Very good sound quality, thank you!

I have already listened to this recording on gullivior's channel...marvellous Schumann playing. In every phrase it's obvious that Schumann was Moiseiwitsch's favourite composer - his glowing admiration shines through in this poetic, passionate rendering.

I listened to this on James Vaughan's' recommendation mostly because I know James to be a man of broad knowledge, great sensitivity and impeccable taste, but I must admit to being skeptical, because Moiseiwitsch of whom I admittedly knew too little had always struck me as a player with perhaps TOO MUCH facility, if such a thing could be possible. In the past I found his playing enviably effortless, but too glib, and therefore, rather shallow. THIS Schumann, however, dispels that negative impression most happily. I have never heard the work given such an elegant, transparent, tenderly lyrical reading before. Moiseiwitsch's command of voicing, dynamic gradation, dynamic contrasts, exquisitely shaped phrasing where every nuance is demonstrated with utmost clarity -- while never once distracting from th,e overall sweep and drive -- is nothing short of miraculous. Beyond that his awareness, and beautiful realization of CONTRAPUNTAL aspects-- subtle accents, countermelodies, and echoed rhythmic motifs bouncing merrily back and forth among the voices I'd never heard before -- make this a memorable, wonderfully distinguished performance. Despite the brilliant realization of virtually every minute detail, the concerto hangs togather so well that all the remarkable attention to detail works only to serve the best interests of the whole. BRAVO! BRAVISSIMO!

I always enjoy reading your comments so much. I would be interested in your opinion of the interpretation of Yves Nat, another favorite of mine along with Moiseiwitsch in this work. Myra Hess with Goehr is my very favorite, though.
