  • In this video I run you through the two different 12v systems that I am running in my Patrol.
    I have a under bonnet DCS System and a ATG setup in the rear of the Patrol. Both these systems have their pros and cons, and I run through a few of these and my thoughts on both systems.
    350ah of lithium is a lot of power. There are a few different reasons why I have chosen to go down this route which I explain in this video.
    If you have any questions regarding anything in this video please drop a comment below and I will answer best I can.
    Enjoy
    Kane

    Great Video, Well Done on the informative nature. Its so hard to work out what systems to put in a new car build. I love the idea of the rear battery placement. beats it being under the floor in the spare tools well.

      Thanks Michael 👍🏽 yeah I find it a nice convenient spot. And I also wanted the chargers and inverter easily accessible incase we need to trouble shoot anything.

    Unfortunately there is no magic DCS can do to make the batteries last under bonnet without as special insulated case and some cool air ducting. Data sheets from the actual Lifepo4 manufacturers state maximum of 55 degrees.

    Should do a capacity test

      I will have to do that. Probably going to swap the dcs ones out

      @TravelExplore4x4 yeh me too.. what are your reasons for swapping out? I feel I got lied too, and my capacity has dropped below the threshold after 12 months. So now I'm looking back to wet cell and 48v setup in the rear.

    Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, great information. Just one question, have you disconnected the shunt on the main battery to get full charge or have you left it alone?

      I haven’t disconnected the shunt. I have just left it as it is.

      Hey bud, thanks heaps.
      I have actually got a mate to make some aluminium ones up for me for the back. I still have to get a few more done. I will be putting some more videos up soon with more of the build. I
      I went aluminium as I wanted to keep the weight out of it as we will be towing a caravan around

    Awesome stuff and something to really think about when it comes to setup. We're yet to receive our Y62 as it's on order but we're looking into setting it up for offgrid with lithium in the back. What is your fridge sitting on and what is that side draw on the passenger side of your fridge and what are your thoughts on it? Would you change anything? Cheers🤙

      @TravelExplore4x4  Год назад +1

      Thanks mate. It’s definitely good having a lot of battery power with all the gadgets we all have nowadays.
      I have made up some aluminium drawers and pull out table on that side. That’s what the fridge is sitting on. I’m also going to be making up a long drawer for the spot on the right now, only level to where the fridge sits. We will be travelling around with our dog, so I have to leave room for her there.

    where did you see the giandel inverters getting good wraps? couldn't find much. also i don't see that 12V 2000/4000W model on their website. There's a 24v one and then two different 12V 2200/4400 models.. black one and silver one.

      I got mine from access 12 volt warehouse. Which it lithium battery wholesalers.
      I had asked on the 12v pages on Facebook to get peoples thoughts. For the money you pay they are a great buy. And mine has performed perfectly so far. And I have run aircon on the caravan, air fryer, induction cook top, big coffee machine etc.

    Great vid mate, in reference to the 200a set up, what size cable did you run from alternator? What path did you run it? also do you see the dc2dc put in full rated amps?

    • @TravelExplore4x4
      @TravelExplore4x4  2 года назад +1

      Hey Trevor
      I’m pretty sure it was 4 b&s from the front battery to the dcdc charger. I ran it along the drivers side in the set up the doors under the trimming.
      Yep was putting in around 26amp when I checked but the battery was already close to being topped up so the charging had gone down a bit. I had been thinking to possibly put a fan on the back side of the box right behind the dcdc charger to keep it as cool as possible to get the maximum charge from it

    Is your anderson plug for the caravan connected direct to the battery or via a VSR / ignition relay?

      It’s connected directly to the battery. I use that Anderson plug for a few different thing other than the caravan.
