Thank God I didnt listen to others or got distracted by the higher bhp numbers other bikes were offering. Got this one and absolutely love every bit of it. Definitely a hidden Gem. This bike has got everything to adapt to an individual preference. Some day you can just ride like a comfy cruiser and other days it becomes a beast when asked for. Power, quality, style, safety its has got all. Very very sophisticated. Not for everyone. Feel special to own this.

I am very happy that you tested this bike, because I've watched all your S 1000 R videos since the beginning of the year. I was always faced with the choice between the BMW and the Honda. I test rode the BMW three times because I wanted to convince myself that it's the bike I should buy. But the first time I test drove the Honda I knew...this is it! I bought the Honda Black Edition in August and I don't regret a single day. It's pure bliss and it delivers enough power... that's all you need on the road.
Your videos are great, thank you very much. But let's be honest, you're not satisfied with the S 1000 R either.
Cheers, greetings from Berlin, Germany........ride safe!

Here’s a 101 how to for the basics of achieving a quicker handling bike. Always make small adjustments and NEVER change more than ONE THING at a time. Regimented testing is your friend, people.
Step one - Set your sag/preload to recommended spec
Step two - If quicker handling is still desired, decrease sag by 3mm.
Step three - Still not quick enough? Decrease sag 2mm more or/and raise forks in triple clamps in 2mm increments.

Very few naked bikes offer a sporty front end feel. It's just the dynamics of sitting upright. Want to fix this "issue" with the wonderful CB100R? Just install a lower handlebar to get more weight over the front wheel and slap on a lighter slip-on.

Glad to see you review this, I bought a black edition last year and originally wanted a s1000r but it was a little out of the budget so I went to look at this, in person it’s even nicer I think it’s the nicest looking naked for sale. I swapped the rear shock for an ohlins and I find it handles pretty good now, I took it to the track 5 times this summer and it performed better than I expected. It is a really good city bike. A real bummer though is that it apparently uses 2 ecu’ s and from 2021 and newer there are no flashes or tunes available, so I can’t put a header on it, also can’t change the gearing without getting errors on the dash. Overall it’s a good bike, not perfect but it is still fast enough, wheelies good and it looks good, you can pull up for events on this and not look like a boy racer.

Great review. This is not a hypernaked! It's the follower of the 750 Four and the Bol d'or. Old school designed, simple lines, without these aggressive fairing parts of modern naked bikes. The power is more than enough and their players and friends are the BMW nineT or the Kawasaki Z 900 RS or maybe a Thruxton. I reduced mine a little bit, single seater, removing the rear footpegs, license plate up to get rid of this massive part at the rear wheel, smaller exhaust for a better look to the rear wheel, precision levers and mirrors (german made, ABM and motogadget) and it is the perfect bike for me. Default at rear suspension is weak, must be adjusted to drivers weight carefully, if you have 200 lbs you must go to full hard, in other way it feels weak. Frontend the same. The engine is easy to control, you got time to choose your style, but from 7000 revs up it is serious and it is better to have two strong hands at the bar. The CB 1000 R is not for racing, just for enjoying it! :-)

I was surprised you said its somewhat better than the BMW. I must say after one 4 months of riding it I feel its too much for me. Im still quite young and I like to use the power, but it just almost feels like limitless. You really almost cant use it all on the street and when you do, you risk your life. But its a beautiful bike, heads are turning and feels great to ride it. However I would only recommend it to a really experienced rider. I went from KTM Duke 390 straight to this and maybe it was a too big leap. Anyways, I think the price is justifeable. Great video!

I own a 2019, the throttle is lovely imo, not snatchy at all. That's the problem with RUclips "reviews". It's so personal, you really have to go out and ride the bike yourself. The one thing I did have to adjust to my personal taste was the suspension front and rear. I found it a tad too bouncy, probs porrly set up by precious owner, but a few turns on the adjustable suspension and it works beautifully for me now. Also I would not call it a muscle bike at all. It's fast but handles really well and at 213 kgs it's light. The honda finish is lovely, it screams quality, which is so reassuring. It's really comfy as well, I can spend 2 hours before I start to have to move around the seat. Finally I added a aftermarket can, and it sounds so nice, it really added to my enjoyment of the bike. Overall I love it.

I've got a 19 which is almost identical aside from cosmetic and some changes to the electronics. Just wondering if you adjusted any suspension settings on the bike or did you just ride it the way it shipped from the factory. Just a little preload on the back shock will sharpen the handling. These bikes come setup for a very lightweight rider from the factory. Also an aftermarket exhaust and a tune really wakes these bikes up.

Thanks for the review! I own a ''22 Black Edition and love it. I've swapped my bike with many friends over the summer for some rides and they are having nothing but praise. I wish the internet wasn't so bias. But it's also in a class of it's own, so wont make the list for hyper naked as it's "under powered" and it's closest competitor the MT09 is cheaper with less hp, but will keep up in a straight line. Nonetheless I'll continue to spread the word =).

You are an honest reviewer! FWIW several other reviewers on RUclips pointed out the same things, especially regarding the suspension. Have you ridden the 2023 Kawasaki Z900rs? If so how does the suspension & throttle response compare; the SE iteration is IMHO too much dough for not enough go. I was smitten by the Honda fit & finish but after hearing the same cons three times from three different reviewers they are for me deal breakers; I got the message; again kudos to you for your integrity; shops that lend out bikes for review really are expecting free advertising. If you are too critical they won’t lend again. PS No surprise about Triumph reliability issues. My dad taught motorcycle maneuvers for the British in North Africa and rode Norton, BSA; said they were all leakers; wake up in the morning oil under the bike. 10 yrs ago in a forum someone chastised me saying things are different now; same week a reviewer tested a new Triumph, put his key in the ignition & the clock reset itself! 😂 Some things sad to say, don’t change.

I'm thinking aboot getting that motorsickle for my next bike. I've been a Honda rider for the past three years with two bikes owned meow. Not by choice though, only by affordability since I bought it used twice. I first started oof with a 150cc KYMCO scoot scoot, and than I jumped on to a used cb300f, and than a cb500f what I got meow. I want something a little more power to carry my fat 380Ib self. My dream bike was the MT09, or a MT10 Yamaha. I feel like I probably going to end up with Honda the rest of the way. I like the looks of Neo Cafe style naked sport motorsickles.

I've got the 2020 version, bought brand new and can honestly say I've enjoyed it. Problem now is I have a failed ECU 1 week out of warranty which they've rejected to honor replacement of. £1k bill, cheers Honda. Second issue I had was a failed wheel bearing whilst 400 miles away from home. Again, another £1k to get home. Now need a new front wheel, another £500+. Not covered under warranty either as it just fell outside of warranty. I will never buy a Honda again due to these issues not being insignificant and being left with a £2k bill for parts and labour for things that shouldn't really fail. My two cents!

@Thomas Joseph was my first bike too after passing so it's certainly left a sour taste in my mouth with Honda in general. I've also begun to accept that motorcycles all have their own problems, I own an Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory currently and that's got issues itself (only 6 months old when I bought it). Seems to be the norm as a lot of my friends have had an array of other issues on different brands of motorcycles.
