Heart's music, especially the guitar riffs were as a part of their great songs as the lyrics were for me. 70's Heart with original lineup was their best.
It's great to see you guys and all of the original Heart in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! Your place in history is forever special and made a young man grow up loving Rock & Roll music and never stop loving it! Thank you, Roger (& Mike Fisher), Steve Fossen, Michael DeRosier, Howard Leese, Ann & Nancy Wilson and also, Sue Ennis! I love you all and couldn't be happier to know that my favorite artists have been recognized for their musical artistry... Keep Your Love Alive!
Sure they had pop hits in the 80s after Roger was gone, but Heart really lost a little bit of its soul after he was gone! The Roger Fisher era will always be the legendary years of Heart!
I don't think Roger was resentful - he was busy with his own projects and various bands, but in my opinion, I think their best music was made with the original members of Heart.
In the 1970s Heart was a BAND that could blow other arena acts off the stage. That hasn't been true since Roger left. It isn't a coincidence that there hasn't been another monster riff and great classic ORIGINAL rock song since the original band fell apart. The original guys with the direction of Mike Fisher had a huge impact on keeping the Wilson sisters from meandering into their Joni Mitchell/folk type stuff. Why does Heart rely so much on material from their first 4 LPs?
The creativity in the band died when Fisher left plain and simple. Were they popular after that? No doubt. But everything since the original lineup split has been the musical equivalent of cotton candy. It's a shame because Ann's voice was and still is golden.
That's how i see it,too. Shameful that a grudge holds back the last reming years when we could have truly GREAT music from this band. Frankly, the cover bands that do the old Heart music often are more inspired than the Wilson sisters these days.
I don't feel that Roger was resentful. In fact the main reason why the Wilson sisters is allowed to continue calling the group Heart after Roger had to leave the band, was because Roger gave the Wilson sisters 51% ownership of the name and also the music prior to him having to leave. Roger still gets a nice royalty check in the mail because Heart still plays some of the songs Roger helped write. This also includes commercials and movies that uses a song like Barracuda for istance. :)
It's pretty lame that Ann Wilson said they wouldn't jam with the old guys at the R&RHOF induction. Let's not forget who wrote the hits that got them in there to begging with!
Not to mention that it was the six of them who were inducted, not the Wilson sisters' current lineup. That was a ridiculous move and only served to highlight the talent of the inducted band.
I liked it too. And I saw two dates on that tour. But the songs didn't go over well with the audience. It wasn't what people expected with Heart. Ann tried getting people to snap their fingers with "This Man is Mine." People didn't care. They changed the set quite a bit even on that tour cause things weren't going over well. By the "Passionworks" Tour the arenas they filled via their early reputation were 1/2 filled. They were done. All the early momentum stopped dead.
Heart became more commercial after Roger Fisher left meaning the left behind their own songwriting and used outside writers going for pop hits instead of that emotional gritty music. Every era of Heart is great including their big hair 80’s music but their 1970’s music with Roger Fisher is their best.
Bear Hog... When Nancy fell for the drummer after Roger was unfaithful, thats when the bullshit went down & Roger was voted out.... See what L.O.V.E. can do to a successful band??? Roger was awesome. Derossier was fuckin badass.... They ALL were. Nancy didn't mean to fall for the drummer, but when you (get cheated on), all is fair in love & war, & Roger knew it.... He could admit he Fd up...He was so sorry about it, but the DAMAGE WAS DONE.... ONE OF THE BEST GUITAR MAN OF THE 70*s, now voted out because of infidelities & attitudes getting the best of an otherwise decent guy. He admitted drugs played a huge role. Imagine THAT.... ❤🍧💕💊🍷🍹🍺💘💜💔💥💣🚧♨⚡🔥🌪☮🚫☯❎ That night in Portland, live concert, '79, emotions came to a head right on stage... Fisher lost control, destroying his guitar for all to see.... That was the end for him with Heart. Sad, sad...Him & Nancy were so in love once..... 💔
I know - I was there for all those early tours as well. Search 'SPARTY 1024 AManAndAMouse' in Google to find an article I wrote about the Magazine album. It should come up first link. You might enjoy.
While some of that is true, I still disagree. Those songs would not not be the songs we know today without the other players contributions and arrangements. Howard Leese played in that band until the 90's and he doesn't get to play at the show? That's total BS! Perhaps Roger screwed up but come on already it's almost 35 years ago!!!
After BeBe Le Strange came out their 80's albums were & always will be pure crap... Even the album "Heart" which had the smash hits "These Dreams" & "What About Love" in my opinion was pure crap... You can keep that nonsense as far as I'm concerned at that point they were doing nothing more then what the record company was telling them to do... Corporate garbage...
Yup. 80s Heart sucked ass. The Wilsons were still great musicians, but the material was embarrassing. So many shitty, soulless songs with awful lyrics slapped together by outside songwriters. It was really sad.
"Cities on Flame" got a lot of airplay, at least where I lived. I was really disappointed with it. It just wasn't a great song. Sorry. If it was so great, they'd still play it. They never came up with any world-class riffs after Roger left. That drum "pop" from Cities Burning still sounds awful to me. But bands always use that as an excuse - "our song wasn't played'. Yeah, that's cause it sucked.

