I have a friend who has OCD, and he used to only eat mashed potatoes. He couldn’t eat anything else. Unlike the people on TLC, he was super underweight, weighing like 95 pounds. All his friends and I started making him special mashed potatoes (with his permission). We’d put in ground-up multi-vitamins, unflavored protein powder, and eventually other root vegetables. He still can only eat things that are puréed, but now he eats refried beans and other smooth foods like that. I’m super proud of him.
Seeing Kelly's story of eating nothing but her fav food after having a bad experience eating something she disliked as a child really concerns me. My little cousin has only about 5 foods she'll eat, most of which are unhealthy, because she has sensory issues (autistic). If she even sees a "new" food on her plate, she freaks. I'm yet to meet another child who doesn't just not like, but *hates* pizza and birthday cake. The thing is, her parents totally pander to it and don't offer her new foods because they "just know she won't eat it," thus reinforcing her behavior. I get that it's frustrating, but they haven't had her try a "new" food in longer than I can remember. I share her dx of autism, so I understand sensory issues surrounding food and how it goes further than just being a picky eater, but it's still scary to think she's going to grow up into a 30-year-old woman who only eats like 3 bites of cheese and chocolate in a day and needs to drink Ensure to keep her weight up if she either doesn't wake up one day and her sensory issues magically be gone or her parents start taking it more seriously.
Your cousin’s parents should try to find foods that have similar texture and taste to the foods she only eats. Because it’s okay to have safe foods, but eating the same foods and only those foods (depending on what they are) can be dangerous. I have a lot of friends who are on the spectrum and they have sensory issues.
I absolutely despise pizza and some kinds of cake, and I don’t know why everyone else in my family likes pizza and cake but I’m the only one who will just not eat pizza at all
Just to maybe make you feel a bit better, I know a lot of other autistic people who had really restricted diets as kids and have greatly expanded them on their own as adults. It's actually pretty common. So there's hope, even with the parents choosing not to push it. In fact, with autism, I'd probably even say they're doing the right thing for now. A lot of us will fight even harder against what people try to push on us
Oof, I'm autistic with sensory issues too. Not sure if this helps, but my mom would just come up to me with food I didn't like and say, "Please try this, and if you don't like it, then we'll try again when you're ready" and like 80% of the time it worked. Or she cooked something healthy into my favorite food. It introduced me to a lot of fruits and veggies and other foods I would avoid. It can be hard growing up on the spectrum with family that doesn't understand but I really wish you and your cousin the best :)
I just gotta say I love intelligent Oompy moments. I could totally listen to Oompy's full nightshade potato lesson. But I also love Tara just gradually turning the volume down and cutting to when he's back in tlc mode
At six years old, I stopped eating everything except french fries, buttered noodles, and a few other ''safe'' foods. My parents were told by several doctors that it was just fussy eating and that I would grow out of it. Fast forward to twenty-one and I still eat the same way (with some improvement). I was recently diagnosed as autistic and am coming to terms with what that means for me. It is strange, but it isn't something that I chose and I'm working on changing for the better.

