@Kazugaya FL Your skin cell grows and dies at a rapid pace regardless if you wash yourself or not, the difference here is that you have more dead skin cells over time versus washing them off. The oils and sweat from your pores and glands continuously flows regardless.
It'd make more sense if you 'bath' once every few days but 'rinse' yourself every day.

Specifically BATHING every day sounds extremely wasteful, even with the Japanese tubs being smaller, do you seriously fill up an entire tub's worth of fresh water only to throw it away, every single day. That's nuts.
The water is reused. They first rinse, wash, and rinse again for cleaning the body. The bath is a bonus for relaxing I think. No need to change the tubs water if said person is washed and clean. You could legit just wash body and bounce; no need for getting in the bath. I think this is the case, not entirely sure.
@@davycroket100 Even if you clean up first, you're still going to have skin particles, hair and various stuff comin off, so at the most, a family could reuse the water for one day if they're close enough. They might also reuse the water to say flush the toilet, but that's only if they have such a system installed or if they physically scoop up the water and pour it. Either way, bathing is a waste of water and not very hygienic.

@@ANTSEMUT1 From what I've seen; Japanese bathrooms tends to have all tiled floors, with the showerhead extendable on a hose. Like David said, the act of bathing is preceded by a rinsing and cleaning process usually done on a stool with a plastic bucket and/or shower, they have large drains directly on the floor, so they basically shower and then bathe afterwards, making it an even bigger waste.
Baths are strongly traditional, and real estate is at a premium with their living space cramped, so you mainly only see dedicated showers in more modern homes. Or at least that's the way it used to be, not sure if they've since embraced showers as they have western toilets, but their bathtubs are like the size of a washing machine, at least in apartments.

Once you ascend past a certain point in the unwashed life, you can look at a person and just *know* how often they bathe. It's an ability that comes with the territory. I would know, I haven't bathed in a couple centuries, at least.
