The Asio is great for me. I have the mid and heavy-weight. The mid with a good base layer and their vest, I’m good down to the upper 20’s. I can’t use the heavy-weight unless it’s under 20, or else I sweat bad. I went with it over Sitka because it’s half the price, and has a better warranty.
I’m a First Lite guy but my brother wears Asio and he loves their stuff. I’m becoming a fan as well. They honor their warranties and have great customer service. Excellent review!!
@@theeverydaybowhunter now that temps are finally falling here in Pineland I was planning to run the vest as an outer layer over the hoodie like you showed. Like the freedom of movement for the arms while keeping the core warm.
I really like the Asio camo pattern. I have a full fanatic setup now. But I might give Asio a try for next year. I would really like to hear about a cold weather comparison between the two complete sets. I have fanatic hoody, merino 330 half zip, ambient 200 jacket, and the fanatic jacket. Merino 330 leggings, midi pants, fanatic bib also the merino gloves and the merino beanie. I have the incinerator mits but I have not had to use them because the kangaroo pocket on the fanatic jacket is so insanely warm.
I wouldn’t bother. I had the entire Asio mid and late season setup and sold it all to get the fanatic. The Asio stuff is very nice for the money but not in the same league as Sitka IMO. I do love the camo pattern though.
@@justingillentine2015 I haven't tested the Fanatic against the Asio Late Season stuff yet, but plan on doing it soon. I'm interested to see the comparison myself. That being said, I have tested a lot of Sitka Gear and this is a comparable item to the Sitka Jetstream since it is a midlayer. I think it's better and definitely warmer than the Jetstream. I 100% know the Asio Sherpa-lined Jacket is warmer than the Sitka Stratus. I tested that extensively last season (alongside the Huntworth Saskatoon too - which is warmer than both). But, I haven't tested the late season setups against each other. I have heard time and again that the Fanatic is the best late season stuff on the market and now you have gone and made me want to buy it so I can test it in late season archery lol. Thanks for the great comment.
@@justingillentine2015 I forgot to add that I was very impressed by the Pnuma Vintis stuff and just released a video about how warm that is. They have their Highpoint stuff which is meant for frigid weather and I hope to test that too.
I wore my Sitka stuff this weekend in the teens, and I was never cold one time. I actually had to take my gloves off because my hands were so warm in the kangaroo pocket of my Fanatic jacket. The Alpha Evolution boots I bought with the 1600g insulation in Elevated II are the only boots I have ever owned that my feet didn’t get cold in. I am very confident that my Warrior alpaca socks were also a key element in my feet staying warm. I saw a video where a test was done checking which socks were warmest, and those won by a lot. I had on (upper) Fanatic hoody, 330 merino half zip, Ambient 200, Fanatic jacket, merino gloves, merino beanie. I have the Incinerator flip mits also but never touched them once. (Lower) merino 330 base layer, midi pants, Fanatic bibs, Warrior alpaca socks, Alpha Evolution 1600g boots. I will say I’m going to switch to First Lite merino base layers. My cousin has them, and they are much thicker and feel much warmer than the Sitka 330. I thought they were going to be the same, but I was very wrong.
Hi Mike! Great review. You have a new subscriber in me. What do you think about this hoodie's ability to work in that mid to late season shoulder with additional layers underneath? Looking for something that I can take from mid season alone (50s near me) down into late season (mid to lower 30s) with layering.
@theeverydaybowhunter I appreciate the reply! Any recommendations on a garment with similar fit/function that could span that last 10 degrees? I do 90% of my hunting in the 40-60 range so just looking something that I could stretch a little lower if needed to get a few more mid/late season opportunities.
@@theeverydaybowhunter doesn't have to be Asio but similar price range would be awesome. I've looked at scenlok paradigm, badlands rise pro, and even kuiu dcs guide

That’s awesome. I like the heavyweight vest for midseason too. It’s a great addition.
Another great review Mike. I have been extremely pleased with the hybrid hoodie and surprised more people aren’t talking about it. DOL!

That sounds like a great Sitka setup. I’ll have to dig in and take a look at that and compare it to Asio.

I don’t think this is going to take you down into the lower 30’s unless your layers under it are really good. This is a 40-60’s jacket.
