Well, we've got to give Archie Bunker credit for one thing- he's not going to allow some teen casanova spinter both of his nieces. Eric should be ashamed of himself for playing both Stephanie and Billie in their uncle's house!!!
Eric (Paul King) must have had a great publicist. There were a couple years in 1981 and 82 he was hyped in the teen bopper magazines as the next big thing. But he never really did anything. A couple appearances on Archie's Place as Danielle Brisebois' love interest were as big as his career ever got.
@@jackmcgee5331 True. Did you know his sister is Dawn Lynn (Dody from "My Three Sons"). The two of them appeared together in a made for television horror flick about a group of murderous kids who escape from an insane asylum.
@@mcgannahanskyjellyfetti6854 Edith was HOT...sizzle!!! I would have camped for a week in her bathroom just to smell an unintentional fart. WOW. I am all worked up now. Damn, boy.
Interesting things about this episode: Archie loves Stephanie so much that he says he's not taking the blame for this. Stephanie instantly believes Archie when he says he did not throw the boy out and that Billie kissed him. Stephanie never doubts Archie.
Stephanie never doubts Archie? She didn't believe him when Arch repeatedly told her it was loser Eric, not Billie that was the aggressor. And when Stephie says that she was never gonna speak to Archie again and stomps off, that doesn't reflect a lot of trust either.
Eric's behavior will probably continue as he goes after one girl after another. Eventually, Stephanie will see clearly where Eric is at. At that time, Stephanie will have no one to blame.
For all of Archie and Edith's liberal and pontificating relatives, who also wasted little time criticizing him, it was Archie who took it upon himself to support and protect these two girls.
"Maybe somebody like our beloved secretary of state Alexander Scotch....eh....Rye....Haig." 🤣😂 For those of you who don't know, the joke likes in the fact that Haig and Haig scotch used to be a very famous whiskey back in the day. And, at the time, the secretary of state was Alexander Haig.
Why watch television when you got a soap opera playing live in your own home. I thought I recognized Billie's voice. That is the same gal that played Jillie Papalino in one episode in Barney Miller and the short lived spin-off Fish. What is with the *illie character names? Did she play a character named Dillie, Fillie and Lillie?
At this point they were really struggling to come up with ideas on how to use lovely Danielle Brisebois. The age difference made incorporating her in an episode with Denise Miller difficult like here when the idea of 18 year old Billie going after a boy in Stephanie's 8th grade class was unrealistic at best and maybe even a little creepy. Especially when Billie was already with Gary Rabinowitz.
This episode sadly demonstrates how Stephanie changed as the series progressed. In the first 2 seasons she was so independent, ambitious and motivated that Uncle Arch used to call her 'little "Joan" Fonda'. That's why It seemed so out of character the same girl that was Girls Club, choir, entered photo contests and tried out for baseball would just totally lose control over some boy like she did here in season 3.
Unlikely. I think Stephanie was just infatuated with the cool boy not wanting to admit he was a loser that goes for one girl after another. Unfortunately it took this incident for Stephanie to see she had no one to blame but herself. The last couple seasons they turned Stephanie from a poised, confident young woman into a hot mess that didn't have very good taste in men. There was this loser. The next season was Danny Ferguson and that Date was a disaster and Phil Rogers who got her into smoking pot.
What is this show? A later episode of Archie Bunker's Place? Another series after the first two. All I see is VTS 01 2. I assume that is Season 1, episode 2. But what's the name of the show? Steph has grown into a fine little woman. And who is Billie? She's a hottie, too! I recognize her from that movie; Sooner or Later. But I don't know who she is. What's her real name?
I actually liked Archie Bunker's Place. In contrast to All In The Family, it got away from the political and social commentary, and instead, focused upon human interest situations. After Edith died, we saw Archie struggling to make a go of it on his own, as well as the trials and tribulations of his two nieces whom he was determined to keep safe.
I noticed that by 1976-77 season 6:06 on All In the Family they started filming the show very similar to the CBS soaps, the moving camera and close ups. And in ABP, they had the same soap lighting more on the darker tone, kinda like how they used to film The Young and The Restless. At one time H. Wesley Kenney was a director on the show and he also worked on Y&R.
I am not sure whether this was deliberate, especially after the death of Edith. But you will notice that there was now a background laugh track instead of a live audience.
I thought Danielle did a good job at first and what she lacked in ability she was able to make up for by being super cute and sexy for an actress her age. But I assume acting is like most things, you need to do it frequently to stay in a good groove. As she got older on ABP especially when she became a teenager and her part lessened, she didn't seem as sharp as when she was on almost every episode and her limitations as an actress kinda showed. Really disappointing her ABP run would end like that.
A few years later when she jumped the shark she looked like a boy, but Danielle Brisebois was still gorgeous here. In fact I thought she was super sexy pouting in this episode.
Poor Archie. Had to go through this once already now it's in stereo.
He got excited and busted his leash lol

Those types of pushes rarely last. Look at Leif Garrett from the 70s.

His overactive hormones led him to desire an "older" woman.

Archie really tried his best here.

One word to explain the change: hormones.

Probably why this only lasted another year after this.
This show was in the shadow of All in the Family and it suffered because the characters weren't as interesting and the stories as well.
Stephanie, is from Edith's side.