Oompa, seriously, you’ve kinda helped me control how much I eat and when. I am not huge but I definitely have some weight to lose and places to tone. But you’ve helped me have a healthier mindset about my weight. Thank you.
The scariest part is that at 6:47, I couldn't tell if I was disassociating or if the vid was blurring cause of the edits. 🤣 (Also, thank you for the AVX snap to bring me back.)
I had a first grade student 10 years ago that would only eat mashed potatoes, French fries, and mesquite barbecue potato chips. He was also obsessed with dogs so much to the point that he wanted to eat like one down on the floor with his plate. The year before when he was in kindergarten he would circle his mat like a dog before he laid down and curled into himself like a puppy to take a nap. He would also walk on all fours in the line of students.
I have “food related OCD” and I get into these strange food obsessions and get ill if I eat other things, but my obsession seems to change every couple months. It’s super embarrassing and my obsession makes it difficult for me to stay fit because I can’t choose what I get obsessed with. Currently it’s ice cream and I have to seriously restrict myself. I feel like others think I’m spoiled or fickle but I genuinely can’t help it. There’s a lot of shame asking for a specific food every day and others definitely judge you.
I actually go through phases that can last months to a year where I only eat the same thing every day. Sometimes it's apples and peanut butter, sometimes it's toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, sometimes eggs and hash brown, sometimes yogurt. It's weird, but I get stuck on those things, and can only eat that same thing every day.
Veggies are awesome I wish I could eat more but the cost of food is fairly high. Every veggie can be versatility made. You can steam brusslesprouts and pour white vinegar, you could make them baked with cheese and bacon, or throw them in to some dishes while cooking and it's almost like cabbage
My weird obsession food wise is mini cucumbers, I had an eating disorder, and one of my few safe foods are mini cucumbers, I understand where Kelly with the cheese potatoes is coming from
Exactly, i struggled so bad for years with my ED and it does flare up every so often and affects my eating and i can 100% see where Kelly is coming from Like one of my safe foods was actual baby food, it was random
@THE GREAT CORNHOLIO Define "everyday." Cause the correct response would be "Yeah you can, just as long as you balance your diet" (since you eat thrice-a-day).
@@camimi2226 My channel uses cool challenges that roast cringe comments. Ex: Alright campers, today's challenge is: Not being cringe. Seems like Camimi already lost the challenge.
The biggest thing I’ve found when it comes to fat loss (from a bodybuilding perspective) is that the most important step is the first one and that the first step isn’t “eating less” it’s eating different and substituting foods. Like for instance I might feel like some cake but I’ll eat some fruit Instead. No it’s not the same but my brain told me to eat sugar and fruit is high in healthy natural sugar so my brain is satisfied and 80 calories of cake is like a palmful or less but 80 calories of a mango is a whole entire mango (or a punnet and a half of strawberries)
Oompa telling me to watch what i eat has really inspired me. So instead of getting a coke i got a sprite with my meal today. Sprite says "lemon-lime" on the label, that has to be healthier than coke which has no mention of citrus fruits
I have autism and yes I struggled with food, like her, but maybe not as severe/obsessive. I used to eat peanut butter sandwiches only, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My parents were determined to help me be more accepting of change before I went to college onwards. They started by switching my (white) bread to other shapes/types of bread LOL, then eventually to wheat bread... Then eventually got me used to different brands of peanut butter until I learned to accept other spreads too. Eventually, I learned to eat other food. :) I struggle with my autism especially now while working as a lawyer and also teaching law subjects. My parents training me to get over my stubbornness to accept change really helped a lot, because there were so much more sh*t I had to deal with growing up. Such a blessing to have parents who are as patient as them. Also, I heard there are people with hyper sensitive taste buds? Perhaps she may be like that too, so other foods just taste appalling to her.
Just found your channel and you're a funny weird guy. Friggin love it! You're the kinda guy that would fit right in round here at the fire on a friday night with some beers and whiskey Cheers bud!
Kelly’s husband seems like a great guy. He wants to help and stick by her even though she has a weird thing with food. And he supports her in getting healthy. What a sweet man.
I have autism and adhd. I had a time in my life where all i could eat was plain bread because i couldn’t deal with the texture of any other food. Since then, I’ve started to recover, now I’ve started to make sandwiches with vegetables like lettuce on them to help with my sensory issues. Slowly but surely I’ve been getting better and the other day I actually ate a BLT! Super proud of how far I’ve come
I weighed in at 290lbs a month ago and this morning I’m at 250! I think a lot of the time the main thing with losing weight is motivation and facing your fears. This is your friendly reminder anything is possible and that even if you think no one else does I care about and love you 💕
As being a person of size that watches you, i am trying to exercise and eat smaller portions! every time i see one of these videos it makes me wanna exercise immediately
just telling someone they need to change isn't gonna do jack squat, there needs to be someone there every day saying "cmon let's do this let's go" personal trainer, friend, family etc
I feel for her so much, I have OCD and sensory issues and the foods I don’t like I really really can’t eat, like It’s so nauseating (for me, it’s a texture thing). I know it seems silly but it’s genuinely so difficult it’s hard to explain
As someone with autism and i struggle with eating a lot, I feel so bad for Kelly. I'm glad she was so willing to conquer her fears, I hope she's doing okay
I love cheesy potatoes too but I only have them once in a great while. Literally take potatoes mash them up, boil cauliflower until it's extremely soft and mash it up in the potatoes and she wouldn't even know they're there.
I have severe dysphagia and there's a lot of foods I CAN'T (pshyically) eat. It's sort of a texture thing for me; if the food can't turn into water when I chew it (like steak) then I physically cannot swallow it. These people seem to have some sort of mental block that they need.
I genuinely just got really happy and laughed in this video just hearing avenged sevenfold in small parts of the video that probably no one else noticed but I love avenged sevenfold so much. Love you oompaville, your videos are a super huge comfort 🩵
sometimes when i watch this channel, it feels like im watching oompa as if he is in a zoo. his train of thought gives me about the same amount of amusement as seeing a snow leopard. i could sit here for hours and just be entertained by nothing else except the enigma that is his brain.
I feel like people mostly focus on the food and diet part of the struggle. Not the underlying mental issue that is causing the fixation on food. Diets usually fail. The whole lifestyle has to change. Including an understanding of lingering trauma.
I'm so sensitive to smells that if I smell something I don't agree with I immediately just start gagging or puking until the smell is gone, It's horrible and I feel for that woman in some ways
Me too! Are you autistic or is it just sensory issues? I distinctly remember the first time I ate brussel sprouts when I was a teen. I really didn’t want to and the smell was making me gag but my mum still made me. Obviously, I threw up. Sensory problems are a pain to navigate haha

