So I just want to commend you for all the work, time, blood, sweat, tears it must have taken you to complete this build. Truly excellent work, and really nice job editing the videos also. I've read earlier comments that seem to berate you for spending all the time and money on the KLX when you could just go buy another bike and have all that power right out of the box. Where's the fun in that?? The journey is half the fun - or it should be. I simply believe too many folks these days are unwilling to educate themselves the way you have here. Again, fantastic work. Cheers man.
I appreciate the kind words, it means a lot! I could've bought a bike from the factory with all the power, but that would have been the easy way out. I figured either way I would spend the money. So, I might as well build it myself. Building something is equally as fun, if not more fun than using what you've built.
Excellent work. Looking forward to your future mods. The 250 version of the 450 though the same size as your current machine the weight makes a difference. 230 lbs vs 300 lbs, BIG difference. That is a whole new world of power to weight ratio. Cheers.
Thanks! I look forward to modding once again. I mentioned that I wanted to cut the weight down of the KLX while recording but cut it out because the video was dragging on. Getting the 450 allows for two totally different riding experiences. On the other hand, the 250X and my KLX would be a bit too similar for me.
@@jhmotorclub6916 Have you watched outdoor motocross recently? On some tracks 250's qualified faster than the 450's. Keep those mods coming. Hope the healing is fast.
Dynojet makes an Autotune box, they claim it works with all PC5s, except the KLX250. Dynojet also sells a Wideband box, either one will help you straighten the fuel ratio curve.
@@znper Exactly! It was the Autotune... The one Dynojet blamed it on the 2012 CARB law, but I don't get why the KKX250 would be singled out. Originally you were supposed to be able to download and upload different maps, but there's only one, stock KLX250 baseline.
I'll have to check those out. Not sure of the compatibility with the PCFC. It seems that the KLX is neglected from Dynojet like you said, even though other similar bikes still maintain their products.
Hey Jeff if you want more power you need to call Jerry Leighton at Four Stroke Works Hesperia CA he used to wrench on Larry Roeselers klx 365 race and later klx 390 they made over 42hp to 45hp according to the mzgazines in the day. I also have a klx 351 with the same mods except pumper carb not efi. But hopefully he can help you. Thanks for all the great info on your channel
I appreciate it! I'll have to give him a call. That sounds interesting, I really just want to go balls to the wall with the KLX. I heard he is really the only person left to distribute a stroker crank.
@@jhmotorclub6916 First step would be to verify that the DJ EFI Euro tune works on the new EFI's. I expect it to work perfectly as it makes sense that the new bikes are simply using the same hardware as the older Euro bikes. In fact, one wonders if the DJ PCV for the Euro bikes will work on the new bikes ? You can do this test if you use/put your current fueling map on the PCV tune before loading it into your PCFC..
@@williamhughes7212 Was definitely going to test that out. Like I said in the video, I mainly just need to budget for the next steps in testing out different hardware. I'm thinking that there will be a positive outcome in that test.
OH WHAT THE %$^&^$ ! The detune/soft limiter is still killing the top end ? Obviously, something horrible is still happening at 8k rpm.. Since it isn't fueling, it has to be ignition or mechanical.. The PCFC is supposed to be able to accept and use PCV mappings/tunes. And I assume the KLX250S PCV does have the ability to tune the ignition - the ones I've used on other bikes do - so perhaps a known high performance PCV tune( from/for the older euro EFI's) but input the fueling table values from your dyno tuned fuel map with tweaks to keep AFR below 13:1? Off the top of my head, that seems to be a solution.. You getting good with WinPep yet ? How bout those run files - did you get them ?

So glad I found your channel. Not to many comprehensive videos on newer klx250 models. Gonna get the fmf q4 w/megabomb header because of you lol
I appreciate the kind comments, thank you. I'm excited for you! There's nothing like getting the first start on a new exhaust!

That's strange, I thought the AT-200 or AT-300 are universal units. I'm waiting for one to combine with the PCV.

Peak hp will be at the fat side of peak EGT.
How did your sub throttle removal affect your fuel map? Did you tune it afterwards?
Will your 351 will need more frequent valve checks than the stock 300?
No, it does not
17-023-502 is a DJ KLX250S (Euro) tune for a performance slipon + lidless airbox... Maybe a good base tune ?
That does seem like it could be a good base tune. One of my friends has a PCFC with an FMF. I'll have to see if he wants to load the tune on there.

How much does a dyno test cost?
It costs between $60 and $120. The KLX ones have been about $60 just to get a few runs. The KX was about $130 because they had to swap tires too.
now just to work on appearance mods
