i have a 992 Sport Classic. And of course I've had the same thoughts in my Head. Let me tell you why I got it. For me it's a Car I will drive not that frequently. So whenever i go in my garage and take the SC for a spin it's something special. The moment you enter your garage and see this beauty, it's way more emotional that seeing a TurboS. Both cars are crazy fast und 99% of the time you don't need the Power. Had a GTS as a daily and it's perfect with its 480HP. I'm not a typical Porsche collector but the Sport Classic should stay as long as it gets. When you look at heritage Porsche models you never go: wow the power of a 993 4s is better than the power of 993 base model. You feel connected to the car because of the beauty it still has. That is why I think the 992 Sport Classic is just perfect. Why make it crazy fast, loud, or hard on the Road. I hope that in 20/30 Years I still go into my garage and see this beauty sitting there, ready to drive, giving me that emotion of driving something special. Because at the end that's what the SC is all about. My GT3 drives way better and I love to take it on the track. But taking the SC out is something else and hard to describe.
The Turbo S a very special car. An incredible piece of machinary. So clinical and composed. 4 wheel drive. Crazy speed but for me i think its got to be the Sport Classic. The Recipe of big power, real wheel drive and manual drive with the driving dynamics of Porsche . I think its special. Very cool. On a Sunday id take out the Sport Classic out
Tried to get a Sport Classic, not that easy. Allocations taken. I love a manual, enjoy rear wheel drive and LOVE the duck tail. Turbo S is great, but wow, just hang on....!!!
I would recommend a 991.2 GT3 Touring. Great car, manual gearbox and with a few tweaks it can be very rewarding. We tested one on the channel last year. Take a look at the review.
Cool video Mark. The Sport Classic looks are epic but would I be correct to think if you wanted a daily 992 911, a GTS would be the one to go for? Along with a huge saving in cash!! I'd love a ride in a 'special' 911, like the GT3, Turbo S or a GT4 just to experience it! 👍
The 992 GTS is very similar to the Sport Classic in many ways but of course not a limited edition car and it only has 480ps. That said, it is a lot cheaper and would make a great daily driver.
Nice! A 911 is a hallmark vehicle and owning one is a relatively exclusive club that few can afford and enjoy. My present 911 is a 991.1 C4S, black in colour with a ducktail spoiler, and I think it looks great. The NA flat six engine is an incredible symphony that sounds like few others. The Turbo S is an incredible benchmark supercar that will destroy most vehicles in most performance metrics. Love the GTS as well!!
Well I think the engineers in Porsche has done a good job trying to replicate the feel and the nostalgia of a 911 of the 70s or early 80s. If you have experience a 930 turbo, the Sport Classic is very akin to that. The power band, the turbo lag and also how the rear wheel drive these ignite the originity of how a Sport Classic should feel. Don’t forget the Sport Clasic is to commemorate the Heritage Edition. A history of Porsche 911 of yesteryear.
Great video, as ever. Isn’t the point of the Heritage 911 to hark back, but with modern tech? An older feel, a tad slower and less responsive - giving you the impression you’re driving an older vehicle, but to modern standards.
I am a big fan of Porsche and have been a customer for over 20 years. I love the look of the 992 Sport Classic, but I would prefer it to have at least as much power as a 992 Turbo S if I am paying an extra £50,000 for one!!
Love the wheels the colour & the details on the sports classic it's absolutely wonderful imo! Great video & keep them coming as its a wonderful break from the daily bs getting plaid on us through the msm! ❤
I can only agree with you. I don't want to pay 50 000 £ extra with 100 bhp less, only RWD and a manual gear box. For the classic edition, the owner can just hope that the limted number of car will influence in the following years the price of their "collector" ????
Love the turbo s and the sport classic wouldnt change that. To me its another cash grab limited edition. Loved the vid though and its all around my area
It seems to me that the Sport Classic is more an upgraded Carrera with its 3.0 engine and the seven speed manual, than a Turbo S 3.8 with reduced power, deleted awd. Being a limited edition is the appeal.
It is the same 3.75 litre engine as the turbo. As MF said the power cut is probably due to the 7 speed manual. If someone dares to put a upgraded clutch in it they could probably go up to turbo s hp numbers with just a remap
The mother of all the 911 modern classics is the 2013 911-50… A limited production of 1963 CS with a wide body, and plenty of classic design elements… An amazing car, and for some reason underrated by automotive experts… I am expecting this car value to skyrocket, time will tell 🤷🏼♂️
Porsche , for quite some time already , is a master in launching limited edition models for astronomic prices. And Fans around the globe are paying any price. I do remember the days mid of the 90‘s when Porsche had its crisis and the prices were reasonable. They even had spares in their workshop at the factory where they sold them for less than the regular price. The days are long ago and Porsche will carry on bringing new limited edition cars on the market. Not for me. 😝😝😝
Some of the models that come from the GT division are excellent, but I agree, the Sport Classic is not one of them. I would prefer the Sport Classic to have 650ps and a PDK gearbox with RWD. That would be exciting for me.
I don't think Turbo S buyers even care about manual. So a slightly slower Turbo S that looks a bit different but costs that much more? If you are a Turbo fan, probably not worth it. Maybe if you are a collector.
In short in my opinion and experience - No. I really struggled to find the extra difference for the £50k above the already excellent Turbo S. In fact when you drive a very base 992 Carrera and then a loaded 992 GTS where the difference was also £40/50k including extras it’s also very hard to feel and accept it’s that much more money and that’s because the base car is very very good already. Just my experience
If it was my money, I will buy the turbo-s and with the 50k that I save, I would buy a used 991 50th anniversary model. Two itches scratched… a powerful car and a collectible car
if it about exclusivity the then the Sports Classic....if it is about performance, 992 Turbo S. Honestly our a Duck tail away from the SC look. For me, I prefer the looks of the 997!!! His 4.0 is the real winner!!!
Nothing will ever be as pure as the 997 GT3 RS models. However, if you are looking to buy a modern Porsche then the 992 Turbo S ticks a lot of boxes. I personally prefer the 718 GT4 and GT4 RS.
I think that Porsche should modify the 911, so that it has a trunk (wink). To do this you would have to eliminate the rear seats and move the engine forward in a position in front of or on the rear axle. All in order to gain comfort and be able to transport more luggage (wink again).
The sport classic is all about the kings new clothes. Buy a nicely equipped Carrera S manual, have most of the power and save hundreds of thousands. It’s just Porsche taking the piss.
It's a bit too detuned. A GTS in manual is much faster. My 930 with Kokeln turbo, 1 bar spring, cat delete, and some weight savings will do 4 even with the super long throw. You'd think they could do better with this.
The steering on the 992 Sport Classic felt a little less sharp as you would expect. The 992 Turbo S had 1400 miles and was run in. The 992 Sport Classic was fairly new so hard to push the engine and know how it sounded.
The list price for the 992 Turbo S is £168,900. I got the information from the Porsche website: www.porsche.com/uk/models/911/911-turbo-models/911-turbo-s/
I had 90 % of the fun in my 2004 Mini Cooper S...MC40 Edition....for 25K...the whole Porsche Price Thing is Ludicrous.... have fun with your millionaire toys...
I would have preferred the Sport Classic to be a PDK gearbox with 650ps and RWD. That would have been fun. I guess we need to wait for the 992 GT2 RS for that.
SC will hold its value and be worth approx double it’s list price (they are already commanding resale price. The TurboS is already sinking like a stone price wise A very strange concept this video. It’s like comparing brass to gold.
The Turbo S is in many way the flagship model from Porsche and costs £168,900. The 992 Sport Classic is also a Turbo Charged engine and the list price is £215,000. So on paper the Sport Classic should offer the customer more fun for more money! However in reality it doesn't. The premium really is down to the fact that it is a limited edition model. By the way, the cheapest 992 Turbo S for sale in the UK right now is a 2020 model for £167,500. Still around list price 3 years after it was launched. So you are incorrect about prices sinking!
No car in the world is worth 50k more than turbo s .Because there is no better car than that. But this is rare ,it will be limited production car . CARS SIMILIAR ( NOT EXACTLY) TO THAT FROM PREVIOUS 2 GENERATION NOW ARE DOUBLE THE PRICE ON THE MARKET. I think the Sport Classic looks very special but if I had a £215000 budget I would buy a GT4 RS or a 991.2 GT3 Touring.
911 Sport Classic is my favourite Porsche
You won’t get one ☝️
Why
Beautiful car but most/all never get driven, it’s a shame. I drive my 22 manual Carrera S cab daily. Gonna put a million miles on it.
That pause and sigh towards the end said it all!
I needed to compose my thoughts :)
I don't understand why nobody is talking about the Turbo. Only Turbo without a S. Nobody reviews it. Much cheaper and nearly as fast. Best value.
Manual, enough said. I was bored with my 991TT within a month, traded in for a 997 GT3 and now a 981 Spyder, never missed the Turbo