0:54 I believe him. Oompaville was one of the child sims in GrayStillPlays’ basement experiments.
oompa being coomer is always heartwarming
You are what you eat
"That's sweet and sad. It's like the worst Chinese food ever". Such a simple joke and it just sent me. Too funny dude.
I would like to give a special thank you to Tara, who included one of my favorite songs from Avenged Sevenfold.
i thought i was the only one that noticed 😭😭
It threw me off so much
Hello, fellow metalhead. :)
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT
Can we all just appreciate Taras edits with these videos as of late, pure perfection

He needs to be tested

Oompa makes Tara's work so much fun....her edits are hilarious🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm here for two things and two things only: impromptu health advice from papa oompie and Tara's editing.
Hey man I love your videos you got the best setup stay safe keep uploading and be calm
Who agrees with me
I have “food related OCD” and I get into these strange food obsessions and get ill if I eat other things, but my obsession seems to change every couple months.
“Please eat a little healthier, for me?”
Me: *shoveling dove milk chocolate into my mouth* “sure thing, bub.”
Chicken nuggies. In my deep fryer. Or Waffle fries
Veggies are awesome I wish I could eat more but the cost of food is fairly high. Every veggie can be versatility made. You can steam brusslesprouts and pour white vinegar, you could make them baked with cheese and bacon, or throw them in to some dishes while cooking and it's almost like cabbage
My weird obsession food wise is mini cucumbers, I had an eating disorder, and one of my few safe foods are mini cucumbers, I understand where Kelly with the cheese potatoes is coming from
Exactly, i struggled so bad for years with my ED and it does flare up every so often and affects my eating and i can 100% see where Kelly is coming from
Like one of my safe foods was actual baby food, it was random
I like those miniature corns, they're so comforting to eat lol. Comfort food definitely
I could eat just lettuce. Or even cabbage. Maybe even without vinaigrette
Man I wish I could eat that food everyday though
drink gasoline instead, it has enough calories to sustain you for the rest of your life
@THE GREAT CORNHOLIO Define "everyday." Cause the correct response would be "Yeah you can, just as long as you balance your diet" (since you eat thrice-a-day).
17:37 this is the reason i love caleb's videos, encapsulated into a purely instinct-driven bar of relatable social commentary.
This is definitely a the learning channel moment

when oompa was talking about the potatoes and the nightshade i was actually was invested in it
I love when he starts saying something smart and Tara just puts an edit over it
It makes us smarter by encouraging us to do our own research
W
She eats 8 potatoes a day, I can't even finish my one baked potato when I make it
I can't be the only one who thinks Oompaville acts like Jim Carrey, right?
Thought this way fpr a long time
First thing I noticed about him.
I struggle with my autism especially now while working as a lawyer and also teaching law subjects.
I had a couple of laugh out loud moments with Tara's editing today, she was on fire 🤣🤣🤣
honestly i would go up to 2 weeks without showers due to emotional help and i try to yell at myself to do it but i just can’t sometimes

