      It’s just logical though the more years you work somewhere the higher up the ranks you rise. On a regional level you get an advantage by consistently Re-electing a representative because then your rep has seniority in congress and can run committees and therefore direct more benefits to your local community. So we have a dilemma because it would be better for all of us if we changed politicians more often and tried younger people, but if your area does that then you are stuck with a young rep who has less power in D.C

      Too bad they didn’t tackle the issues that come with removing the income cap. One has to compare pros and cons. Not to mention the fact that SS isn’t a retirement plan and we need to stop treating it as such.

    • @jimmym3352
      @jimmym3352 Год назад +7

      They'll have to raise taxes on it, it's not unsolvable. Politically it may seem so, but it can be done. And yes they can be progressive taxes (rich paying more). No one wants to be the one to vote to raise taxes, that's why they are kicking the can down the road. Problem is, the longer they wait, the more they'll have to raise payroll deductions (essentially taxes).

    • @thechieflegofanatic9194
      @thechieflegofanatic9194 Год назад +1

      @@jimmym3352 They can also raise the age to receive benefits. Again, it’s not a retirement program and shouldn’t be used as such. As I said, increasing taxes comes with its own downsides. Namely that how much one receives is based on how much they pay in to the system. So, increasing the taxes also leads to an increase in benefits paid. The cap was put in to place because those making over 165k aren’t likely to need SS, so it’s also a bit of a cap on benefits. As was pointed out on the show, the ones living the longest and and receiving benefits the longest are also those who are wealthier. So, we increase the taxes on the wealthy, but also significantly increase benefits paid out. Other options: increasing the actual tax rate, increasing the age to receive benefits, phasing out the system for younger workers, allowing the trust fund to invest in riskier, higher paying assets, etc.

    On the topic of Michelangelo's David and having a small dick, there's a reason for that. Statues in ancient times were sculpted with great men having a small penis because it reflected a popular moral sentiment that a man's greatness should have nothing to do with his sexual prowess.
    Also I just realized, this is exactly The Simpsons episode where all the conservative mothers get hysterical about children seeing Michelangelo's David. Helen Lovejoy: "It portrays parts of the human anatomy, which, practical though they may be, are EVIL!" 😂

    • @frostfree7
      @frostfree7 Год назад +6

      The reason why the statue looks odd proportionally is because it was never meant to be seen head-on. When you see the statue in person you are looking up at it, which changes the perspective and proportions. Michaelangelo intended it that way.