any 992 911 would be an brilliant daily driver imo, u don't need power on the streets, and u still got the feeling of being in a 911
I'm fortunate enough to own 3 Porches. That duck tail really doesn't do it for me. Manual gear box GTS. PDK Turbo S.
Nothing wrong with a 992 GTS.
Nice! A 911 is a hallmark vehicle and owning one is a relatively exclusive club that few can afford and enjoy. Love the concept of the Sport Classic but it’s too much money. Ultimately it’s Turbo based rather than Turbo S so price differential even greater.
I also think it is too much money, but they've sold out.
5:02 The Lamborghini Artura 😅
Caught that too.
Lol 😂
My bad!
@@888mf4 no worries, it happens to the best of us

I once saw a 992 turbo s just like the one in this video parked up. Pictures or videos don't do justice to the way it looks.
I agree. They do look menacing on the road though.
Excellent video comparison! Thank you for making this one.👍
Thanks for the positive feedback!
If they offered a turbo s with the duck tail spoiler, it'd be the bees knees
I would absolutely pick this over all other current 911’s. One for looks and because I don’t need the fastest car to make me feel good or have fun.
But would you pay £350,000 for one if you couldn't buy it new from Porsche??
Good to have you back. It has been too long 😀
Thank you!!
Not for me. I'd take the 992 Turbo S, even if the price differential were zero. Love the PDK, and 650 horses...
The Turbo s is much quicker than you say. 2.2- 2.4 sec 0-60 in many tests.
Great video, as ever. Isn’t the point of the Heritage 911 to hark back, but with modern tech? An older feel, a tad slower and less responsive - giving you the impression you’re driving an older vehicle, but to modern standards.

The ultimate sport classic ethos car would be: 992 touring manual with the ducktail from this one and 997 folding bucket seats and rear seats
I would go for the Turbo S definitely 🫠

I love the design.
The sport classic should be 50k less. Not 50k more. I would never choose this car over a turbo s
Well, it has less power and only RWD so theoretically it should be less. However it is a limited edition model, so will always carry a premium.
