    This is my go to trail in Joaquin Miller, for running. I always keep an ear out for you guys as i'm running up the trail, I try to hop behind a tree if I hear a bike coming just in case. Looks way different from your perspective, very cool video.

    Dude honestly the Hero 5's sound isnt that bad. Like I honestly dont care much about the comments. I like hearing comments but at the end I care much more about the video quality, your downhill skills make up for the sound quality. You are plowing that trail like no other!

      Thanks Parallax, I really appreciate it. I've ridden this trail hundreds of times and it's one I definitely feel comfortable pushing 10/10

    I'm always amazed at how quickly the 4.5 gains speed.

    Man road out there today and those new little jumps really make Cinderella more fun. Wonder if they will stay

    I sub to you for that great ride and great footage with the Karma grip. The sound of the H5 in Karma it's not the best but is OK. Were you using wind mode or stereo?

    Stupidly, when I lived in Oakland, I used to hike up and down that trail before once having to jump into the bushes to keep from being killed by a bicyclist. No horn, bell, or even a “bike coming” shout-out. That trail needs to have warning signs at the top and the bottom, maybe even separate hours set for only hikers or bikers? But being back here in Montréal I desperately miss hiking every trail in Joaquin Miller and Redwood Park.

    Hi there Savant! I'm a total MTB noob and the rock garden at 00:58 always stops me cold. Any tips on negotiating that section/finding a better line? Thanks and see you out there!

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  5 лет назад +3

      The common line is to start on the right and cut to the left side. Believe it or not this section gets easier the faster you go.

    love it. Short segment, but fast paced with some good commentary. Great format, would watch again. Also loved the misty moutian look.

    Great vid, rode it today. As for why parts of the trails are wet, its from natural springs. This year is worse then others because of all the rain we had, the water table is pretty high, so expect to see some damp parts of the trail for a while!

    Does this trail have a section that forks? I rode it for the first time and didn’t end up at the switchbacks. I’m also a newby mountain biker so I took a spill on one of the drops. GoPro videos just don’t show how steep trails really are. 😂😂

      Yes it does towards the end. The GoPro effect is real!

    Camera looks a lot more clear for some reason. Change anything up? Always impressed by how capable the 4.5 is. Just took mine up to the china peak enduro

      Thanks Kevin. The overcast conditions were ideal because it removes hard shadows. And despite being shot in 1080p, it was exported in 4k to "trick" youtube into using a higher bit rate. Thanks for noticing!

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  7 лет назад

      And yes! The 4.5 is extremely capable!

      MTB Savant The overcast is a RUclipsrs dream come true! Didn't know you could do that trick. I switched to recording in 4K awhile back, but you have to carry extra memory cards on long rides.

      @mtbsavant5414  7 лет назад +2

      IMO shooting in 4k doesn't offer much bang for the buck. Hard on the gopro and your computer not to mention my patience.
