thought I had something more to say”. I’m 73 and feel that I’m just learning how life works. A beautiful moving track….
One thing I have discovered is that when I was young I thought 50, 60 was ‘old’. When you get there, it’s not. I don’t feel old now (that will be when I’m 80 - hopefully - 🤣🤣) and I thought ‘how old do I feel?’ and it’s older than my thirties, but not older than my forties. This was corroborated later by two older British figures Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer in their “Gone Fishing” TV Programme when they (in their early seventies) said they felt to be in their forties. It’s very positive 😃

The opening alarms are the start of life, followed by the wasting of time because you're young, followed by the wasting of effort in middle age (the plans that come to aught), and followed by the old age of just wanting to warm your bones beside the fire, finally with the tolling of the iron bell, which is part of the softly spoken magic spell (the funeral rites which await us all). Every stage of life makes this song deeper.

Bisscute I wrote this in 92.
    Dyslexic Melody
    Pain inside my head
Was breakin' me down jus' like a
    Couple tons of bricks
    Falling into my hole
I feel my soul is alive
And there must be a reason for it
    Let go of the past
    Set yourself free
    What, is it strange?
    What is it, strange?
Feeling my subconsciousness for what it is
& now I'm feelin' better as it starts to rain
Some ppl've got things backwards from the way we've got em
Closed minds like those are what makes life so lame!!!
    So what, is it strange?
    What is it, strange?
-it goes with the 1st song I ever made on guitar, back in 1995. Yes, I'm that old. I turned 49 this past Feb. I'm young and heart tho, and that's what counts- 😉

Dark side of the moon album was made in the way that you have to start listening from the first track to the last one , because every song is conected to the next one , AND life is to short that you don't have to leave for tomorrow what you can do today because tomorrow maybe is too late.
FOR EXAMPLE tell to the people you love how much you love them , because maybe one they you passed away or them passed away and you missed the starting gun like in the song.

You may note that "Great Gig in the Sky" follows Time and the last lines of Time could describe a funeral (bells toil, faithful to their knees) and GGITS may give a voice to the 5 stages of grief (anger, denial, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance)

Great reaction, Biss. I am always amazed at the ability of some seneitive people to feel and understand the music/lyrics the instant they have heard them for the first time. I have listened to this song for most of my life and I'm still learning meaningful nuances from it. This song Time appears to me to be the generic story of the life of a person from birth through death. From the opening bells, alarms, etc signaliing conception which is quickly followed by the heartbeats of the embryo this song takes us through the aging/maturation process of the human being. The long drum lead until the initial vocals signals the growing up of the child, playing with a seemingly endless amount of time until she becomes 'self-aware' that time is not unlimited for a person and we must become productive with the time we have before it is too far behind us (and perhaps not enough left). The magnificent guitar solo represents the self aware person reaching the peak of his life and gradually fading into older age. The ending lyrics of the song "the song is over" represents the end of the person's life, after which the Breathe refrain begins as a transition into the song Great Gig in the Sky, which represents PF's interpretation of the soul's experience on its journey into the next realm after this life.
There are musical layers of this song which are powerful at conveying the narrative. One I like is the repetitive, slightlly ominous bass note that begins at the start of the song and fades out at the end, as if to signal that time in this life has both a beginning and an ending for each person and the clock is ticking, literally. Musically it is a sobering, if not anxious feeling often found at the heart of each soul harmoniously driving us to not only enjoy the experience of the now but to make the most of what we have been endowed with before time ends for us in this life.
Thank you for sharing your reactions to this song. I have learned from you new nuances to the song that I had not previously considered. This is one of the best contibutions of a reaction video for me. It is also a testament to how masterful and magnificently crafted the song Time is. Pink Floyd were an amazing group of artists who were clearly ahead of their Time.

I love that you get goose bumps at certain sounds and words - you are an empath - you sense and feel meaning in words and music - not everyone is like that. I'm 72 years old and even I get goose bumps at songs and lyrics that I have heard a hundred times before. I also like that you told us that you have ambition and you always wish there was more time to experience all the things you want and need to do in a given day. If I were a young fellow - I would dream of having a girl / woman like you in my life. I know there is no shortage of age appropriate men / guys who would vie for your attention...I love how many times you repeated the words "my family" and "working" - you would be a wonderful catch of a lucky man...IMHO. I have watched 6 or 7 of your reaction videos and I have decided to go ahead and subscribe.
