At 2:50 the newspaper headline mentions "O P A" - no meat for "wolves", hollywood or otherwise. The OPA was created in the 1940's during World Wr two as the "Office of Price Administration [and Consumer Supply]" as a means to prevent suppliers from raising prices too high, and to ration scarce things like gasoline, and meat. The wolf is sneaking around because he is not supposed to have meat. But he supposedly has some in his safe and he doesn't want anyone to see him get it. But it is just a bone and even when he dips it in the water for himself, rhe mice steal it before he gets a chance to eat / drink it. Rationing was a real thing during WWII, and I experienced gasoline rationing of sorts circa 1977, but i dont recall a time since then that any rationing in the USA has occurred. 🤔

He pretended to be too tired to do his job and asked bugs to do it, ending up with that spoiled brat and elmer fudd 😂 In the end he was revealed to just be a lazy eeyore who always got others to deliver the eggs and had the explosive egg coming for him.
Can we just sit and marvel at the creation of these cartoons? How they were made, the COST of each episode, and how long they lasted for? It's absolutely incredible. Give me the quality of these cartoons over today's...ANYDAY 💯

That part with the astronomer writing the resignation letter was cut on Cartoon Network for reasons thst still escape me. It wasn't violent or offensive. I'm guessing it was cut because either they don't want kids to read or the shot lingered too long (which a lot of Chuck Jones's shorts did and they don't get edited).