me thinking: I'll have two number 9's...a number 9 large...a number 6 with extra dip..two number 45s one with cheese and a large soda..oKaY?
Been binging you lately and I gotta say papa oompsie always comes in clutch with random wisdoms
I am an overweight oompa enjoyer and I’m proud to say I’ve dropped 10 pounds this year :) love you oompa man
Proud of you, man!!!!
Just found your channel and you're a funny weird guy. Friggin love it! You're the kinda guy that would fit right in round here at the fire on a friday night with some beers and whiskey Cheers bud!
TLC Stands for Tantilizing Lunatics with Caleb.
Or cash
Kelly’s husband seems like a great guy. He wants to help and stick by her even though she has a weird thing with food. And he supports her in getting healthy. What a sweet man.
“Man I wish I could eat that food everyday though”
-SomeRandomGuy
I have autism and adhd. I had a time in my life where all i could eat was plain bread because i couldn’t deal with the texture of any other food. Since then, I’ve started to recover, now I’ve started to make sandwiches with vegetables like lettuce on them to help with my sensory issues. Slowly but surely I’ve been getting better and the other day I actually ate a BLT! Super proud of how far I’ve come
As a fur parent of three rabbits (often classified as rodents), I can firmly say they're intelligent... and judgmental af.
incorrectly classed as rodents. They are clever animals though, not quite rat level intelligence if you want a clever rodent example.
I have a rabbit and I thought he was a rodent actually but I found out they are lagomorphs
I weighed in at 290lbs a month ago and this morning I’m at 250! I think a lot of the time the main thing with losing weight is motivation and facing your fears. This is your friendly reminder anything is possible and that even if you think no one else does I care about and love you 💕
Love the progress, keep it up and don’t stop
You’re doing great! Proud of your progress
So proud of you!!!
Heck yeah that’s awesome keep it up
As being a person of size that watches you, i am trying to exercise and eat smaller portions! every time i see one of these videos it makes me wanna exercise immediately
Something about oompa saying something genuinely nice out of nowhere in the middle of *gestures vaguely* that, is so nice // 8:10
I’m so early Nikkocado Avocado is still a sweet, skinny violin player
just telling someone they need to change isn't gonna do jack squat, there needs to be someone there every day saying "cmon let's do this let's go" personal trainer, friend, family etc
all jokes aside, oompa is really respectful ngl
As one of those people who don't shower every day and isn't morbidly obese; it not because I am lazy. It is because I am extremely depressed.
did anyone else note the fact that tara used "hail to the king" by avenged sevenfold in this video? just me? okay.. love ya tara !!!
At least that guy can still shower, the other guy I watched on there couldn't fit and washed in a tub outside
i wouldn’t last long with this stud of a man looking at me
Notice how she only gagged once she knew what the food was
I feel for her so much, I have OCD and sensory issues and the foods I don’t like I really really can’t eat, like It’s so nauseating (for me, it’s a texture thing). I know it seems silly but it’s genuinely so difficult it’s hard to explain
As someone with autism and i struggle with eating a lot, I feel so bad for Kelly. I'm glad she was so willing to conquer her fears, I hope she's doing okay
9:03 I mean to be fair it's a brussel sprout.. Nobody likes brussel sprouts.
As a heavy person...and now crip-didilly-i-pled. Slippery showers are my bane.
Tonight hasn’t been the best, but now i can laugh a little
I love cheesy potatoes too but I only have them once in a great while.
'*slap* wrong answer! get me the lobotomizer!' my favorite part of the video by far
12:53 tomatoes always feel and taste weird(when i eat them idk abt yall) so i understand if the feeling is whats making her gag
I genuinely just got really happy and laughed in this video just hearing avenged sevenfold in small parts of the video that probably no one else noticed but I love avenged sevenfold so much.

definitely one of my favorite RUclipsrs, you never fail me oompaville. I Love you to oompaville
sometimes when i watch this channel, it feels like im watching oompa as if he is in a zoo. his train of thought gives me about the same amount of amusement as seeing a snow leopard. i could sit here for hours and just be entertained by nothing else except the enigma that is his brain.
I feel like people mostly focus on the food and diet part of the struggle. Not the underlying mental issue that is causing the fixation on food. Diets usually fail. The whole lifestyle has to change. Including an understanding of lingering trauma.
I definitely agree.

8:15 what he said there really touched me emotionally. I feel so loved bro🥲
you got to give her credit for actually trying new things
If this was a Dr Phil episode the directors would claim this clip quicker then he ordered his food
@@esmin2400 On the high functioning side

"I would try turning off the lights and eating something else." Haha brilliant.

I don’t know why but the random sound and visual effects he puts in these videos make them so much better.