Hearts best days were with this guys.

Thank you for starting my all time favorite band, Steve Fossen & Roger Fisher!
I don't think Roger was resentful - he was busy with his own projects and various bands, but in my opinion, I think their best music was made with the original members of Heart.
So well said!
heart in the 80's is so dated and uncool, althought they made more money cause it was such girly music. Heart in the 70's is legendary.

I am not in a position to confirm that..but by all accounts..that seems totally in keeping with Rog.
It's pretty lame that Ann Wilson said they wouldn't jam with the old guys at the R&RHOF induction. Let's not forget who wrote the hits that got them in there to begging with!
They did do 1 song together..and it was INCREDIBLE. Then they did another two....and it was UNDER welming.
Proving my point: Without Roger,Michael,Steve and Howard..it just isn't HEART.
Not to mention that it was the six of them who were inducted, not the Wilson sisters' current lineup. That was a ridiculous move and only served to highlight the talent of the inducted band.

Truth. Nice to know there folks out there, who know music . Really have wonder now a days.
Actually, it was mostly the Wilsons who wrote the old hits. Not taking anything away from these guys, though. Early Heart was good Heart.
Steve Fossen was always so dreamy.

I always liked Private Audition.
The best of ❤️ was the early years
do you think steve voted roger out of the group in 1979 or was it mike? 1of the 2 never voted him out then
Go here pennplumguy!!! Google Roger Fisher for Mr. Fisher projects and Heart By Heart for Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier. AC ICE, RockStar PR
I feel exactly the same way as Fisher regarding An & Nancy's songwriting.
My neighbours dad is the lead singer.

They hate the Wilson sisters haha
You got that right... Those 80's love ballads they did were pure crap...
Roger, Why did you not mention Howard?
While some of that is true, I still disagree. Those songs would not not be the songs we know today without the other players contributions and arrangements. Jupiters Darling blows all that crap from the 80's away...
I bought it,too...but as good as it was...I missed the guys in the band, and what they would have brought to it.
Whatever you're on, double the dose. Poor thing.
Steve used to wear man bras
He did not.
Haha. The infamous “boob” shirt. Not a bra but I know what you mean. Seriously, did he loose a bet??!

Yet those were tolerable compared to ' All I Wanna Do'. That song makes me retch.
@@synthonaplinth5980 makes ann wretch too. she talked about it recently.
@@damnyankeefl Yes, I remember seeing that. It was written by Mutt Lange, what a surprise. Ann called it 'creepy'.
@@synthonaplinth5980 i'm proud to say it creeped me out then when I was a much younger man
maybe true...but those 80's hits were about 90% cowritten. so who cares
Your wrong.

Sucked ass indeed
Im glad they’re in, but RRHoF is a total joke.
